- I've been wanting to make this video for a while now. I've featured so many handheld consoles here on the channel and there will so many more that will come.
But these are my main 3 devices at the moment. I even find myself playing my PS5 less and less. These are perfect for some quick gaming sessions.
Which is your favourite handheld device? I would love to hear your opinion. Let me know down in the comments.

I love the psvita, if Sony properly supported the psvita with more games and AAA titles, it would've been a legendary handheld. The small form factor is just unbelievable and built to last, definitely the most comfortable portable device on hand
I also mentioned in the video that I love the Vita the most. Unfortunately I can’t choose it over the other 2 because of the content. It’s such a shame Sony treated it in this way. It had so much potential. I love the look and feel of it. I still hope we will have a Vita 2
@@TheTechUnravel is your vita modded
@@Gloryboyquan No, not yet. I still have plenty of games in my library from the PS Plus Vita era and so far I'm good. I have everything ready to mod it so I'll do it at some point
@@TheTechUnravel GPD WIN 4
It's in the name.
@@TheTechUnravel brooo if u don’t mod ur vita this comparison is pointless. in my eyes it goes steam deck, ps vita and then switch in terms of value. obv th switch has better games but th vita can play gba roms(poke hacks) ps1 and psp games. the value for around 150 quid is unmatched
I was honestly expecting this video to have hundreds of thousands of views but i was so surprised when i saw that you only had 283 views, this video was incredibly entertaining and very well made! you def deserve more views
OMG! You don’t even know how much this means to me. Comments like this makes me keep going. This gives me such a boost. You are amazing and welcome to my channel! ❤️
Just the video I was looking for 😂😊 thank you
Glad I could help! ☺️
Man, the filming location looks stunning :D And the devices as well.
Thank you, Vlad. I had so much fun shooting this one. It really was a beautiful place
Crazy to believe that anyone that owns a vita & multiple other handhelds always finds their way back to it!
Sony reeeally dropped the ball on that!
Imagine an upgraded vita with no ridiculous storage costs & HDMI support! Hell I'd take a handheld that does partial downloads of my PS4 or 5 games. Imagine just downloading 1/4 of 4 of your favorite AAA games on the go. I could work with that.
Hear me out: PS4 games on a Sony handheld. Adding a HDMI and Dualsense support! 🤯 Day 1 buy for me!!!
I love the way the bezels look on the vita it is like the screen is part of the device which makes it doesn't age while others will age so quickly, the bezels are distinguishable and look thick.
Such a beautiful device. One of the main reasons why I chose the 1000 model
steamdeck looked old already upon release, thick fat clumsy system
@@miljororforsprakpartiet290 true, but my SD became essential go to handheld where ever I go.
@@kassperplus well if you overlook the size/design it's probably a far more competent system than any other portable.
@@miljororforsprakpartiet290 and cheap too
I would love a Steam Deck, looks amazing. I’ve been playing Fire Pro Wrestling World, WWE 2K22, Star Wars Squadron, Dirt 5, Killer Instinct and a bunch of others all on my iPhone recently (and posted some vids) on the move, just so that I can get my gaming fix. Amazing that you could play these games with touchscreen controls but SD would be so much better
It really is a great device. Sometimes it has its bugs but nothing too serious. Overall is the most complete handheld and you can do so much with it. I feel I haven’t even touched the surface with what it can do
Nice overview
Thank you☺️
I would love to hear which is your favorite portable console. Let me know down in the comments
I'd never give up my vita but I am definitely looking to add to it. I've been thinking about a steam deck for months now and man I might just jump for one. The only thing holding me back is I also need a new laptop so I may just go for that.
You can do a lot more with the Steam Deck, not just gaming but I will not recommend it if you need a laptop. It’s easier to order one now so you can always come back to it
same here my friend.. same reasons. Deck or the new replacement for my 10 year old laptop. 🤔
That's where the GPD and device like it come in. Not devices like a steam deck.
Ps Vita and Switch for me, but somehow Nintendo DS is my preferred handheld still, mainly because of its extensive library of great titles and its backwards compatibility with the GBA
Great choices👍. I also enjoy my 3DS a lot. I just recently bought one and I’ve been playing on it a lot
Even if I do get my own Steam Deck, I'm still keeping my PS Vita. That thing has a special place in my heart as an underrated console with a lot of features that smartphones also have, and thats saying a lot for a console from 2012.
I love my Vita. I’m waiting for my 2000 one to arrive as well. I’m actually playing God of War 2 on it right now
I love my ps vita slim 2000 I’ve been playing it more and more I’ve had mine since 2014 when it first came out and still love it in 2024 I love playing the old games I can play old classic ps1, psp and ps vita games and also I can play remote play ps4 games it’s so perfect for me I have steam deck as well but i prefer my ps vita more so GORGEOUS love the design I wish and hope we get a PS VITA 2 in the future
I really hope we get a PS Vita 2 and I hope the rumours are corect. We can only hope. I love this little thing!
Vita is beautiful and full of possibilities, games of 8,16 bits and psx, psp, android, pc ports like half life... with a very active community. The last truly portable handheld
Playing the Steam Deck so much lately, I can’t get over how portable the Vita is. I love this thing!
This is not a fair match up, how are the deck or switch supposed to go against the ultimate in portable gaming vita?
Haha. You got me in the first half, not gonna lie
They are all good in different areas but personally I would prefer the switch if I had to choose one
That’s an interesting pick, for sure. For me it would be the Steam Deck as I don’t have a PC. If I did had one, I would also go with the Switch
Steam deck you can optimize the games for on the go so the battery lasts longer. For more demanding games I can make it last at least 4 hours and for other game I can make it last max 9 hours with good enough graphics and performance.
Indeed, you can optimise it for longer battery life. I never got that many hours as you but still. Great pick!
Did you know that you can mod the steam deck with deckyloader
Wouldn't really consider that modding but indeed, decky is pretty good. I'm using it as well
I don't have a Steam Deck. I have the Switch and PS Vita and some others portables. I found that i prefer the smaller ones, o like my New 3DS (not XL), but my favourite is my PSP 2000.
I have a couple of PSPs as well and it’s amazing how good it feels in the hand at such a small form factor. But somehow I still prefer the Vita form than the PSP
The ps vita was a powerhouse and honestly sony should consider making a new handheld without stupid proprietary memory and better marketing in NA
YES, definitely. I want a new Sony handheld so bad. I love the Vita so much and still use it almost daily
Sees the title: *CHOOSE ONE ONLY*
*decides to take it all back home*
😁
Chose the switch cause the catalog. But the steam console it's pretty cool too
If you want Nintendo 1st party games then for sure. Steam Deck has more content but depends if it’s your cup of tea. Great choice either way
I choose for my brother's and me Nintendo switch, ps vita and steam deck
The perfect answer right here!
Steam deck is the top pic for me. I have a Nintendo switch oled and it’s cool but I have been playing games on the deck that I played on the Nintendo switch and boy do they run way better, it’s amazing and for the price 🎉
That is a great choice, indeed. If I could only play one of them, it would be the Steam Deck for sure
Deck hands down, with compatibility growing for yuzu and vita3k, soon we wont need the other two.
From that perspective the Steam Deck is the obvious choice, for sure. But also, for me it’s something about playing the games on the original hardware as well.
I have all 3
Nice!
Honestly the only handheld console that came out before the switch that's still relevant is the new 3ds xl. Even if 3ds emulation is smoother in the future you cannot replicate the dual screen 3d experience. The fact that you can play PSP games is the only thing vita got going for it but the psp experience is pretty easy to emulate. Vita library in itself isn't half as good as 3ds. The 3D on my new 3ds xl still fascinates me everytime i play on it. Steam deck, switch and 3ds together can play literally any handheld game that has ever come out
From the games point of view you can even eliminate the Switch from this list. You can pretty much do with the Steam Deck almost everything. But for me it's not only about the availability of games when modding them. I love all these consoles and my "retro" ones that I always take with me on the go, are the 3DS and the Vita. I really enjoy using both them.
If u already have a pc at home, vita is the one.
U can hack it and play emulated games. And u can bem less careful with it, since it's smaller and cheaper
The Vita it’s a great addon but also standalone. In 2022 if you don’t have anything else to play games on, unfortunately it would not be the first pick, even if I love it so much. Such a shame Somy didn’t support it more
I have decision anxiety (no it’s not that serious lol) and I carry both the steam deck and the switch. Sometimes it’s goood CZcams and sometimes I don’t even play either because I don’t feel like it. Sucks to suck ig lol. All of them are good, haven’t gotten a vita though
I can relate on not playing them sometimes. I do the same. But I still carry at least one of them with me. Maybe I will play it :)
If I could only pick one I would take the steam deck 10/10 times. Simply because it can run much of the game library on either console. The only factor where I'd pick from my vita, 3ds or other portable devices is when I want to play console specific multiplayer, need a much smaller device or when I very much want to enjoy the feeling of the original hardware.
This is the proper answer!
You are so right when you say that the PS Vita is much more preferable to portable gaming and being removed among the three at the same time.....modding facts
It’s a beauty. I love it!
I mean the steam decks only downside is it's size and it's lesser battery life, otherwise it's better in all ways. You can emulate switch games with yuzu basically at native quality on the steam deck, aswell you can probably emulate vita games but I know next to nothing about vita emulation but I would assume itd run well. It's more powerful, has better inputs imo, has a better screen then the normal switch, and substantially more horsepower. Really unless you just desperately want a more traditional console experience, and are only gonna play easier to run games steam deck is a no brainer. Ofc it isn't in stock and there's a long waiting period so If you need something soon I guess buy an older switch used so you can jailbreak it, but those are the only cases I could say the switch is worth it over the steam deck
You made some pretty good points and I have to agree with you. An extra reason why you would prefer the Switch is the portability, as it is a lot smaller. Don’t get me wrong, you can easily take the Deck as well with you but if space is limited, then the Switch is the better choice. Also, some prefer the smaller form factor. I see people even choosing the Vita because of this reason and that is a very valid point.
But yes, you can basically have all the games on the Steam Deck, as long as you are not the type who prefers the og hardware. To be honest, as I have both of them, I never even tried to emulate Switch games on the Steam Deck.
But that’s why it’s so amazing to have the option to choose
@@TheTechUnravel yeah, I get smaller form factor but really that's all it has. And like you using all three, it's alot better for space and simplicity to have a great all in one system that can play all those games. So really unless you need something that's so small it can almost be pocketable, then I'm sure you can fit the deck instead. But I get it's kinda bulky and that's understandable, but I feel like that's the only benefit either of them have. And I'd really recommend switch emulation in general but especially on the deck, it will probably run at docked (1080 mostly) for most games at the normal speed with not much issues, I don't have a deck to confirm this but from what ive seen it can do that
@@shaggers8041 Most of the emulated games work better on Steam Deck than on Switch so it wins from this point of view for sure. If you want to have all the games and can only pick one, then the Steam Deck is absolutely the way to go
The ps vita was the greatest Handheld in my opinion but, sony overpriced the mem card and failed the ps vita focusing on the ps4
Such a shame what Sony did to the Vita. One can only hope one day they’ll launch a new handheld
I take Vita to travel.
I have taken one by one to travel…
Vita was the easiest to take around. Since I have so many games to finish on my vita so~ Vita wins.
Steam Deck and switch stays on my bed. 🤣
It’s just something about the Vita. I just ordered a second one as I was missing the 2000 from my collection
Ps vita, best bang for buck
i really hate the size and control placement of the steamdeck
It really depends on the size of your hands. I find the placement to be pretty good for me
I have a modded ps vita and my brother has a switch. I wouldn’t even consider the steamdick portable it’s too bulky and ugly
I know the Steam Deck is bulky and can't even compare it with the Vita or Switch in this regards but it's still portable in my opinion. I never use the case that comes with it though. That thing is crazy big.
@@TheTechUnravel can you even fit it in your pocket lol I didn’t realize how big it was until I seen a video comparison the other day
@@angrynooblets34 Haha, good point. No, you cannot. But then I would say the same about the Switch. It is a big device, for sure. Backpack is the way to carry this
Steam deck wins negative difficulty.
What do you mean by that?
Steam deck
Can't go wrong with the Steam Deck
Steam deck ofc the other r trashhhhh
My PS Vita is now sad
Playstation Vita duh Ps Vita is Better
Ps vita, best bang for buck
