Challenge Stradale exhaust is the best of both worlds. You get a much better sound and keep it within the Ferrari brand.

I'm not even a mechanic and I would have looked at the ignition system first. It's almost always the culprit when it comes to misfires. If there was a leak in the intake system it would cause the car to run lean, not misfire. This mechanic is either trying to bill you for more money or is an amateur at best.

*Personal preference of exhaust noises, most liked to least liked:*
First - Custom (Was raw, as the 360 should sound, but bass-y enough to not sound too weak)
Second - Capristo (Best for the price I would imagine, and had a throaty feel to it too)
Third - CS/race (Ferrari noises are amazing, especially through the Challenge Stradalle, but too racy for a daily)

If it was a life car and not going to be sold/traded in the foreseeable future, custom. But as it will move on sooner or later, CS is probably the best option.

Owning an old(er) Italian car is lot's of fun. Yet, the technical problems are something I have gotten used to. I drive a 1971 Lancia Fulvia (the one with the 1300cc v4). Last year I changed all the spark plugs. The car still ran beautifully. 350km later I lost all compression in the 3rd cilinder and the engine stopped running. A spark plug with a manufacturing error broke apart and found its way into the engine. In the process of doing so, it fucked up the cilinder head and required an entire engine overhaul to find and fix the issue.
