Common sense is a completely different thing
There is a clear often ignored difference between accumulating, parroting information and intelligence, wisdom- applying it in a good way in the real world.
Generally intelligence is an inherent quality, like the colour of your eyes skin etc etc. In order to benefit from a university education you will need to be intelligent.
If you take a low-IQ individual and put him/her through university education they will not spontaneously develop a high IQ.

The question to ask is this ;' is the UK getting bigger geographically?" is the square milage of USABLE SUSTAINABLE land getting greater? if the answer is yes, then let's keep letting people in because a truly culturally integrated society is good. However, I've not seen any scientific evidence to suggest that this is happening, so unfortunately, we have to say we are full. Period .
