I stayed away from Inkscape for so long because it just didn't make sense to me. Towards the end of the video when you said to think of Inkscape as more like shapes and paths, something clicked in my brain. I'm used to drawing freehand, but this finally made sense to me. It's kind of like using geometry to create art. Thank you for such clear instruction.
These videos are so helpful! I really appreciate that when the author mis-clicks rather than doing what he intended (as I do!), he explains what happens and why. Thank you!
I am totally new to Inkscape and any program like this. I have listened to several CZcams videos and YOURS are the BEST and so easy to understand. PLEASE make lots more.
I literally went through 5 other tutorials and learned absolutely NOTHING!! You my dear are a God sent! I’m not an easy learner but the way you explain each and every step in such great detail, I am FINALLY getting it. 🙏🏼🥰 I’m feeling much more confident and I am no longer contemplating on throwing my Cricut out the window. Thank you
Inkscape tutorials are so wonderful for a beginner. I have learned more than with any other tutorials I have watched. Others are so fast I can't even keep up.
This tutorial is so awesome! Being dyslexic, I have a hard time learning certain computer programs, especially ones that have to do with drawing/illustrating because the people making the vids assume you already know how to do certain things, so they barley touch on the very basics. This series for Inscape is invaluable! I appreciate the time you took to get it broken down into bite-sized pieces, in simple language, and also explain HOW and WHY things work, or don't work. By showing what each feature does, this helps people think things through and allows them to figure out how to accomplish so many smaller components for a project instead of a select few larger pieces and then be left trying to figure out how to do something original for themselves. This should be the go-to tutorial for anyone learning Inkscape, especially if they have never worked with this type of program before. Thank you for taking the time to make Inkscape nonintimidating, in such an easy-to-understand tutorial! Absolutely top-notch.
Hi Just installed inkscape a few days ago Did know anything about it but I want to learn it Looked already many tutorials but I must honnestly say your are the most understandable Every time I see a lesson I close up and try to do it with my inkscape You can explain it so calm , good understandable and very easy to follow You are a very good teacher and I will follow All your tutorials Thank you very very much and please keep on going with the tutorials Greetings and god bless Hoogstoel Emille
TJ, thank you for your videos. They are clear and easy to understand. I really appreciate that you don't cram everything into one lesson too. This is a very complex product and you have made it easy enough for me to actually start using it right away.
You're instructional skills are outstanding. Your pacing is excellent and your laid back style is very good. Thank you sir for creating these, I'll be binge watching your videos for sure!
Love the way you explain things and have fun while doing it. I watched another channel about Inkscape and I just felt lost and overwhelmed. Thanks for sharing.
I'm very new to Inkscape and thank gods I decided to check youtube and found your videos! I'm only at video 2 but I've already learned so much and this seems much more useful and cooler to me than Illustrator! Those object editing features?? WOW
u sir is one of the best if not the best teacher on youtube, very detailed and straight to the point explanation without spending few min intro telling ppl to sub this and that, i'm so glad i found your channel!
I loved the ending, "isn't this horrible, this mess I made in this circle?"...hilarious...great, and instructional, thank you for your time! very helpful
These vids are a few month old now 😀 and I'm a little late to the party 🎉 I want to say thank you for creating such easy to follow instructions. You approach teaching in a very intelligent manner. You are obviously a smart cookie. I can't wait to watch all of your videos 🙏 🙏 🙏 Happy 2020 😀😀😀
Awesome. That is what I was looking for. A lot of people just teach us how to draw things. They do not teach which tool is doing what. Thank you for letting us know which tool is doing what so that we can have some awesome innovations in the future. Great work.
I had watched you LMMS tutorial earlier when I was new, now I made my game music using LMMS and it's released. Now when I found your tutorials on Inkscape, I'm gonna watch these tutorials cause you are a great teacher.
Thank you so much for these tutorials. Like Dashane below I've learned so much in just two lessons and there are still 21 more to go! You've got a lovely relaxed easy to follow style so I'm working along with you in Inkscape as you teach. Thanks again.
I'm living for the small "aah" at 8:07 😜. I don't know about you guys, but I have downloaded Pencil2d, Gimp, Shotcut, Blender, Krita, and now learning Inkscape, because this channel introduced these open source software to me.👍👍👍 I'm currently at a dead end on blender though.
@ 11:02 object to path is shift+crtl+c (menu "path" > object to path) or there's the botton that looks like an infinite symbol right under "help" menu, so that you can manipulate freely all nodes of a polygon . my first contact with tool so i got a little lost there :D btw thanks TJ you've been soooo helpful
Wow. I am pretty new to Inkscape and have just found your Tutorials. You are brilliant in your tutorials and explanations. Clear, consise and easy to understand for me as a beginner. Thank you Sir for what you have done in these Videos. This is a brilliant program and I have a great desire to be able to use this program in my future projects. You have made this now a definite possibility for me. Please keep up your brilliant work and all the best for your future. I can't wait to move onto No 3 Video.
man i've really loved Inkscape but you're 'rant' at the end really cleared up why i've been having a turd of a time trying to sketch things! i think i might use GIMP and import across any drawings i need to do.
So much impressed by your teaching style , Sir . I would have been so much more vulnerable if I would have got teachers like you in my school or colleges. Much appreciated , looking forward to learn more things from you though.
Thank you!! I am still on this 2nd ep of this inkscape series and know that i will keep watch your videos. Your explanation is very detail but easy to understand. And this ep is so funny especially the tiny "aa" the when you made a mistake at 14:13😂
I do freehand in vector software sometimes. If I'm doing Celtic knotwork, I find it easier to draw the pattern, then clean up nodes to smooth my lines. I get what you're saying about freehanding, it's just what works for certain things for me.
This software is fantastic. Thanks for producing good videos. I will suggest to make videos with more detail but not in a hurry. Newbies need more detail with slow learning pace
0:52 To make it a perfect circle, first use the toolbar's Rx and Ry fields to set it to a perfect square, then you can bring the small circle as far down as posible.
I really like your tutorials. I'm even more convinced to download Inkscape. I'll have to check to see if the new version has been released. The channel "grafikwork" has some wonderful art done with this software. I love the crisp and clean look the program produces.
For everyone wondering how to make the star shape show ALL nodes, you have to go to the menu and go to Path -> Object to Path. Not good this explanation was skipped, just had to scour other CZcams videos to find this.
Very nice work u did... i understand everything.. u explain things and make them seem so easy .. thx alot very helpful i'll keep up on ur tutorials.. ..!!
This is reminding me of CorelDraw, I do free hand in Corel, it has a tool to reduce nodes. I'm sure if you look around there will be one in Inkscape too. This is so cool my Corel is too robust for my old computer now this will fit the bill until I can get a better computer.
Great start to learning the very basics of a tool. However, that subjective rant about freehand tools due to a personal opinion isn't good for this sort of videos, particularly when they aren't even valid. There are several legit reasons for using them in situations when freehand flow feel is exactly what you want in that particular shape. For example, if you want any organic cutout to the shape, that is what you can use. And artists with graphics pens can make pretty damn clean and intentional shapes with that tool I loved the way you explained what they do, and how they differ from the other cleaner shapes, but the other "dirty/messy/don't use" comments were totally unwarranted. Think of the people who worked hard on those features, they aren't there just to mislead people
I guess everything has already been said, so double all those positive comments already stated below.... keep up the simplicity and before we know what happened it will all just make sense... Thanks for the effort and yor time to make this series..
I'm only on #2 and this is the best series on Inkscape on the web! Thank you.
Thanks Lisa! Best of luck on your Inkscape journey!
Your teaching style is relaxed and free of filler, well made sir ...
So gifted!!!
My thoughts exactly :D Very thankful for OP!
You're a great teacher. After watching a few others this video is the clearest.
Thanks.
Thanks Lambert!
