I think this conversation shows the importance of good role models. My father is an absolute gentleman to my mother but he learned from trial and error. My mother on the other hand formally learned etiquette, so she taught me the difference between forks, don't put you elbows on the table, always open the door for your date, sit facing the door. So, I think you learn these things if you are fortunate enough to grow up in a household where that is the norm. Some people have to learn out in the world. I think as long as you know a person is TRYING to be nice that matters more than knowing all the rules exactly.

I think letting her order first is unnecessary. Women are typically indecisive. If you know what you want, I see no problem ordering first.

Facts. At home in public it's whatever and expected....I gotta multitask and I'm not trying to talk on the phone because that takes up a hand needed to multitask. When I'm on a date I'm intentionally blocking everything else out and literally saving that time and dedicating it to you so the phone isn't necessary then for that time I specifically set aside
