The BAFTA awards are always a pleasure to watch, seeing Michael J Fox stand at the podium brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart, a wonderful person,a part of everyone's life growing up, be it soap opera or movie,glad to see him living his life, doing well, enjoying his life,makes me smile. For everyone saddened by his diagnosis,grow up,we all get old and have "conditions", he's doing well, hopefully you'll be able to be as gracious and understanding as you age

The BAFFTAS are so much classier than the Oscars. W as rooting for Huller in Anatomy of a Fall but she didn’t get it. Just because Barbie was a huge financial success doesn’t mean it should be nominated. Also, the Scorsese movie wasn’t good and neither was the acting . To this day, it is a tragedy that Scorsese did not win for Raging Bull.

Yes, I agree with the BAFTA choices. Thanks for posting this delightful recap. Re the "Barbie" snub: The film was No. 1 at the box office, and created immense wealth for the producers, and I imagine, the actors as well. Most people would be happy with a "snub" like that.

I was so into him growing up. So sad that he got Parkinsons? But I respect how he brings awareness to it and tries to help others with it as well. He spreads awareness of the new treatments and progress in the science, study and research on cures

Cillian, as far as I know, brings an incredible artistry to every role that I have viewed. After all of the interviews he has given the past year for that stunning cinema achievement, I am begging some brilliant director or writer to cast him in a comedy. Just saying. Then we can all bust a gut while crying at the same time
Kudos to my Brit cousins....I like the auditorium seating for the BAFTAS much better than our Grammy dinner tables. Much easier to see the audience aka the nominees and award winners!

I don't agree with some who were nominated and others who got snubbed. I guess that happens with every award show.
I thought ‘oh no, don’t tell me they got Dylan Mulvaney to do the half time entertainment’, then I realised it was Sophie Ellis Baxter. I didn’t watch the BAFTAs because I assumed it would get political, but from those clips it seemed refreshingly free of all the leftwing garbage. Did the dog stay with Michael Sheen the whole evening?
Sad that Barbie missed out - preferred it to Oppenheimer which had a lot of directorial randomness in the form of fireworks that did little to advance the story...
I haven't seen either but Oppenheimer had big established names, was a historical period drama, involved the last world war and the science and people behind the cause that ended the war. Fairly quickly. Barbie was obnoxiously bright, was campaigned for and funded and produced by women who are known for being beautiful and talented actresses. They wouldn't be as famous or successful if they weren't also gorgeous. Not saying she's not talented but if she was buck toothed, flat chested, beer gut, saddle bags and a midsized sedan of cellulite and acne and scars and wrinkles and stretch marks, they wouldn't be at the level they are. Barbie would have won if it was released during the me too movement, and pre megxit, amber turd. I think it was guaranteed money and support by women, had probably a decent message about image, reality and self worth and respect. During me too it would have won golden globe or Oscar, but not both. It would have been a token win, a show of virtue signaling and support for women and equal opportunities for success and respect. A symbol of the achievement of equality of the genders. Yay, we've done it. But it's now, time has changed, serious historical drama involving people who changed the world is a standard and typical winner, as per usual. Barbie might be better, idk, but the trending issues have changed and women's rights and equal opportunity to succeed isn't actually important to Hollywood. But draping itself in the latest cause to speak out about for cred and signal their wokeness is always the thing to do.

I have always preferred the prestigious BAFTAS to the mediocre Oscars. I was saddened when the notorious criminal Will Smith 'won' for his mediocre movie.
