The fact that David Tennant hosted this thing, had 3 oitfits and you still did not talk about him is THE Disrespect moment with a capital D
Yeah, he was just looking at the red carpet pics, and didn't watch the ceremony.
David Tennant has the most amazing fits!!!!
No seriously I ran over here to learn who did David and the pre show guy’s suits because they were great.
I hope he does Les Cesar in France ( French Oscars) 23 Feb American stars turn up especially if they r not going to the Oscars .
@@mercuryshadow5452 same!
Awww I was hoping you were gonna talk about host David Tennant’s 3 outfits cause they were gorgeous and fun, especially for a guy to wear.
Absolutely, that
Aaahhh I came here hoping you'd talk about David Tennant. Not only here but his fashion sense has been intriguing lately. It's like ever since he hit 50,something clicked. It's like, as a theatre actor, he's waited to be old for so long and he's being loud with his outfits for it.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
"waited to be old" made me cackle
so i looked up what you all are talking about and his looks are quite...meh? like embroidery on the jacket is boring, golden collar suit looks tacky and the green suit doesn't fit. the bar for menswear is so low😭
You could put Cillian Murphy in a paper bag and I'd for sure buy it.
Absolutely😂❤
Cillian was wearing a ZENDA mohair suit. Easy Google. And I'm sorry, I can stand it no more...it's ju-well-ry! NOT ju-ler-y.
Yah that’s how I feel too. He’s just all kinds of cool
We need a Part 2 covering Tennant, Naomi, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Robert Downey Jr, Sheila Atim and Charithra Chandra to name a few...
Agree
I'm not normally interested in menswear, but Paul Mescal looked great.
Agree! And also, Anya Taylor-Joy
AGREED @hautelemode
Lily Collins just struck me as outstanding. No gimmicks, just glamour. She got it right.
Ayo is giving me “pulled from the drama department closet for an evening-wear scene” realness
Ayo's ensemble was not good. The upper portion was a wreck! The long stole was meh.
YES! 😂
The Emma Stone dress is giving me tacky bridesmaid vibes
Honestly, I felt like it was giving grandma's dress from the attic with one sleeve ripped off. And the dresses from the LV collection that was referenced were sooo much nicer, with the ruffles and the sheer, and the matelasse at the bottom, but those had an airy, layered feeling, and this was just heavy and, sorry, kinda dowdy.
I was getting giant 🍤 vibes
Bedspread vibes
80's bridesmaid!
@@yungyeolde4271 giant 🍑?
No mention of David Tennant? Outright offensive 💔

But Cate’s dress from the back was zoweeee…why no views of that?
Cillian is in Zegna
Ayo, love, but this dress did not seem tailored to her
This is the first time I realize that he reviews them alphabetically
Thank you!!
Cillian looks sooo chill and comfy. It's almost giving "I didn't wanna come until the very last minute".
Yes, he is soooo cool, I feel a breeze over here. He can do no wrong with fashion, his eyes are the best accessory.
My mother learned tailoring. She was a sample machinist and pattern cutter for a company that made legal knock-offs, and at one point was sent to YSL atelier for training. She learned tailoring because it was different. Her tip to me was to look at the shoulders first. If there's a little tuck between the shoulder pad and the arm, it's faulty. She wouldn't have let that flaw out of her workshop. Tailoring is all about fitting the garment to the client, not the other way around.
How could you overlook David Tennant? Three outfits, all gorgeous!
I do LOVE Taylor Russell’s. Amazing. Saving the best for last.
100% agree on Deepika’s saree. Let alone the red carpet, it wouldn’t pass muster at my mom’s Diwali party.
Even kjo doesn't do the tacky sequin sarees anymore
Fr girls don't even wear a saree like that for school/college farewell
Lily's dress was my favourite: it has a touch of old Hollywood glam to it, and even if some may find it not exciting (or crazy) enough, it's definitely not boring and very wearable in my opinion 🖤
Bradley Cooper is channeling his 19th century ship captain vibe.
Yes it is a version of the navy pea coat, we wore these thigh length jackets in the 70’s and 80’s I used to wear my brothers he bought it at an army surplus store
Bradley is a nod to the British Crombie Overcoat established 1805!
🤔 Captain Steampunk.
Ahoy there me matey!
Whoever is Divine’s stylist is absolutely crushing it. Truly, her outfits at each event are breathtaking ❤
Agreed!
Da'Vine*
agreed - it's refreshing to see a plus size person dressed fabulously rather than just like meh ok
always so impressed with how quickly you get your red carpet videos out. thank you luke!
Cate’s dress made from deadstock fabric was my fave and it was beautiful! Dua should’ve worn the green runway dress. That red fabrication was tragic. Emma Corin in a leather pant-a-boot or thigh high boot in the same blue as the bows on the skirt….. dead
I love Margot’s dress but the part that ruined it for me is how the bust cups are clearly not her size. I think bust cups that aren’t well made or are clearly too small look tacky :/
That was how I felt about Florence Pugh's dress - those bust cups looked way too small. I honestly worried about a wardrobe malfunction.
Was waiting for David Tennant😭
It sucks that plus size celebs have to be judged on a different scale simply because of the scarcity of designs for them.
Did he judge her dress on a different scale? I gotta go listen back. Anyway, I gasped when I saw it. It’s the best thing I’ve seen at a fashion event in at least a year.
I felt like she was standing in a protective stance. It wasn't a real pose. If she was happy ( as the photo we see, see looks angry) the dress would have been a stunner. I think she looked fantastic in it.
Zegna is not a Spanish tailoring brand, it’s a historic ITALIAN fabric manufacturer which expanded into men’s tailoring a few decades ago. The trousers (or pants 🩲 as you called them) are quintessentially classic Italian tailoring, and they look simultaneously timeless and refreshingly modern after years of slim/super slim/skinny/spray-on men’s trousers.
i think he was right about the hem. it's too long and awkward
The Emma Stone dress killed me😂. Just reminded me of an ill fitting prom dress, it looked too loose in the waist
or a bridesmaids dress....peach never works...always looks cheap..
With a ham on her arm...
Louis Vuitton sucks, but this time it’s meant to be kinda funny looking. It’s inspired by the dress her character wears.
@@April-oj2vg😂
David Tennant looked amazing!
I think British GQ said Murphy is wearing a custom Zegna suit and Vienna Blake boots.
The best thing on here is your green cardigan Luke 😍
Lusting after that for New Zealand winter 😂😂😂❤
I actually really ❤ Emma Corrine’s look. So many interesting details, and I love the blue stockings. Unique & memorable.
Yes! My first thought when I saw it was that it looked really good
I agree!
Cate's LV dress from the back (less) was even more stunning.
Yeah was disappointed not to see that view
I think Ayo Edebiri's dress would have looked fantastic on a large chested woman. Simply because it would have changed how that halter draped
Yeah it's totally not the dress, it is the fit!
The dress was absolutely dreadful, including the entire outfit!!!! WHO was the stylist???? 😮
wish you reviews david tenants look, was a real scottish slay x
"Wowee Zowee" was not the goal for Carey Mulligan's dress. Apparently she was going for quiet, timeless elegance and she achieved that beautifully. It's not "Hey look at Me" fashion.
i liveeee for the Taylor Russell praise
I was literally JUST hoping for your BAFTA take to upload, and here you are! Such sorcery! ❤
Bradley looks like he should be the captain of the Titanic
That's a ship I'd go down on..
Or a doorman at a fancy department store
Botega must have been on drugs with that orange dress. It looks like a 7th grade sewing project. Im just speechless. You're going to a major event and you have 10 dresses hanging up, and you choose THAT?! Ida fired that stylist.
i at first saw it in a casual shot of her standing in a hallway and it looked so bad i thought it was a costume from an SNL skit when she hosted lol
@@ancientalien000
And to know it's Botega which means it costs a small fortune. It's a travesty.
Everything you said about Taylor Russell! SPOT ON! I love how effortless her looks feel…truly a highlight
WOOO-HOOOO ……… L U R V it!!!
can't believe you didn't talk about david tennant's outfits!! they all were so fun and cute
Disappointed that you didn't cover David bc ive learned so much from you and was excited to hear your takes on Davids fashion choices and his artistry history. You do such a wonderful job with balancing critiques with the history of the fashion and inspiration. Thats why i just wish id gotten that luke lesson on David Tennant, esp for this event.
I get the impression that the BAFTAs are more conservative or traditional, usually. At least the British put out at least one good movie every award season. I was upset that my favorites didn't win, something I can't say about the Oscars.
Yes the BAFTAs are more traditional in style. They're not usually out there in fashion.
You are the best! Your insights are spot on!
I literally came here just to hear about David Tennant but seeing the comments I guess I'll skip this one 😢
The highlight of Kate Blanchet’s gown is the back! Why do you rarely if ever show the back of the gowns?
A review on the costume design of Poor Things would be interesting. I thought it was a constant visual fest
I felt like that wa what Emmas dress was referencing? But have yet to see more than short pieces of the film
it's clearly referring the movie, but this red carpet dress looks like a parody of the actual costumes of the movie, which are works of art@@bucketree
My favourite outfit was June Givanni’s, she was this year’s honouree for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, as the founder of the June Givanni Pan African Cinema Archive.
She wore a gold and white number and looked really stunning
Thank you so much for your comments regarding Da'Vine, I agree completely and I am so happy she is embracing fashion and getting designers to step up. If you are going to wear a saree then wear a fabulous one and slay!
I love your show, I used to do fashion but got out of it, I see how dedicated you are and you know your stuff. My question is why are you not a celebrity stylist?
you are the best! always look forward to your reviews! you know your fashion history.
"...I'm gonna do it. I don't know what I'm gonna do but I'm gonna do *IT*" 😂 Love ya, man. Adore the commentary.
I love it! 😂
Again, YES! YES! YES!
Loved the chuckle at the bottom of Emma Stone's strange dress. Also, is it stained on the bottom right?
ahhhh, i came running to see what you thought of David Tennant's outfits, such a shame
I love your critic, it makes achieving red carpet design accessible.
I absolutely adore Cate Blanchett & Cillian Murphy, they looked so far superior to everyone 💜🖤
Cillian Murphy is really on Brand in his look. I like because he gives a "I dress myself" aura. And I am here for it. Cant wait to see what he is going to wear to the Oscars
Cate Blanchett's was my fave, all the elements just really worked together and fit so well. Also, being backless made it even more stunning!
And I actually unironically liked Emma Corrin's look, can't explain it lol. I guess like you I appreciate the swing.
I cannot believe you didn't say anything about David Tennant's 3 looks. He slayed! He was on the red carpet before the show and he hosted and you just ignored his looks. Pity.
From the comments… yes. David Tennant needs a mention
Lashana Lynch's Prada outfit made me giggle- at first I thought it was a gown with a polka dot shirt under, then I realised it was a cardi, and it was only when Luke zoomed in I realised it was grommets! Like a very strange trompe l'oeil (also smart the way the collar folds back out on itself giving something of a pussybow effect) it was just fun :D
Emma in Miumiu was great too- I really appreciated how they'd matched the colour of the bows to the colour of the tights under the sheer black skirt, her leg peaking out was giving us a peak of super bright blue too. It was a wild outfit, but also looked put together. Also, I like the whole 'wearing knickers as bottoms' thing a lot more when paired with opaque tights, when it's bear legs it can kinda look like they forgot the trousers.
Carey Mulligan's gown was tragic though :'( those weird horizontal creases across the torso were just throwing me off, like what is the fabric doing there!!??
And I *hated* Emma Stone's dress, it had no shape and made her look like a cylinder 😂
I always have a lot of respect for Emma Corrins vision (which sometimes translates more successfully than others..). Without fail theres something fun about their choices, a childlike weirdness in the best way. I think in such a gendered fashion context such as award shows/red carpets, its a nice relief to know that when i look at their outfits they have so much to say (or scream sometimes haha). Its as if, but maybe im projecting, theyre poking fun at the event theyre attending and the over the top rediculousness of some of these award shows (that most likely dont have a category that accounts for their gender identity). Stick a huge bow on a seethrough skirt. "See, this is me doing the femme fashion thing right, no?" Whether i like the outfit or not is kinda beside the point, its fun and shows a whole lot more personality than most celebs are comfortable doing.
You see the Louis Vuitton gorgeous collection and then you see what Emma Stone "chose" to wear, how? why? who? I mean, those green and pink dresses from the runway, are stunning and Emma looks like a peach cobbler in that thing. I don't understand. Also, I loved Emma Corrin's Miu Miu look - super young, chic and cool.
Agreed on the LV looks that were on the runway. I would have preferred to see her in one of those.
🎉🎉yay made it early Luke I love you ❤and your content I appreciate all you're hard work and knowledge you put in each video. I've been a fan since the beginning years ago and I love to see how much you've grown ❤❤you're amazing keep doing you I'm so happy for all your success you deserve it
Yes for part 2!
Justice for David Tennant😭
The thread detail on Dua Lipa's dress...I think someone might've yanked it at the waist and it broke the thread lines. I sew a little, and the way the lines look on her dress remind me of a row of stitches that have snagged or busted. They are taut in some sections, and bulge in others, almost like gathering stiches after they've been cut.
100% agree with your thoughts on Emma Corrin! They go for it every time, definitely cutting themselves out to be a fashion icon that I am always excited to see on carpets, even if it isnt always one of my fav looks! Absolutely fabulous actor as well!
This green cardigan 😍 LOVE! Great video btw
OMG...how I laughed when you were doing the accent and then when you began talking about Ayo's dress. I literally said, "No, ma'am. That's not a good look"...following by "Those cups look like dumplings", which then you just so happen to actually put up a photo of dumplings. I'm happy it wasn't just me! lol
How could you not have talked about David Tennant?!😭😭😭
Loved this ❤
I wish Emma’s dress had the sleeve on both sides. It is very Poor Things and I hope she does more inspired looks!
Also the drop sleeves on the runway work far better than this. I suppose two of these leg of mutton sleeves would have edged it into costume...
@@elinstar6034I think the rest is so simple it would’ve been ok. But maybe the two sleeves mixed w the color, I can see what you’re saying.
It would have been too regular with both sleeves, I saw the ref to the film and got why she went with it
@@bucketree Eh I disagree!
Our Cate brings it - greetings from Melbourne! Elegant with a twist. Love it.
She is fab, hi from Kiwi fan in Auckland, did you see her give Margot Robbie her award in the pink outfit in Brisvegas? Middle aged Barbie it was epic 😂😂😂
Another video already?!? Omg we are so lucky
Are you going to cover the Berlinale? I think it would be interesting, the focus of the fashion is often a bit different, and I would love to hear what you think about it in this season
I do enjoy Barry Keoghan’s outfit, but I think it might have been better if they continued the hardware element into the pants design in some way.
I was wondering aloud whether Burberry might be redesigning Britain's military uniforms? Barry's outfit looked like it to me.
I thought zip pocket/pockets? The shoes were very him but I think there are some incredible boots and shoes for men around and the stylist/Burberry missed it
I love thee fact you made fun of yourself several times! Love it! Your best video yet!💋
Would love to know your thoughts about Prince William’s look. I thought he looked great!
sorry to correct but ZEGNA is fully 100% Italy, not a single blood cell of Spain in his renowned founder Ermenegildo.
I don’t hate, I don’t love it. It’s just there 😂 ❤
A comment that can be applied to many aspects of life… 😂
I fell in love with the Robert Wun gown worn byDa'Vine Joy Randolph. I would wear that gown in a nanosecond if: (1) train was drastically shortened for someone like me who trips on shadows and (2) it was a rental or a purchase accompanied by an enormous discount. I did not watch the BAFTAs, but several comments mentioned FASHION worn by David Tennant which I would love to hear Luke's commentary on.
awww I was hoping David Tennant would get his little moment on your channel haha x
Taylor Russell stole the whole show !! The red carpet was hers !! Oh my Goddess what a heart stopper of a dress. Luke on point as ever ❤❤❤❤
23:45 futuristic? That hem is 1970s dressing gown
I love that the men on red carpet are finally trying. 😌👌
Puffed sleeves in my opinion look beautiful if not overdone and they have two good uses: 1. They give space to the shoulders and as someone with broad shoulders and loving freedom of movement that is really useful 2. They provided extra warmth on the shoulders since it stores the warm air, which back then was even more important since you can’t put much fabric on this area without loosing the nicely tailored effect. I love warm shoulders too
Wow these stylists are all really slacking. Like, some of the dresses themselves are fine but the finished looks are uninspired af.
Everytime you watch HauteLeMode take a shot everytime Luke says "ancora rosso"
Add on "Pierpaolo" and we'll be so drunk we'll be saying yes to every dress:)
Love it 😂😂
Most of the dresses I just didn't care for, some were very vintage looking like old school glam. I do like the longer suit jackets for men. I never like seeing the trousers buckled up on the shoes or too short like Barry K.'s. What was that all about?
Idk Margot Robbie kinda looks like Cady Heron throwing a house party
Wait the change in opening music is kinda great but also had me shook
It sounded like you imitating the lovely john maclean [and love it]
The way you smiled about Taylor Russell ❤ I so love to hear you get technical, putting them in worst dressed, because you have tool 😂❤❤❤

Lily Collins - Tara Ralph: the flower design itself Is the coordination between the 3D sleeve-bands and the 3D hardware. Works. Note: I even think hardware on the sleeve flowers would have pulled the eye away from the center focal point and diminished the overall impact.
Cillian was indeed wearing Zegna, you were right!
