I feel you. Loving when UK folks come lecture on..., well anything, too. While not having hot and cold water tap "issue" sorted. Several decades later after everybody else 😅
I completely agree with you on the “common sense” in the civilized world, we’re going backwards! Only last week I saw someone posting a picture of an unwrapped hamburger, on the wrapper it says “this is not for consumption”……. AAAAAAARGH

Hi mate great job with your jetty. You must be so happy you are in your house now. I am still in Australia 🇦🇺 working in a rat race I don’t want to be here I am trying to retire at 58 or 60 and move to our farm at Khon kaen. To much politics here too and the cost 💲 of living is so high. You are living my dream good on you mate 👍☕️
I have retired at 61 and now build a house on half a hectare of my wifes land , one hour from Khon Kaen. Beatifull house and only 100 thousand Aussie dollars. Growing tropical trees.....
I own a house in Victoria , but the costs and council rates are tremendous.

Spot on Ben, common sense and think things through. One of the beautiful things about Thailand is the freedom to do things as you like. At your own peril, but as you like.

Also as a cable tie lover. You need to redo your bridge and put joins under so you don't cut yourself. I can tell you they hurt. Lol

Greetings, Had a friend of mine had a pond years ago same as you went swimming often one day he cought an infection in his leg had to cut half his calf out and his leg off. Better be careful!

Like you, I'm from the UK, but do actually miss certain aspects of H&S, as does my Thai wife.
Talking of which, you really need to be careful when using your new fandabby-dozy jetty. The way you've cut the cable ties, using scissors, leaves a razor-sharp edge and it doesn't half hurt when you unintentionally run your fingers/hand/forearm across them!
There speaks a man of experience, as a former motor mechanic.

Where are you guys roughly located? Me and the missus will have to visit at some point. We are about 30 minutes drive from Buriram.
We’re quite a trek from burriram, we’re on the border of nong Bua Lamphu and Loei provinces. If you’re ever in the area though yeah feel free to pay a visit 👍👍

Thanks again for showung us around! Curious if there could be leeches in the pond? A tour guide once brought us to a pond with leeches and actually picked one up to show us, reminded me of that 😅
I’ve never seen any leeches thank god. Maybe the climate here is slightly off for them ? My father in law says there are none. Maybe further south ? 👍

I don't know why you put the hand rail at the bottom of the jetty and not along the side it's meaningless where you have put it any l like your channel 👍

There are snakes but TBH I’ve only ever seen one (non poisonous) on my farm. They tend to bugger off when they hear me coming 😇

Dude , I think there are nasty parasites in fresh water ponds in Isaan , I would be careful swimming in fresh water ponds. Also eating badly cooked fish could give you those little nasties. You could end up with liver cancer in later years .
Yeah definitely can get real sick in the ponds and canals in Isaan. Microbes, parasites, bacteria and open wounds can get infected. I've seen locals getting sick from the water. And everything cooked well done. Most of all try to have a decent FIRST AID KIT and a well planned route to the nearest local hospital.
Yeah and eating badly cooked food in a western restaurant could kill you. Si whats the point. You know the man is/was a Chef....he knows how to Cook don't you think. That is excatly what he ment....over pampering everything.

Bored??? He doesn’t seem bored to me. Plenty of things to do with landscaping, and completing a new house.
I live in rural Isaan and never “bored” but I do things at a slower pace by choice. ( but I like my solitude after working in a rat race all my adult years).

No I’m not bored, I’ve just slowed down a bit last couple of weeks because I’m busy with work. I’m still involved with the hospitality industry within the Uk and most places are gearing up for a busy Christmas period. This has a knock on effect for myself, so the time spent away from my work laptop is slow and deliberate 😇
