    Absolutely one of the best Data Dives yet! This is where the $$$ is (along w the arbitrage that is cracking to sub to PSA!)! The main thing I tell customers who ask about grading is that you wanna atleast be breaking even if you get a 9. QUESTION; you said if you get subs in now to PSA you should have them back by National. So Bulk Subs are coming back that quick, ie 4-5 wks? Obviously not the June Special, though, since they say 65 biz days, right?
    Keep up the GREAT work!!! PS: Market Movers Makes Magic!

    BGS are the best. PSA need to get rid of upcharges, reintroduce the 15 free grades regarding membership, significantly reduce grading fees and most importantly hire competent graders.

      Hiring graders that don't damage valuable cards regularly would help.

    PSA is more expensive too. If your card is worth more than 10k, they charge you 1000 bucks (or more, there are higher tiers of card value) to grade the card. BGS allows you to declare how much the card is worth and then auto calculates the price of insurance for your card, so if a grader drops your card or something happens and it gets damage, you would be covered by insurance. So if you send a 10k card to PSA its 1000 bucks fee, but for BGS its less than half of that.
    PSA also does not grade the centering on back of cards while BGS does. Sometimes cards are center in the front, but the back is offcenter. Card flippers aka "investors" go to PSA because its more forgiving on their card evaluation.

    • @BrianPinas9
      @BrianPinas9 Před 11 měsíci +1

      BGS are the best of a bad bunch. I had to pay $2000 in upcharges to PSA two years ago and the cards are now worthless. The grading is a joke over there. You rarely get a fair grade. I would send cards to BGS and save on the upcharges and resubmissions. Membership at PSA isn't worth it. They no longer have the 15 free grades vouchers. BGS for a fair grade and lesser fees and charges. Nat Turner out

      @BrianPinas9 Před 11 měsíci +1

      I've received 9.5's for the centering at BGS wherein the front is perfect and the back is way off. Most companies don't downgrade on back centering

      Man i think it's ridiculous how much psa and other grading companies charge... 🙄 the price to grade a card shouldn't change based off the value of a card... and honest psa sucks. I like how beckett shows the ratings for each thing being graded. Id like to see more companies establish themselves in the grading space and get the grading prices back down to realistically affordable rates.

    I get the data analysis. I highly appreciate it tremendously and believe in it. I’m a quant and that how I traded on Wall Street for 18 years. The question I have for you is something you mentioned. You said you like trading at shows. I do as well and will travel to shows for new experiences as well as to profit. Where do those buy and sells show up in the data analytics? Do you accommodate some how for “yard sale” or “card show” deals?

    FYI, if trying to break even with a PSA9 when grading make sure to include EBay sale fees in calculations if you plan to sell there.

    I dont understand why we want a card that has a great "gem rate." All it means is that there are a lot of other PSA 10's of that card, thus lowering its value. It doesn't mean that the raw cards you buy of that card are likely to do a 10.

  • @guitarlearningtoplay
    @guitarlearningtoplay Před 8 měsíci

    And I look at more than 1 ration of grade at a time? From what I have seen so far. On avg ungraded is slightly cheaper than PSA 8 sometimes the same. PSA 9 is 3x more and PSA 10 is 3x more than PSA 9 which works out to about 10x more than ungraded. So if it is $15 ungraded, PSA 8 $17, PSA 9 $45, PSA 10 $145. So it’s odd that you found an outlier that is more than 10x for PSA 10 but only 2x more for PSA 9. That increases the risk. Which for a more expensive card would payoff but for an inexpensive card you might loss money with a PSA 9.

Highly recommend utilizing the service, great topic this week TPot luv the content.

    My experience is that probably 50% of the raw cards being sold have some defect which eliminates it from a Gem grade (that is why it is being sold). Of the other half, maybe 50% will Gem in a best case scenario, so overall 25% of the raw cards you see for sale will Gem in a best case scenario. I find your gem odds are higher if you buy redemptions and wait for the card to come, and buy encased raw cards direct from the manufacturer.

      I dont grade my cards because i moved to Europe and there is no BGS or PSA here lol. I prefer to submit in person because i dont trust mail service for my cards. I have cards that i pulled myself while wearing gloves and took pictures of them so i dont have to pull the cards out of storage, and many of them are worth 10k-100k. There is no way in hell i'll mail those cards.
