Tried out your fortification strategy yesterday as neutral (tho fascist influenced due to the need for manpower) Finland and it worked like a charm. I was the one who had to declare war since the Soviets wouldn’t come and the Germans had already launched Barbarossa, however when the reds came they were held firmly at the forts between all them lakes in central and south eastern Finland. An hour of gameplay in and I’d inflicted 1 mln casualties on them whilst suffering only 50k. Obviously by that point I had joined the Axis but only as an ally in their war against the Soviets (yay historical accuracy) and eventually with combined forces we were able to push the Soviets first out of all of Finland, then out of the Soviet territory in the east and north, finally taking Leningrad and eventually Moscow itself. Casualties: 275k for me, 3 mln for them (total of 13 mln lost against the axis). So thanks for the inspiration, Alex. It was one of the most epic campaigns I’ve played in a long while.
largest army ever challenge, see how many divisions you can get all with infantry maxed out, before the game crashes from so many troops.
Emineican Productions I got 700 as USSR ( mind you US had like 400 too)
Albin shrestha I had 1000 as USSR, (used cheats)
I once had 837 full sized divisions as PRC
or just use cheats lol, and yes take over the world whilst you are at it and only basic inf and just see how much you could get

Survive as Albania against Italy. You can join any faction.
Challenge: Play Switzerland, go communist, declare war on the axis post French capitulation. Hint: Maginot Line, Mountain Force, Northern France, Japan.

I was playing hearts of iron 4 when Alex read the comment and then at the same time the Soviet Union declared war on Finland

Play as Czech Slovakia and you have to decline all offers from Germany or the alllies
This is pretty realistic to how it all went down, nice job. Some breakthroughs early on and then counter attacks, mostly just defending. Little bit of conquest later on and then running out of supply and equipment resulting in a bit of a panic to end the war ASAP.
Challenge: try to survive as Czechslovakia. You cannot take land or become fascist/communist.
When the Finland actually had a bear fighting with them against Russia....
Good strategy I used in MP game was just using small divisions. Line artillery. Lots of forts. With anti-tank and anti-air support battalions. You end up with almost 1000 defense and the AI just can't throw anything at you to break it that early on.

The funny thing is if you fortify yourself up enough and/or join a faction, the Soviet Union doesn’t bother you. I made it well past the historical Winter War untouched and I could have stayed completely out of WW2 if I didn’t decide to join Germany on Operation: Barbarossa.

Here's a challenge: Outlast your partner Belgium as the Netherlands. Note:you can't join the axis or change governments. And you could do it the other way, and play as Belgium and outlast the Netherlands, you still can't join the axis or change governments

Play as Ethiopia and see if you can hold out for as long as you can or even beat Italy. Seems like a cool scenario!

Play as Belgium and try to survive. You can join the Allies, but you must declare war on Germany when you get the opportunity.
Here is a challenge:
1.Play as Germany (make it OP:spam Military Factories and train 50-70 Divisions)
2.blitzkrieg through Poland,Denmark,BeNeLux and France
3.When ready,declare war on the USSR
4.Switch to USSR (via console or main menu)
5.Try to survive

Finland is already on easy mode versus Russia, joining the Axis just makes it a guaranteed win.

Played a 3 player game with players controlling Finland, Sweden and Norway, formed our own faction with the intention of fighting and holding in the winter war, We actually managed to break out when Germany declared war, the 6th Swedish infantry division took Moscow, 5 months later the 4th Finnish infantry division took Stalingrad, same 3 are now playing as the reconstituted Austro Hungarian empire, Romania and Yugoslavia, France, Germany and Russia have already fallen muhahaha :)

i removed the previous list of events because i lost everything because of germany and i wasn't going to have a nuclear fallout right after ww2. so i started a new one. heres the list:
