Please know that no matter how loud they bang and announce who they are, you do NOT have to open your door. You have a right to be safe in your home and you do not have to answer any questions even if they are there to serve an arrest warrant for a petty crime you committed or traffic violation. Let them bang, watch television and mind your business. Surrender to the magistrate when you are good and ready. You do not have to willingly go into their custody.

That’s not true. If they have a warrant for your arrest and they know you are on the other side of that door when they come to serve that warrant, they can legally come in and arrest you so if you value your door, you better answer it.

The okaloosa County chief is using the registered gun to protect his incompetent officers. to the extent they even updated their website with their version of the story. It sounds like they should have knocked on the door and announced themselves as law enforcement responding to a call. If there was reasonable doubt that it may have been the wrong apartment then they should have been even more caution as they were now increasing risk by knocking on doors at 4am. I would grab my registered gun if you knock on my door at 4am as well. Where is the body cam footage? Eric Aden needs to resign because he is ultimately responsible for how his officers "serve" the communities who's tax dollars pay their bills. If they are not following procedures or the procedures are unclear, if they are not wearing body cams, if they cover up peep holes, if they fail to call EMS, if they knock on multiple doors at that time of morning then to me it sounds like a something is wrong with how they react to an emergency call. The attorney keeps saying he was a good guy but that is not really the issue. The issue is did the responding officer follow proper procedures from dispatch to entering private property. This is more that one person it goes up the chain.
The realities of this is , he was a enlisted man he was a G.I. the Air Force needs to step in and help the family of said G.I. and get the ball out of the gutter and on the lane .

Natural to think it a prank or thieves setting you up when someone keeps knocking and then playing hide and seek rather than letting you see a uniform.
When the airman opened the door, the deputy unloaded into his chest before the victim had a chance to say a word and only afterwards said "Drop the gun."

Godbless… this deputy needs to be in a court room asap. It’s an absolute shame of a sheriffs department that cannot keep getting away with these reckless shootings. We treat enemy combatants with more respect. The young man had a long life ahead of him but this heinous act Robbed him of that. The poor baby was murdered in his own home and left to die that is not excusable!!!

You have my condolences, I am so so sorry for your loss. What happened to Rogers was another example of systemic racism, just kill the black man. To many occurrences like this and they don’t care whether Roger was a good guy or not.

Covering a peep hold on the door, not announcing who they were or what they were there for, this raises questions.
To go to one hospital Rogers not there, but moved to another hospital makes no sense. In the video, Roger seemed to be really calm. He didn’t point of weapon at anyone, but yet asked to step out into the hall and before he can move he’s fired on. they knew that they were wrong. They have to be held responsible for their actions.

Failure to obtain clarification from dispatch for correct address, taking the word of female bystander, not listening outside door for sounds of disturbance, possibly Swatting call , similar situation in Caro Stream Illinois. The cop gets off on the 3rd floor. The cop should have gotten off on the 4th floor. A man in his own place. The cop didn't hear a disturbance. The cop knocked on the door and moved away from the front door. The airman couldn't see who was knocking. Now, the cop did announce the second time, but you, the cop moved away from the peephole. So, now, in my mind, am I being robbed. Someone has followed me home, or other people within the community may have noticed me with something to rob me. 🤔
So, did they ever find the CORRECT apartment where the domestic disturbance was going on? Because, meanwhile , while this deputy is shooting up this airman, someone could be getting away with domestic violence 🙄 😒

Does not matter. You are allowed to have a fire arm. This bleeds poor training and overreaction. This cannot be the normal response regardless to holding a gun or not. It’s in no way acceptable. Remember what is being condoned if this is ok. A cop can shoot you, without them being threatened (gun is not trained nor aimed at the cop). Shots can be fired because a cop feels threatened, that is a dangerous idea to be accepted. Especially when it’s over alleged domestic violence.

Two when you watch the Officer's body Cam , when U.S Airmen Roger Fortsman answered the door he hand his left hand open and palm showing and his other hand his handgun NEVER pointed at the officer the handgun was never raised his handgun was pointed down at the ground . There is NO EXCUSE NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THE OFFICER TO SHOOT AND ESPECIALLY NOT 6 TIMES. It kind of blows my mind that this was not pointed out during the press meeting . I'm so sorry for the lost of this young man who was educated and graduated, then enlisted in the Air Force to be a pilot to serve this country wide up shot and killed by law enforcement is so sad on so many levels. Mere words cannot be expressed. God sees and knows what motivated this Sheriff to shoot this young man 6x's. May God grant peace and comfort to the family. I pray that they take comfort in knowing the Jesus is the Resurrection & Life, and his sacrifice is not in vain. For the sheriff I pray that you realize what you have done in your judgement to do what you did, and ask for forgiveness. 😢🙏

Try and look at bodycam images prior to the actual incident....the airman clearly did NOT look like a threat to the policeman who had come to the airman's front door... when the airman answered his door, he clearly wasn't pointing his firearm at the policeman, his gun was pointing downwards, his one hand in surrender, as harmless as a dove....how was it that a woman was there to receive the police, and would know exactly which door to go to?...what threat can anyone be to someone when there is no person present whose life can be threatened?...what? who? why? where? how?....by the way the airman answered his door, he let the world know that he was innocent in all of this, he was no threat to the policeman, neighbors and the world....check to see how many police was dispatched to Roger's?...who had made the call?...

This is one big lie. One officer showed up at the apartment complex. The officer was informed that there was a domestic in Roger's apartment. They could her a woman screaming.
The officer identified himself twice. Roger acknowledged the officer was at the door, Roger then opened the door with a gun in his hand. The officer was justified in this act.
