Mike, next time you're in the UK, you should visit Yorkshire! Lots of lovely places to eat.. including lots of reasonably priced Michelin starred places!
Bradford for curry,Whitby for Fish n chips.
A Greggs on every street, and we do know how to make pub grub
Please visit the mosque and eat aswell
It's a shame you never leave London, fish and chips get so much better outside London.
As a Londoner.
I completely agree.
Especially in the US the fish and chips are so much better.
lol no @@porschecarrera3684
@@porschecarrera3684 haha. Good one.
@@porschecarrera3684 🤣
Glad you got to try the Bombay Brasserie buffet! It's definitely the most unique Indian buffet I've ever been to, very different to the usual places, watching this has made me want to go back
Best fish and chips in the UK will only ever be eaten at the seaside in the paper its served in. As a brit, I'd never eat it in a restaurant, especially at these prices and I hope Mike gets to try it the best way some day!!
Your so right,...........oh god Im so hungry lol
Good thing you mentioned as a Brit! Otherwise, the majority of people who are from abroad don't really know about eating it at the seaside from a newspaper imitation wrapping! They just want to try a good fish and chips, be it at a local chippy or a high-end restaurant.
Facts and I’m from London!
Same in the US. Always go to a coastal city for good seafood
26 dollars for fish n chips? And a dollop of taretare? This feels like a tourist trap that first fish shop
to make it even worst , it taste so basic ngl , thats not tourist trap that was robbery
£21 for a place like that in London, probably not too bad all things considered. Especially since a pint of beer in London can cost upwards of £5!
Average price in London and sometimes more
I remember the days when you could get a cod chips and a drink for a fiver
halibut be hella expensve
Carrot/Gajar Ka Halwa and Payasam are my favorite Indian desserts. Nice to see a buffet with both. I've seen one or other on some buffets in NY (especially the halwa)
Apart from Mayfair Chippy, I wouldn't recommend any of these tourist trap ones Mike went. There are a few nice spots in Southwark, North London, and SE London/Kent areas (like Golden Chippy you tried in Greenwich). Always have it with Salt and Vinegar, accompanied with Curry and Mushy peas if possible, PLUS battered sausage (not saveloy) Mike. Interestingly (maybe controversial), I do find Turkish and Chinese do some of the best fish and chips around. Some of the best places are at the seaside, especially in the South of England.
Exactly. Usually the most basic, run-down looking fish shops have the best quality food! Weird rule with those places. The fancy places have worse food
Best chips are in Whitby.
Agree, you have to go to the seaside to get the best fish and chips! You dont want to go anywhere that looks too fancy either!
yh mate not everyones like vingear ..and for sure not everyone likes mushy peas and or curry sauce
Fish and chips are always best by the sea or ocean. I love vinegar but also lemon juice on fish. My relations loved curry sauce with their chips. I found this quite funny first time we visited them. You wont find curry sauce or mushy peas at fish and chip shops in Australia but tartar sauce and gravy are offered along side salt and vinegar and lemon. Mushy peas are definitely an acquired taste.
That buffet looked amazing. You mention it's not like what you would typically find in the US. It's also not typically what you would find in the UK either. That buffet is just incredible, I would love to try it.
Indian food outside india is also as colorful and flavorful as in India. Good job to all indians out there.
Most of them are bad in taste, super expensive and more than often prepared and owned by Bangladeshis and Pakistanis. I had worst experiences at such restaurants, both in terms of taste and value for money. Very few restaurants I visited are good, owned by Indians and somehow manage to retain the taste to an extent. Others are nothing home to write about unless its a decent upscale restaurant which charges a bomb.
Also just wanted to point out that Mike ate at Bombay brasserie owned by the Taj Hotel group so I am sure this one is very good 💗 Hope to eat there someday.
@@axomiyabonggal4075Sounds like you decide if the food is good of bad before you even sit down at your table. Judging if the owners are Indian or not
@@axomiyabonggal4075need to go to birmingham or southall. Loads of indian restaurants
in melbourne australia we are only just starting to get good south indian here. very few and far between but I can definitely see improvements.
The Indian food looked so good. I love Indian food.
Right.... The butter chickens, lassis.... Aloob Gobi potatoes... The brown lentil mix they make
Some chippies in London can be delicious but the tourist traps are so expensive.
If you want the best fish and chips, go to Brighton or Kendal in the Lake District.
Lake district can be expensive cmon you know this
You are living my dream on this one!!!! ❤
Definitely leave London if you want good fish and chips, the seasides are actually some of the best places!
Halibut is a dense fish, so there's a risk it will be a bit dry. However, what a great flavour it is!
Whitby for fish n chips,Bradford for curry.
I don't understand why you went to a British curry house and didn't try Tikka Masala (our national dish) and Vindaloo which is extremely popular.
To be fair Mike has done multiple vids in the UK with different themes
COD is the #1 staple for fish & chips... in the UK if you get recommended something or see on the menu under "chef's favourites" etc it's either things that don't sell very well or things with a large profit margin for them (not necessarily the most expensive for you but cheapest for them to make)
That cod looks amazing.
That food looks great.
Horse Brass pub in Portland Oregon, serves nice halibut and chips. They have HP sauce too!
You need mushy peas and curry sauce with fish and chips usually Irish curry for flavour
Vinegar and fries... nice
Yall should try shark and chips trust me , its to die for
11:39 it looks like it & I'm glad he said it 😂
I was in London few weeks ago and enjoyed fish chips at Mayfair Chippy. Best in London.
Beautiful food
We have halibut fish& chip in Canada. Love it.
When I saw you break into the fish I knew it was dry. Halibut has gone up in price a lot in the last 10 years so you don’t see it as much but no it shouldn’t be dry (the first chip spot)
Mayfair chip shop for the win
Have the carrot halwa with gulab jamun . Great combo
Mike I wanna be your friend and eat with you, these vids are outstanding!
Awesome job Mikey .
When are we gonna see a review of ur ramen place Mikey?!... Also, you need to try Australian fish n chips!
Aussie fish and chips is over priced and underwhelming....NZ has much better fish and chips. And I haven't been back to NZ for 18 years.
He partnered with the guys at Karne, a Korean steakhouse in Houston.
I’ve been trying to find this video for hours 😂as it came on my feed and I couldn’t find it after
Indian food is love.... ❤ Yummy! Mayfair Chippy's fish n chips looked so delicious! That fish was looking succulent. Plus factor was the curry gravy + your hot oil mixed into it. 😊
I'm looking forward to go to Engdia, UK
as a Asian Londoner I suggest you go to east London either Ilford or Green Street for authentic Indian food by Indian chefs.
There's a place in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The Dubliner. They serve a proper fish and chips.
Went to Poppies a few weeks ago while on vacation in London. Wasn't a big fan to be honest. Gonna have to try the Mayfair next time.
I stop in at the Mayfair Chippy every time I'm in London. Can't get enough!
That frozen Halibut for sure
We went to Poppies on a London food tour and it was honestly SO bad we went to another place immediately after the tour to get Poppies out of our mouths/heads.
Fish and chips is just so iconic and delicous! Try roast dinner next man! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🙏🙏🤤🤤🤤🤤
I think he has before
That huge fish and chips for $12 is insane value, especially for London!
I love Indian food that looks amazing.
Yes! 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Try the jelly eels
Love your Vids, keep it up Mike
Mikey great video, you’re bring back more of the cinematography back to the vids like before
Great content Mikey.. watching from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
If you want fresh of ocean fish and chips go to Whitby you honestly can't beat the fish chips mushy peas and bread at any sit down place or takeaway
Yay! Been requesting this! Love london! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
🇬🇧
Brother you are offucially invited at Mayfair ...Arro london ...shephard market...many more
I ate at Poppie's last month. Think I sat at the same table as you Mikey! Great fish and chips, but pricy.
Overpriced and service is awful in there.
Halibut is the best for fish and chips!
Monkfish is better.
You should go to Whitby N Yorkshire , a proper seaside resort . They do the best fish and chips around . Any fish and chip shop at Whitby would be better than those London examples.
Great tour.
#2 then #4 probably for me
Haddock is more of a Northern thing Southeners don't know how to cook it. Great vid as usual.
Haddock is the best fish for fish and chips in my opinion
Bruh that ain’t no malt vinegar. That’s non-brewed condiment
You need to try Aussie or Kiwi fish n chips
30 pound for an all u can eat indian buffet in central london from a michelin star restaurant is amazing
Love the video brother you should come to palau and try some of our local dishes
when i went to america, everywhere i eat had no malt vinegar ! i was MADDD!
As an American I can verify that it is way underutilized as a condiment. Certain restaurants offer it and maybe it is regionally popular? I’m from Maryland originally and it seemed to be more common.
I even had one experience at a restaurant which did offer malt vinegar and the waiter watched in amazement/horror as I used it on my fries. He questioned what I was doing, and I was like you have no idea what you are missing out on 😂
Nice enough.
God Bless Your Heart Mike.
Mike, if you want an amazing British dessert you HAVE to try a Banoffee Pie. Thank me later !
YES !! (Fellow brit here) but my fave dessert is banoffee pie 😁
That's a new one on me I never knew Banoffee pie was British. You learn something new everyday.
Very excited to see a few of these places had gluten free options!! If I ever get to go to London, I'd actually get to be able to try them!
Which ones are gluten free, the Indian one?
Thanks
@@liortepper3619 17:59 The menu at Hobson's says "gluten free" approximately in the middle of the board! It seems like they charge a different price for the option, but they still offer it!
Are you a celiac? It's got to be hell eating out with an allergy to one of humanity's biggest food staples
@@philthycoder Oh, it's dreadful 🙃 You have to check EVERY TIME you want to go somewhere... I actually don't know for sure if I have celiac disease but I definitely am severely gluten intolerant (I'm actually in the middle of trying to get tests done for celiac lol).
@@arthurteddy91 ... I'm curious Mr Arthur. What does gluten do to your body once you've ingested it? And how long does it stay with you until your body fully rids itself of gluten? I'm getting older in life and experiencing various health issues that I can't pinpoint.
Looks so Delicious
If your ever in the South West of England I reccomend going to a place called "Rockfish", its a chain and I've found the best location to go is Brixham in terms of quality and freshness.
cod is always my go to for fish and chips. I always find halibut less flakey and just heavier in general
That second fish & chips restaurant definitely shits on the first one. 😂
It's funny seeing Mike go all over the world eating incredible food. And then he goes to London and is like wow this battered fried fish and French fries are INCREDIBLE WOW
Because it is. There's no need to downplay it.
He's a part time paid actor too 😂
Because it's true!
That food looks amazing
YUMMMMM!!!!!!!
The fishes look soooo good !!
😋😋😋😋😋😋
I dont like Halibut at all !
To mushy and dry like cakey.
It's, funny , I took out Cod fish last night to cook today .
10-7-23 .
Those fries looked good also !
😋😋😋😋😋😋
Can’t beat Fish & Chips in the winter, proper comfort food
Go to Anstruther Fish Bar in Scotland for a proper chippy. Best in the world!!!
Food looks amazing
That looks so amazing it makes my mouth water
I don't know who converted the prices into US dollars but they are completely wrong. For example the Michelin star fish and chips was £22.50 which $27.67, not $16
I looked and the conversion was backwards so he put in 22 dollars to 16 pounds lol
$26!?
Crikey come to Mario’s in Bristol, amazing fish and chips and won’t require a mortgage to purchase.
Also need to do a seaside one, part of the magic of fish & chips, is eating it on the beach (and battling off the seagulls)
Brooo I think strictly dumpling is gaining weight I remember when he used to look really buff
I bought one of your hot oils mike... the chili garlic crunch one. Looking forward to it.
Hey Mikey, I tried fish and chips in a quaint little village just outside London and posted my video an hour before yours! .. great minds.. lol
I gotta say your review of the Indian buffet and fish and chips makes me wanna try them too..
Hope you enjoyed London!
Mikey tell the good people of Asia and the world I hve found the next food trend. Dried fruit like ginger cooked fast hot with oil and spices... I just did ginger and curry olive oil wow. Get it hot🎉
Blimey F&C the best
Cant wait to make my dinner and sit down to watch another incredible video from yourself, Love watching you and your passion for food and travel!!!! Your amazing, keep doing you and enjoying life. Take care from England
Hey Mike you should explore the other places in the UK not just London we have great food throughout the UK not just London
I went to the Bombay Brasserie buffet yesterday and it costs £48 NOT $36.
Mushy peas are not just mashed peas. They are soaked in a weak solution of baking soda. This breaks down the tough exterior of the peas. They naturally come out mushy as they are cooked.
wow that sounds horrible to eat
@@kaleb5926it is
@@kaleb5926, yep. Mushy peas are absolutely disgusting.
@@kaleb5926 It is an acquired taste.
@@kaleb5926And many are pre canned, they taste like metal
Next time you’re in the UK, go up north, away from all the tourist traps and overdone places. Get to Lancashire and Yorkshire, especially for fish and chips, but we’ve got a lot of local, filling, homely delicacies for you enjoy too
Hey Mike ... Come 'on with exaggerating your cost to us viewers, because your math is a whole lot off. You ordered the 'Mayfair Classic' which is £22.50 GBP. You say it's cost you $16 USD, when in actuality, that is $27.55 USD after conversion. The GBP is still stronger than our USD (24/09/2023). The Indian Buffet did look amazing though ...
I love your videos sm
Hey Mike. Go to Manchester, Liverpool.
I absolutely love Cod!
oh my cod! looks amazing!
Cod is my favorite. It is so mild and juicy. Rarely get a bone to pick out.
Palak paneer is my favorite 😋 That halibut at the first shop didn’t look good. Neither did the price for what you got. That second and third shop definitely look like the better options.
Been there
Those fish and chips look amazing though
