- Stone shore fishing: Are these small hooks the best way to catch more fish? It’s another mashup episode from the Totally Awesome film library. First Graeme heads off for a spot of shore fishing trying to catch the elusive Red Mullet. He uses an unusual small hook that is well worth a look at. Then he recalls a winter session making a project for Mike using free bits of pallet wood (Is there nothing he won't try making?) Finally, on a freezing, sub zero day he decided to revamp his pots and troughs ready to take his summer project of planting.. it certainly looks cold but our man is always out there trying!

I just joined after watching you and your son that hung the little round house for your granddaughter. She is a lucky little girl to have such a wonderful dad and granddad like you two. Love all your videos with your son. I'm sure I'll love these too, and now I have another good series to watch. 🫖🦀🦞🎣💖
You are the best, Graeme. Thank you for teaching us all.
Good to see you again Graeme, feels like it’s been a minute or two! Far-out buddy! 👍👍🤘✌🏻
I’m always amazed at the composure of the British public. When Graeme is out fishing in busy places they walk right by without going mad or pestering him for autographs or photos! 😉 Great video, thanks!
It’s all the camera equipment he’s got pointing at him 😂
table part was awesome XD
Thanks Graeme and crew. I was waiting for an expletive or two at 16.30 when you hit your thumb...thankfully it passed without incident. Our fishing up here is scant at the minute, I,m going to have an overnighter on the spiles Seaham in the next few days. Regards Stuart Bell from the tropical North
I'd have thought you were too early for the red mullet.
Started sea fishing a year ago and watching you gives me new ideas especially on a budget, thanks Graeme
That's something I like about this channel, he still fishes like someone's uncle rather than a walking advert for thousand quid rods. Feels more like your out there with him rather than watching him on an aul video
Red Mullet fishing In Portsmouth is a bit more productive down towards south parade pier. Fantastic bream fishing there also
Great nights viewing Graham. You’re never still are you, try and and take some time out mate. Thanks
Good video Graham like watching all your videos you and a couple of other CZcamsrs who have inspired me to do CZcams Keep up the good work👍
The monkey business had me a giggling, thanks!
Another totally awesome video
Well done Graham. You and me both need to get out doing bits and bobs. Waiting for season to start I want to get back the the river seven, Bridgnorth to Upton. Like to try Welsh border to Shrewsbury. As I have lived on the Welsh coast for nearly 30years I have a need to get back to my roots. Keep going mate.
Best baits for mullet fishing
Protip: Use an epoxy add mix to your grout with a acrylic bonding agent. It will never come out.
Really enjoyed watching hope you get your fish next time around and love the pallet dryer bench
Nice video Graeme 👍🎣, surprised you didn't use a small section of ellack band ( red , green) . Just to keep that bait on a micro barb hook 🤔
Good job🤙🤙
Hi Graeme, could you give me a quite spot to try for some wrasse on a rocky headland please. I've had some on snapper out of Weymouth Harbour, but not sure what shore is best. Thanks
Just watched a take on your ground baiting CZcams HOW TO CATCH YELLOW SNAPPER Fishing with oatmeal SUB yellow tails for bream say Clever take by some bird No weight just Oatmeal Could be a good lite tackle buzz to be had fishing small tides and slacks Summer evening style Take care all and thanks for another great film Pete
If you go to fish were Graeme is, it'd be better not to cross the barrier. It can get very wet and slippy, people, have fallen in there, ask me how i know.
Great vid again Graham full of info as usual 🎣👍
I know the garden bit was a while ago, but my thought is the grouting between your patio slabs get water in them, freeze/expand, thaw, etc which will make them cracked and brittle and allow even more water, freezing, etc...
Have you tried a waterproof sealant after refreshing them?
Also, I believe you could grow vegetables in you planters and replace them with flowers after harvest?
Tough luck with the red mullets...
Another good vid; always look forward to them!
I’m more gutted I missed you fishing in Portsmouth where I’ve moved to ☹️
Love the opening Track
Enjoyed that bonny lad. Good mix of everything interesting! I noticed you didn't prep the bbq, you know something we don't?
Use a product called “easy joint “ for your patio it is fantastic
Easy joint I'll try it too thanks
Try using PVA in the muck mix and also painting the gaps in the slabs with PVA, it works wonders for me and may do the same for you., best of luck..
RK.
I've got some PVA left from plasterboarding last week,I'll give it a try.
Nice filming of the various boats around Portsmouth Harbour. Great tips on the fishing and you didn't blank. There must be some sublime message to speeding up the hammering and slowing it down. ( My secondary education has not helped me suss that out yet). Great tips on the pots never stood them off the ground, still a few to plant out so will try it with the few. What a bloody awful few weeks of rain, noticed after no rain for nearly six weeks it just has not stopped, rain every day so far for May. Its not a case of watering runner beans its stopping them swimming off! The weed this year are a lot worse as well. As always thanks for posting.
The weeds love the rain...it's been dire,I don't think I have known a May like it. Been flat out ripping a property up on a refurb so just crashing out at night so tired...no fishing listed in the diary with this weather. I wanted some fly fishing but seems no natural insects about...who can blame them..but with this weather I just want the bathroom fitted out,the plumber and electrician to turn up at the same time and the wind to go down...is that asking too much?? and maybe the 3rd booster jab coming early as well.
Hovercrafts amaze me. Must cost a fortune to keep in service!! Allot of maintenance I would imagine...
Chesil beach at west bexington is your place for red mullet off the beach graham! I always have at least 5-10 each year there :)
In a word, Yes!
You can catch a fish on a very small hook/ low strength line and disproportionate sized bait np. Doesn't appeal to me. Great content as always 👍
Those gripz hooks are a gimmick, if the hook is under tension then the ridges are nowhere near the flesh and if the line is slack (ie. where a barb would prevent a hook backing out) then there is no pressure to make the ridges grip. Made to catch anglers.
The curve shank design is a solid enough shape of hook though, they're meant for carp fishing and to be used with a knotless knot (hair rig). With the line exiting the front of the eye the curved shank forces the hook to turn into a prone position as the line tightens against a bolt rig.
Thanks for the definitive comment. I have used them a few times now, along with Kamasan and the old Partridge Carp hooks(I still have a few of the latter after 40+ years) and they all seem to catch fish. But I do like wide gape hooks.
👍
Frost heaves
How did we ever get by without sawsalls!!!!
Graeme try mixing unibond in with the mortar and paint the joint with it before you point it. that will stop it coming out.
It might be the way to go,thanks for the tip. But should I use sharp sand and cement or regular builders sand and cement ??
@@TAFishing Building sand will be fine,
@@TAFishingI use sharp sand mixed at 3 to 1. Paint the joint with waterproof PVA then parge the mix in and point up.
Try setting the microphone settings to mono Graham, the sound will come out of the middle of the speakers and not to one side.
Ha! I was listening on one headphone thinking it's really quiet 🤣
Where did you buy that bait from Graeme? The last lot of bait I used down that way was from Cosham Angling, maybe give them a try next time
If the slabs had been laid on a screeded bed of sand you would not have that problem. When the slabs have been laid on dots on each corner and in the middle it creates voids under them.
Mike, you and your dad are living an adventure. Thanks for sharing this.
We are 2
Shocking worms. Try to buy directly off diggers but I know that’s not always possible. I enjoy using my barbel rods for sea fishing, especially wrasse, mackerel, garfish etc.
Hey guys, I am travelling to TCI (Turks and Caicos) soon. I want to try ocean fishing (I have been fishing since I was a kid but mainly lakes, ponds and rivers - small fish). I bought a travel spin rod (15-40 g from Savage Gear - it's a freshwater rod), do you think it would work with 20g (3-5" lure) soft plastics in flats? Also, I was planning to buy a Daiwa Seahunter Z Travel Boat Rod 30-50lb or DAM Salt-X Travel Boat Rod 300-600g cw . I might only go for one or two boat trips whilst I am there, so most of fishing I will be doing will be probably from the beach or rocks. My questions: 1. What line and lure weight can I use with both rods (The Daiwa doesn't mention CW, only LB rating). 2. Can I use it from beach/rocks or only boat? 3. What fish can I target with these boat rods and on what line :) It's hard to find specific answers out there. It has to be 4-5pcs so I can take it on board. Many thanks,
You fished my usual mark and i wasn't there to meet you gutted ain't the word 😔
Have you not got a chop saw bud?
No,I just use the recip, I'd be a bit concerned about not playing the piano if I got involved with the chop saw. But I know the professionals use them.
@@TAFishing haha good reply mate 👍
Seem like a bear with a saw head today Graeme... unlike you. Unsure about red but mullet tend to be more top water/float caught to my knowledge, better luck next time!
Use geo fix jointing compound
I like the monkey business.
👏👏👍👍
Hi Graeme. I think the problem with your patio is that because it's been dot & dabbed it allows water to accumulate in the voids and when it freezes it expands and blows the pointing. Great gorilla impression by the way. Put me in mind of my ex wife!
Nice intro but let it play longer.
Hi Graeme,
Ref your Slabs. A full Mortar Base should cure your problem there.
I'm no expert as you always say, only trying to help. Ha Ha.
At least your not cracking up with all the restrictions.
Steve in Fife.
I'm cracking up but not as fast as the cracking up in my patio....
@@TAFishing Ha Ha Ha !
Hi Graeme, I noticed the nails weren't rusty or bent, did you actually buy them or steal them off Mike ?
Someone left me an old toolbox with nails and screws in...happy days !!
@@TAFishing don't believe you xxxxx
Love the video keep up the good work ❤️
dude its 20odd minutes long and you put that after it being up of a few minutes. you dont even know whats in the video :D
I thought fishing by one's self was allowed in the u.k.
Artificial maggots or real maggots. Ragworms or artificial ragworms
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Your poor wife must work so hard mowing all that lawn.
She loves it...better than paying a gym membership that never gets used...gets exercise, saves employing a gardener ,more cash to spend fishing...all sounds good to me !.
@@TAFishing Ha Ha😆 it’s a wonder you don’t get her to Cary your fishing kit down to the beach.
🤔I bet you get her to dig for worms as well .
southsea is the worst place to fish these days, i used to go there 15 years ago and it was full of fish
Ants 🐜 under the patio? Just a thought
I did think that, but some of it cracks in the winter.I must have done it five times. But the Gripfiill is still there.
what do you pay now adays for good rag worm
I think I have paid £18 for 1lb weight...but was almost frightened to put them on the hook..I wanted to get them in the bank account as soon as possible...You never know there could be a new crypto currency there..."RAGCOIN".....
@@TAFishing i always remember it cost a lot before you cast out when it comes to bait, i dug all mine in the day and enjoyed it
Sorry but I'm done with tiny ragworms !!! Ive been getting worms that can't be threaded on the hook !!
To be honest ,that table is awfull 😂but if it suits you then it’s fine
Still holding the tumble drier up so I guess it can be classed as a success...
Hiya guys. Listen you know we like to go fishing for all matter of reasons.. example was; in 2012 loosing my dad to cancer. Know 9yrs later my mother's been diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. I'm in shock as am I being disrespectful towards my brother's and the local lady herself??? I apologize that I'm off topic but It's ok to fish and think? HELP!
Its a tough one, my own Dad went with cancer at 53 and about a year later my head got cross threaded when it all sunk in. You never know when/how shock is going to materialise but take comfort that you are not alone.
Mate please go fishing ! Catching a fish is a bonus .. being by the sea helps clear or clarify the mind . Good luck
is anybody else having trouble with the audio it's fine until you start talking then nothing
Might have recorded in mono for a while.Mostly noticeable for head phone users. Eventually I'll think about a camera upgrade.
