The G6131-MY pays homage to Malcolm Young’s famously battle-hardened Gretsch Jet. Nicknamed “The Beast,” Malcolm certainly made the instrument his own, removing two of the three pickups, stripping away the finish, and pounding out some of the hardest and most memorable rhythms the world has heard.

A nice melody of some classic AC/DC tunes, I could hear “for those about rock”, “have a drink on me”, “hell’s bells”, “back in black”, “thunderstruck”.

Despite having that large, open bodied cavity this model seems to be able to handle reasonably high volume volume and gain levels without excessive feedback issues, correct?

@@CreamCityMusic true pu height makes a difference, however, judging from the sound of just about every demo of this guitar on CZcams, it’s very obvious Gretsch used a slightly modern sounding pick up to appeal to a younger consumer fan base and make the guitar appear more versatile.

Great guitar and playing. Tone definitely way to saturated for a true Mal tone though. Also the stock pickups in those guitars don't help as they don't give a great Mal tone otherwise wicked guitars!

Hi , love the video and the tone is all malcolm and nice playing. I have the same signature malcolm guitar and a Marshall SC20C 800 lead series studio classic amp. I have seen guys getting the great malcolm sound like yourself . Are you going straight from guitar to amp, and what are your settings on your amp , pre amp, master, treble, mids, bas, presence please as I am getting very frustrated anything I try doesn't work. I would really appreciate knowing your complete up .
    Thanks
    Geoff

Idiocracy!

Demos always with too much gain. I think most people interested in this guitar are interested in how this guitar sounds from a rhythm aspect.
