I am so happy and thrilled that I had the opportunity to have been part of the crew that rebuilt part of the Cyclone back in 1992, I actually worked with Walter Williams who came from Rockaway Playland and did a great job of refurbishing the cyclone, rebuilt the entire lower fan curve on the Surf Avenue side of the coaster !!!.. it was a thrill to be on that crew that crew and to know that every time I go there and ride it it has a piece of me !!!!

It's a great coaster! And I have every reason to believe it will be running again ASAP.

My family have been riders on The Cyclone since 1930. We still ride it to this day. Love ya Cyclone.

We have our own Cyclone rollercoaster at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City - it’s terrible. It always struck me a bit funny that a place that actually gets tornados would spit in the face of nature.

The Cyclone still holds up today. I absolutely love the insane laterals on this thing

Long Beach Pike had a copy wood roller coaster I can't remember the name of but it was huge, a double track too. I remember it was a harrowing ride for a 7 year old who had never felt Zero-G before. It didn't survive the 1970s and was removed, but they had a smaller coaster. The Pike and its dark rides is gone now, the land was too valuable for a bunch of tattoo parlors, a peep show and arcade games where they had a WWII trainer for nose/tail gunners for a dime. It was badass. The rides disappeared in the 1970s as the land was eaten up. It was LA's version of Coney Island.
Huell Howser Visits (a CA travel show) has an old video he made of the last game building left at The Pike. You might find the video interesting as it has a clip of Eddie Cantor doing stunts on the coaster in the 1920s. You'll enjoy the video.

Damn, I will definitely check that out. It sounds right up my alley. Parks need a little seediness, IMO.
