- One of Dreamland's most popular attractions was a miniature village where up to 300 little people lived full time. How did this come to be? We're going all the way back to Ancient Egypt for this one.
You bring so much humanity to all of your historical subjects. Fascinating stuff, Ty!
Thanks!
I learn a lot with each of your videos and particularly enjoyed the emphatic lens of this one! I think we still have a fair way to go to stop treating little people as a humourous novelty
I appreciate that! I'm digging your work too.
The Blowhole Theater in Steeplechase Park also had a little person on stage giving shocks to the people exiting from the Steeplechase horse ride.
Apparently the Cyclone did for a while too. I guess that was just standard practice at the time?
I really enjoyed this, maybe figure out a way to have music at certain story transition points of the story if you can. It would just help break up the points as well as prevent any monotony.
Thanks! And that seems like a good idea. There are so many details to pay attention to!
I live In Middleboro Mass. The home of Tom Thumb.
You mean the fire that Dreamland claimed was Hotter than Lunapark's fire did Dreamland in?
That' something that sounds right out of Hell-Gate. ...wait.
An interesting new direction, Ty. I enjoyed your presentation and look forward to more.
Glad to have you onboard, Roland!
I lived in the village for 3 months. I was only 4 inches tall.
How is there 1.3 views and 3.1 thumbs up? Sketchy..
Strange things are afoot.
I could swear that a Midget is a diffrent kind of small person than a person with dwarfism?
So, it was never a medical term, but PT Barnum and others used the word to mean a person with hormonal dwarfism, which results in an overall more proportionate body than achondroplasia dwarfism, in which the limbs are smaller but the head and body are larger.
@meetmeindreamland Yes that's what I learned way back in the 80's growing up. My confusion was that it seemed to be implied as medical terminology to explain the diffrence. Thanks for clearing up the terms for me.
@@SchardtCinematic My mother told me the same thing when I was young!
I'm under 5' tall, and I sometimes get called a midget to this day. I just laugh😂.
Ugh, that sucks, but at least you can laugh it off.
I always said if I got rich I'd buy a ranch and have little people run it. Give them all jobs.
