DIY Folding Outfeed Table for Table Saw / Mobile Workbench EP 6

  • This is the sixth video in an eight-part series about my new mobile woodworking workbench. The main idea that led me to designing and making the outfeed folding table is being able to put the bench by the wall so that it will take up as little space as possible when I’m not using it.
    At the same time, being able to open it to achieve a larger work surface so that I can cut and mill large workpieces whenever it’s necessary.

    Love this idea. It's not exactly what I need but, I can adjust it to make it work for me. Love your craftsmanship and attention to detail. Just a great, great compact design that is SO multi-functional and acts much larger than it is. Love it. Thank you from the US!

    I just finished watching all 6 parts. I have to say that you are an amazing craftsman. Your engineering and design is fantastic. I already have a large shop here in the states, but I really got pulled in by your professionalism. I will not be building the bench, however I did share it with my son. He is going to purchase your plans for his garage shop. I will watch your other videos for ideas for my own shop. Take care and Happiness is making sawdust.

    Do you realize you created a system the allows a DeWalt table saw, with potentially inaccurate miter slots, to operate with precision because of your build that lives on the left of your saw? Everyone knows these DeWalt table saw tops have inaccurate miter slots because of the grey coating. This solves the problem of my 2 year quest. I was going to re-top the table top surface but not after watching this. You should make a video that directly is targeted to people that loose sleep over this. I made a drill press top and it was not perfect and all because of my table saw. Fix this and everything else is true. Bravo Paoson Woodworking! Problem, solution solved! AWESOME!!!

  • @dmark2639
    @dmark2639 Před 2 lety

    Pretty amazing design! I would suggest making those folding outfeed wings longer to support sawing full sheets of plywood without tipping. Maybe a secondary folding layer to the wing could be engineered on a piano hinge? Or even just a few extention rods that would pull out from the extention wing. Just enough to prevent longer cuts from tipping off the extention wing. That could be dangerous as you reach over the blade. Just some ideas for improvement.

    i really love this construction. but i stumbled upon a bigger issue with the guides of the fence. In your build the guides are being blocked to the left of the saw (5:41) by the sled. do you have to measure the width manually now (because you are using the third pair of fence lock screws - that are probably for guiding the wood left to the saw) ? or did you glue on a third ruler next to two that came with the saw/fence?

    Beautiful work. This is very nicely thought out and engineered. One question I have is, every time you remove the sled or fences, how do you go about squaring them to the blade/router bit. I know modularity comes at a cost, but how much time do you burn by moving between operations?

    I bought these plans and WOW! For the low cost, you get SO much! I have paid for other plans as well, and none of them have ever been this detailed, awesome and thank you for all the work!
    QUESTION: For the outfeed table, is there a reason you didn't make it deeper? In the Sketchup plans, it is 400mm but the side table is 661mm. I'm planning on making the outfeed same as the side support folding section but wanted to know if there was a reason you didn't make it longer?

    We kept finding we needed a folding table. This is so easy to store. czcams.com/users/postUgkxStL0QRChBju4aQlnTrRgBZvafFog0KU3 Opening and closing is easy as well. It has a great handle for carrying around the house. Its pretty lightweight and slides around easy. We bought it for our daughter’s first sleepover. Breakfast was a blur - but 12 7-8 year olds fit at the table with room to spare. We used it at thanksgiving and 6 adults fit comfortably on each side plus 2 on either end for a total of 8. Super easy to clean up afterwards as well.
