SU played that song in their gospel show this season, they know it. The artist at the Classic was singing her own arrangement, don't know if they didn't practice together or what but she was doing her own. She was doing the lead at times and the background part.

Southern disappointed me this year I'll give them a C+ maybe a B against the real comp in the SWAC. The annoucer for Gram said they not playing by Southern book or rules....Maybe they should've because they sounded 🗑️🗑️🗑️ Did A1 take a page out of KB book and start to focus on Gram's dancers. Prolly just me!! 😂😂😂 It's safe to say some of GSU musicians entered the transfer portal early before the battle. 😂😂 Southern better be careful that some of theirs don't go to JSU because Sonic Boom been on warp speed this year!!! 🔥🔥🔥

As someone who’s sang all my life singing while being accompanied by a band is difficult to be honest it isn’t them it’s her. I’ve done it and not been successful at it. The organ or piano is much easier because of what your listening to so that you can stay on tempo with all the instruments it can be hard

KB i admit this hasn't been southern's best year but if you expected anything better from Grambling you set yourself up. Almost every year throughout the season we say how much they have improved feom the previous year. Then, they get to the Classic and sound like this. Om not surprised just disappointed
Dude I was there. I sat on the 50 in a lower tier section. SU’s sound was like surround sound and Gram sounded like your grandmother’s old black and white 15 inch tv 📺

@35:50...when you're singing with a band as backup...the soloist has to know where to come in. Don't know why, but she seem like she didn't know if she wanted to sang lead or backup. She was killin me. Back in my day "Doc" woulda waved her off and band woulda took over. Band still sounded good...just can tell they ain't practice that together. We used to do that a lot, but we always made it work. :) 88' the Greats.
As reference imma say that whem othee bands battle Southern its like going to the superbowl. It brings out the best im them. But, when Grambling battles Southern they play like they're going to the electric chair.
Grambling needs more band members and better pen writers.

I respect what the directors are doing, but during the Haymer years the Jukebox had that ‘It’ that a lot of the band heads know is missing. I don’t remember J-State just waxing the Jukebox like they did more than once this year.

I just feel like SU arrangements are predictable; trumpet run/inflection in the middle of song, embellish a few notes to add spice, be super loud and aggressive for no reason sometimes, meh… just gets boring sometimes. SU is good… but I’d like them to get back to a more polished band with emphasis on musicality.

Gram damn Fam yall haven't been good since Dr. Parnell left, no offense to ole girl but they been mid since she took over. My girls 6th grade band sounds better. Stop trying to give kids partial scholarships and give full rides to get them numbers up.

I have a child that attends Gsu & both bands did great. Please stop.. we have got to get it together….❤

First off everything ain’t gotta be about race lol and he’s literally grading each round because it’s a competition. Nobody is out for Gram. Not doubting anybodies kids abilities but I’ve been a decent musician in mediocre bands and this performance from Gram was trash no doubt …..sorry 🤷🏽
