Wrong they can be explained and they should the reason why it works in some cases in Champions league because it's a lot easier in terms of amount of games to win the champions league than to win the league . Of course in the UCL the best teams play but sometimes they have an off day and the underdog can cause an upset which is why we love the sport every so often a team like Chelsea in 2012, Liverpool in 2005, or Dortmund this year reaching the final they obviously prioritised the cup competition over their leagues those years and also had a bit of luck to get far in Europe those years.
You can also include Milan vs Barcelona in 1994 Champions League Final.
Even though Milan and Barcelona were enjoying their best periods at that time, if we look at the squad depths, Barcelona were much better. They won 4 La Liga titles in a row and the first European Cup with Johan Cruyff as a manager. They also have some elite footballers, like Ronald Koeman, Romario, Hristo Stoichkov, and (of course) the future 2 Treble winners coach Pep Guardiola. They played some kind of good football with Cruyff.
Milan had completely depleted squad before that game. There was no infamous Dutch trio Rijkaard-Van Basten-Gullit, with Van Basten getting injured during the 1993 Final against Marseille. Not to mention, Milan couldn't field Baresi and Costacurta for that game because of suspension.
But what followed next really shocked the entire world. Cruyff decided to not start Michael Laudrup because UEFA were only allowed for each clubs to field 3 foreign players, at that time. In the end, Barcelona paid its bad consequence by losing heavily 0-4 to Milan.
Not a great analysis, Moreno clearly doesn't watch Bundesliga.
First, Dortmund played with 10 substitutes, and they don't have the depth of Real Madrid which their team-B could compete on the CL. Second and this is more important, Mainz was fighting to avoid the play-off 16th place and they succeeded, and would be needing a single point in their last game against Wolfsburg to secure their spot at the BL at the expense of Union Berlin. Grenada on the other hand had relegated already.

It's so easy to understand if you really watch them and not act like you do when you don't. The big problem is that dortmund have a large number of players that aren't close to the level of the club. And when most of them play today, they are on the level of Mainz or even below. They can't be consistent when they have the most inconsistent players in the club.

Mainz has a good team, they just haven't performed to their standards for most of the season. Now they haven't lost in 6 or 7 games and might just stay in the league without having to go to relegation. Dortmund has every right to rest players. If Bayern had beaten Madid and played the next game against a team from the bottom half Tuchel would have done the same. Especially cause players like Sane, Musiala, Gnabry and Kane are injured and have been for a while.

This was team-B for Dortmund against a team fighting to stay at the Bundesliga. BVB had been underestimated in all rounds, and they proved the pundits wrong every single time.

Dortmund got thrashed 4 - 1 in Bundesliga before beating PSG 3 days later. Bayern in 2019 got beat 5 - 1 Bundesliga a few days before thrashing Tottenham 7 - 2.
This is due to many factors; rotation, mentality, lack of focus on Bundesliga now etc. But all these experts should also keep in mind the quality of German football this year.
