    The Misunderstood Basketball Player
    Once upon a time, there was a talented and skilled basketball player named Caitlin. She had been playing basketball since she was a little girl and had always dreamed of joining the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Caitlin practiced tirelessly every day, honing her skills and perfecting her game.
    Despite her dedication and talent, Caitlin faced challenges when she tried out for the WNBA. Some people believed that as a white, cisgender woman, she did not belong in the league. They argued that her race and heterosexuality prevented her from being fully accepted by the predominantly lesbian African American players in the WNBA. Caitlin struggled to understand why her race and sexual preference should matter in a sport where skill and passion were supposed to be the only criteria for success.
    As Caitlin navigated through the trials and tribulations of trying to break into the WNBA, she realized that prejudice and stereotypes were still prevalent in the world of sports. However, she remained determined to prove her worth based on her abilities and hard work, rather than on superficial factors like race or gender.

      @vanhattfield8292 Před 9 dny +2

      The WNBA made $200 million in 2023. The NBA contributed $15 million, but that money doesn't go to the teams, or pays player salaries. It goes towards the operational costs of the league, such as offices and facilities, marketing and administrative costs. The big thing that is never brought up when discussing the contributions made by the NBA to the WNBA is that the NBA is the majority owner of the WNBA, with 60% ownership. When the NBA contributes money, they aren't giving it to the women, they are giving it to the part of the business that "they" own and control.

    • @vimmentors6747
      @vimmentors6747 Před 9 dny

      @@vanhattfield8292 According to undisputed media reports, and AFTER the contribution the NBA already has made, the WNBA will lose an additional $50 million this year. Soooo.
      You really can't separate salaries from other expenses. They all are operating costs. Salary cap leagues recognize and deduct these costs from the pool available to pay players. And the NBA has been very generous in passing along all revenue they get. But if the "owners" decide to stop losing $50m per year, the options are a league where players have no amenities and get paid a lot less, or a few of them can play in Europe and make A LOT LESS.

Other teams I had to sell my tickets for 100 dollars less than face value and sometimes I couldn't sell ground level tickets for $30. Players like Caitlin are worth every penny and she should be a representative of the league, Don't take it for granted, an injury could be catastrophic, the WNBA should capitalize on it now. BTW I feel Caitlin is getting the Jackie Roberson treatment of the 1940's to 1950's. It is a shame, I thought as a people and as a country we would have evolved better than those of 80 years ago.
