    I bought my very first Fiesta March 1988 in Columbus Georgia. To this day, I still think 🧐 of her. I’ve had other vehicles 🚗 but my Fiesta is my favorite 😍. She was my first brand new car.

    I just aquired a 1988 Festiva L 202k miles, 4cyl, 5 speed. It was in a junk yard for 2 years. I saw it, looked at it, no one touched it. I took it into the shop at said junkyard, put a battery in it, sprayed some starting fluid down the carb, she fired right up. She needs a few things, and this video was very informational. Thank you, and have an awesome day.

      They're good cars once all the quirks are fixed on them! Make sure to run it often as those carburetors don't like to be idle for too long.

    I had a brand new 1990 back in 1990 and it was a great little car. Had some friends who picked it up in front of my house and put it on my front lawn since it was so lightweight. I got in 2 accidents with it. The first I was waiting at the centerline of a two-lane road to pull into a parking lot on the left-hand side. when a pickup truck just grazed the side of my Festiva and ripped the side off like a tin can. I'm convinced if he was just a millimeter over he would have killed me. We got it fixed since it was mostly body damage. The 2nd accident, a guy stopped short and I slammed on the brakes but the car slide like a hockey puck and hit him. The engine totally smooshed into the cabin area and it was totaled. It was a zippy car, but there isn't much protection between you and the outside world.

      Yeah those cars left much do be desired in terms of safety. I believe they still make them to this day in Iran under the name Saipa, and they have been in the news for being unsafe, and apparently the modern versions of this car are not the most reliable. My grandfather almost had a wreck in my mothers 91 Festiva. They had gone on a trip and he had been driving for way too long. Well, long story short, he dosed off and bumped the guardrail of the highway. That certainly woke everyone up! In that case, the damage was minimal and being a white car, it was hard to see unless you were up close.

      Over hundred km per hour you must use lower gear with brake pad.also every three monts you must balace your ring.we have this car nowadays in iran.and you must very good driver to control this car in 140 km per hour speed.😉😉😎

      @carlosjanevlogs9322  Před 3 lety +2

      @@kaveazadmard5237 Definitely! I wish they still sold the car out here. It really doesn't feel bad at 140 KM. There are some long sections of the highway which have you go at that speed. Haha I hope they don't increase that limit, but that is close to the car's top speed.

  • @gregmccarter3243

    great car... i had 2 of them my last one was a 1988 with only a 4 speed rough on the highway....when i had the oil changed they could never start it until i told them you had to pump the gas 2 times to start...lol also love the flat dash you could put a cup on there like it was a table...

    • @carlosjanevlogs9322
      @carlosjanevlogs9322  Před 3 lety

      It seems like all these cars have their quirks. Mine takes forever to start and has a slight stumble on acceleration, my grandma's won't start in neutral, and can easily run out of gas as the gauge can fool one.

    Wikipedia indicates in the US the LX model such as this always came with alloy wheel rims as shown on this LX. However, I own an '88 Festiva LX with all the LX add-ons but has the original style rims as seen on the L models . The lack of the motorized front seat belts (which per Wiki became standard beginning with the '91 model year) shows this is an early model however. If this one is truly an '88 model year, there was perhaps a cross-over of the wheel rims sometime before the end of the model year. If I am not wrong, the alloy rims became standard for all the models beginning with model year 1990 or so, as I have not seen a later model Festiva without them.

    • @carlosjanevlogs9322
      @carlosjanevlogs9322  Před 3 lety

      Hi! I can vouch for the fact that this car is an '88 as the manufacturer label indicates that it was built 02/88 and the vin reports that it was received at a dealer in 03/88. This car has had the same rims since my family purchased it used in '91. The Festivas in Japan also used these wheels since 1986 along with the Kia Pride since 1987. Sadly, the Saipa models never used these wheels.

      @carlosjanevlogs9322  Před 2 lety +1

      Most likely it will not with the current engine. It's definitely not as powerful as it once been. Now if you engine swap it, like take an engine from a Mercury Capri, Mazda Miata, Protege, that's an entirely different story as they would be much more powerful. A good amount of parts from those cars would be plug and play on the Festiva, even more so if the car is a 1990 or newer.
