I used to have a 1988 Ford Festiva.. bought it new off the showroom floor, it had 5 miles on it new. It was a good little car, I sure never treated mine like this.
***** I currently have two festys. A yellow 1990 I picked up last winter in KY for $500 bucks. It has loads of little issues, and 260K on the clock, but starts everyday and gets 40+mpg even with a big car top carrier bolted to the roof. I use it for storage at the marina I live at. They're great little cars, way better than any hybrid. Simple is the key, nothing to go wrong :)
I have a 91 Festiva 5spd that I dropped a cold air filter on when I first got it. The absolute funnest vehicle I have owned in my life. Leaves me laughing at each shift lmao and with it gutted down to just one driver seat and nothing else interior, it can be quite fast with 60hp. Many a time i have had people laughing at this pillbug's getup. Plan on cleaning it out and doing a resto-mod on it with maybe that b6t swap as the sun has eaten up all of the interior plastic 😥 love this little car. As a footnote, I remember seeing this car for the first time on that Free Credit Report.com commercial like 15 years ago banana yellow with the guy playing guitar on it and saying to my dad 'WATCH; That little car will be MINE one day!!' Little did I know.. 😂😂
These are tough little car and quick for what they are, the Metro on the other hand isn't as tough but the engine can last forever and still never have a ring ridge getting 50+ mpg the whole time.
Oh how I long for the days to return back when Americans hated turbos, saying superchargers were better. It left room for the proper drivers that realise all a turbo does is slow down the car's reaction time.
These little cars are weapons on the race track. Toss a turbo capri engine in it and go beat up on Vettes, Porsches and Ferraris. Don't believe me? check my channel.
