‘Life on Mars’ Sequel! Details of the Table Read with ‘Gene Hunt’ actor - Steve Nallon

- While it's sad news that the Life on Mars revival series, Lazarus, hasn't be given the go-ahead, there is still some good news!
In a recent event at the BFI, fans still got to experience what could have been in the new series with an exclusive table reading.
Taking place at BFI Southbank on Sunday 19th November 2023, fans were treated to a "dramatic table reading of the first episode".
According to the event's description: "Life on Mars chronicled the fish-out-of-water adventures of Sam Tyler, a Manchester policeman who is struck by a speeding car in 2006 and awakes to find himself in 1973, and part of a very different police force. A spin-off, Ashes to Ashes, followed. A third instalment, entitled Lazarus, was announced but was never made."

Clearly, it wasn't woke enough for the BBC. It's such a shame,this is one of the best shows to come out of Britain.
What a damn shame. So many fans of that show, especially knowing it was a good script.

This was another excellent interview, Pugwall! I need to see LIFE ON MARS but the premise sounds very intriguing. It sounds like it has a potential to go in some very interesting directions. Even though, I'm not familiar with the Gene Hunt character, the story was fascinating and shed a a lot of light on what goes through an actor's mind. Very much appreciate these interviews, Pugwall!
I watched the first series - the concept of time travelling to a less politically correct time and the character having more fun is quite prevalent now to some people I think haha! I wasn’t expecting to go down this avenue so I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Three different interviews on the way soon too! Movies mainly! Thanks as always Todd!

Life On Mars was the original - basically a cop goes back in time to the 70’s. It’s worth seeking out. Looks like this is the closest we’ll get to the sequel. Thanks for watching bro 👊 appreciate you

Will this table read be released to online at any point? Also was John simms character, Sam Tyler, supposed to be in the script, curious as I have just finished life on Mars for the second time and currently watching the spin-off ‘ashes to ashes’ for a second time
I know it was held at the BFI and I asinine they recorded it, so might be worth checking their website/channels. As for Sam I think it is mentioned he was performed at the read I believe. Thanks for checking out the interview. Appreciate it.
