We hope you enjoy Veritas! Let us know if you’d like to see this story go further… Who would like to see a feature film version of Veritas?😊
2nd
Maybe a limited series, like the did with Firefly
A continuation & a feature presentation would be welcome ✌🏾
@@adamch7887 Lol, maybe in the future, they play by modified rules.
Would love to see more of this story.
CC is a must. Non-native speaker like me is having hard time discerning it all.
Native speaker like me is having a hard time too. Mumble mumble mumble
@@chadwells7562 Oh, good. I thought it was my hearing deteriorating even further.
Yeah me too, I'm wondering why in 2023 we can't have subtitles
@@elfieblue3175 I use subtitles on almost every show, most shows are super mumbly. When they’re dark and you can’t see the actors’ lips it’s even worse.
WHY ARE THERE NO CAPTIONS????? I enjoy a good sci fi story as much as the next person, but when you can't understand the dialog...it's just wonderful moving pictures!
Same here. Pls enable captions for deaf people and worldwide viewer's ‼️
I second this. Some of the dialogue is difficult to understand for the hard of hearing, even with the volume turned up. Please turn on CC. Great story, very well done! Would love to see more.
Why not simply require the world to cater to your personal wants and needs?
Besides, if everyone got what they wanted on these amazing videos, worldwide, it wouldn't be long before the videos would become unwatchable to anyone.
@@williammason9789 Well, you seem nice. I'm sure if the tables were turned you wouldn't have a single complaint, even if the key to making good into great was the simple click of a button.
13 minutes of this story is not enough. Give us prequels, sequels, side-stories, whatever please.
With storytelling and world-building of this caliber, there Will be an audience. I will be part of it.
Excellent stuff. Thanks for this. I can't wait for more. ✌️🖖
Appreciate that! Looking forward to taking Veritas to the next level.
It always amazes me that with all the time, effort, and money that go into these shorts that the one thing they almost all fail at is providing Closed Caption...
Interesting. But the audio made it hard to follow what people were saying, so I probably missed some of it. No subtitles either.
Am a disabled boomer with some twichtes that come of being a professional U.S. soldier during the Cold War. Long before I signed on the dotted line my best friends could not understand that sometimes it comes to tooth and claw.
So cool to see what the kids (which are everyone my kids age of younger) are doing with technology: Am counting on them as the 'grred is good!' faction of my generation sold out the legacy; which some of us recognized all along, that our fathers and mothers earned for us. So sad that so much of the output is so dystopian.
Had a Sci Fi class on the way to my degree (BA 1973) that caused me to buy a three volume anthology (my oldest digested every page) and onty one story was so far gone that I could not suspend my sense of disbelief. Came the plague and Jack Vance's "The Moon Moth" suddenly became a thing.
Wish we had not left such a mess, but I still believe you can do it. You are all better prepared for the future than we were.
Yes. Expand on it, but please let truth, justice and love carry the field. I cannot live in a world bereft of what a single act of courage can do for us all.
I had those books too. I wore out two box sets, I read them so many times.
@@russward2612 As do I. Duct tape is magical.
Another dust movie, where i completely don't know what's going on..especially at the end...it just goes off!!
I'm not a chess expert but I think he made an illegal move with that King. Actually, the king was not in danger at that moment. Also, that checkmate is not checkmate, King can still take the bishop.
A short film that leaves you with no answers, and many questions.
Add subtitles or get a better sound recording of the dialog.
Stories are told with dialogue. Here, the score overwhelms the dialogue at times making the story hard to follow. I sit with my hand on the mouse, adjusting volume back and forth -- up to hear the dialogue as best I can, then down when no one is speaking. If captions had been available I would have set the volume to the score and read the story.
Right. The actors seemed to mumble. I couldn't hear what they were saying and the caption function was disabled. Could someone explain the plot?
The sound was so low, I had to turn my headphones AND pc all the way up and I could still barely hear it. Besides that it was decent.
No Closed Captions for the hard of hearing? Wow
@@wanaced6 The music was loud enough but the voices were muffled for some reason. Probably bad editing or equipment.
they sell miracle ear hearing devices
say what
@@prestonhurst the speech was also mono instead of stereo.
There are many Star Wars homages evident in this film, from the fashions to the boy's father having a resemblance to a younger Uncle Owen when Anakin Skywalker was a child.
The Short is great, but at 2:54 the chess game, he can't move to that spot with the king, only option is to eat the pawn.
Yes, just make both pawns "clear", and it's fine.
The sound/voices were too low. had system sound 100% and still missed words. CC was also not avail.
Question? What happened to all the "Subtitles/Closed Captions" for all the newer Dust programs? Sometimes the sound for these are really low, so it's nice to be able to read what is being said. All of the older Dust movies had this. But now with these newer Dust movies I find myself if I can barely hear what the actors are saying, then I'll just stop the movie and go watch something else. That wasn't a good move whoever came up with not making that available for these videos anymore because these stories are so good.
Same here. Please enable captions for deaf people and worldwide viewer's ‼️
Please add closed captioning.
CC please!
Decent. Personally, the better film imo would tell a story about the events leading up to this.
Also, what was the point of sending out these broadcasts? Just words of encouragement? The technology is advanced enough to allow for space travel but the resistance can’t send a direct message to their own people about the data shard? Imo it would’ve made more sense for the bad guys to covertly intercept a secret message between resistance groups.
I’d be interested in seeing more if this has a unique story. If this is just another version of Star Wars then no.
I couldn't hear what they were saying and the caption function was disabled. Could someone explain the plot?
Nice cinemaphotography, cool wardrobe and sets. CGI was pretty good as well, especially the little drone buddy. What on earth was the storyline and who were the random group of earthlings arriving to pick up a device from under a bush whilst broadcasting their intentions loud and clear in the vicinity of the anti-radio mass murderer. Yes I certinly would like to see how the story unfolds over time. Just been watching the fabulous Dark and 1899 so yeah I'm all in for a story that has a logical beginning, middle and end.
The chess move he made with his king - to the right of the advancing pawn - was illegal. You can't move into check!
Plerase, please PLEASE could you include captions so the deaf can enjoy your work too?
It's so not fair if we cannot understand a single word of dialogue simply because someone couldn't be bothered add subtitles
Sound balance and quality needs a lot of improvement.
Well I would love to see more of this fine adventure. Please make more
Since the shard was near his ship and nowhere near the injured Veritas, that would suggest the Sgt was the one that hid it for the opposition to find after he landed. Makes you wonder what is really going on.
I see that some of the comments reckon this was good. I couldn`t tell because I have no idea what was going on, because I COULDN`T HEAR THE DIALOGUE.
All that chess talk and nothing in the end referring to out maneuvering or winning. Had a great start then a quick death to the movie.
Would like to see more, please.
A bit of volume wouldn't go amiss
I'll watch when I can hear it...
I would love to see a film version of Veritas!
Would love to make that happen for our fans. 🙌🏻
Great short... But too bloody short... I want some more please.....
This would make a great series!!
We think so too!
Love how the ship sounded.
Very well done. Yes, the dialogue was hard to hear at times but that happens with commercial TV and movies too. And captions would be helpful.
A great short. Good fx, great score and an engaging story. My only criticism is you didn't give enough information to give us a sense of where it was going. Namely, what was the data cache? That would have given more of a tantalizing insight into the rebel's cause. But we'll done. I was quite absorbed.
Please enable CZcams's closed caption option! Mmmmwuh!
How much time and money did you spend on the audio effects that make the dialog hard to understand?
How little would it have cost you to have someone type the dialog into the closed captions?
Please provide CAPTIONS.
Excellent, to the point, great acting, yes should be made into a series of shorts! definitely!
Got sound?
I would love to see it go further!!!
This is Hard Science Fiction, in
the tradition of Isaac Asimov,,
Robert Heinlein, and Arthur C. Clarke.
More like DUNE than STAR WARS.
Someone should've checked the sound levels. This is frustratingly low.
Filming location appears to be the Badlands around Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. Lots of dinosaur bones there.
Well this was definitely just a taster so you will have to develop it, but do something with the sound too. Found it very hard to hear.
Good luck to you in your work. I hope you go on to make meaningful films like this one can be.
I'd absolutely love a full length feature set in this universe. This was so clever and I want to know more!
What was so clever about this? Earth was ruined, fighting factions, girl on run....i think I've seen this story fragment 200 times.
Did you not see the map
of the Americas?
North & South
Western Hemisphere?
The Universe is HERE!
Excellent!
Yes, it would be great if it continued. If you decide not to continue it, atleast give it an ending.
We would love to continue this story, who knows what may be coming in the near future!
@@BinaryOrchestra Time travel?
Good video. Has the feel of 'Andor'. 🤔
I hear your message loud and clear.
very very good..id like to see more.
For a 13 minute film, I was completely inside this world for 12.9 seconds of it.
I would really be interested to know the back story. See where this movie could lead to. Well done on this I hope to see more!!!
I think we could definitely showcase the backstory, and also the future of where this story goes!
@@BinaryOrchestra excellent 👌👍
Yes, already waiting for the next scene.
One of the best DUST shorts Ive seen recently. Good concept for a movie or a weekly series.
Reminds me a bit of the 3 season SyFy channel series DEFIANCE - where Aliens arrived, ships mysteriously blew up and terraforming machines went crazy Fubar'ing the Earth.
Thanks for the kind words!
Exactly my thoughts
Really? This is just a repeat the same old stuff.
😂😂😂
I remember watching this short years ago. My opinion still stands. It's an all round excellent production. I hope more stories from this universe see the light of day.
Excellent in every way but the storyline. I feel like I was watching a scene plucked out of a longer movie rather than an entire movie.
One of the best !!!
Amazing film
Gold Stars!
Great movie short. I got drawn into the story almost immediately and wanted to see much, much more than over 13 minutes of the story. I especially wanted to see that murderous SOB sergeant get what was coming to him before the movie ended but I would love to see a full feature story of what I saw here on Dust. Great actors, great scifi special effects and animation, but especially a great storyline that you get drawn into as it did with me.
Since the shard was near his ship and nowhere near the injured Veritas, that would suggest the Sgt was the one that hid it for the opposition to find after he landed. Makes you wonder what is really going on.
This is pretty good. Visually appealing, costume & landscape. From the audio standpoint, I found it difficult to understand the dialog, but the music & sound effects were too loud. Also, it seemed unresolved at the en, which I understand is common with short films.
Otherwise, good work.
6:05 - And here I thought that the goal of the game was to water the field of battle with the blood of your opponent. But that's just me...
😀
This needs to be continued. I love scifi. Greetings from Acapulco.
Very intriguing. More please
the terraforming of planets will still be very complicated no matter how advance the technology is
Phenomenal!
A big inspiration from Dune, of course, but from some uses of the Mongolia too, like to offer vodka to the visitor.
Goog short movie.
NEKO
I would like to see more of this.
I caught that sirus xm receiver on his wrist , for some kind of Future tech... Lol..space graphics looked good ..
This has the makings of a longer, perhaps mini-series. Well done and intriguing!
Did you know "Ve ri tas" means; "Vocal track volume" in the ancient Klingon dialect of "Kham Pu Lehtbhulshitakah tu lo"?
I enjoyed everything! Except for the extreme variation in the volume.
Amazing enjoyable , thank you.
See the person running on the top of the ridge at 8:49??
Opening scene for series - kid explains king thing to friend.
This is how to make engaging and entertaining sci fi. Great work!
Thanks for the kind words!
all in, excellent pilot. You have my interest.
This was awesome
We live it each day..in our minds
Unable to watch. Can't hear or understand anything they are saying and you have no closed caption(cc) available.
I hope we get to see the kid get some revenge on that sargent.
Yeah, it's a good start, let's see where it goes.
A decent storyline. Like other comments, your sound engineer needs to reedit the volumes and channel balances.
Unfortunately the sound was poor, the dialogue unclear so the action had no connection,
KEEP 'ER GOING!!!
my phone is full blast and i barely hear them talking.
This gave me Destiny 2 vibes. 😅
With under title would be more easy to understand what is happening for I do not understand always what people say.
Great job 👏 👍
It was hard to hear and did anyone else notice the illegal chess move the guy made? He moved into check by the white pawn.
looked like the hoodoos in Alberta!
Absolutly awesome definately a winner worthy of a series keep it going great acting and story in the area of StarWars 😁😁😁
Thanks for the kind words,
Seriously? 😂
Can barely hear the dialogue. Please add captions.
This is an interesting *Project*
More please
Hoping human 2.0 is programmed to win by friendship and not death.
I enjoyed this.
