If you want even more survivability at the cost of Vial: Frenzy Dust you can swap to medic. It also has a 25% all damage 5% crit perk (exact same as alchemist), and comes with a lot of really strong healing perks not to mention very strong survival skills and regenerating relic charges.
Another alternative is Challenger. You get up to 35% all damage and 10% crit to enemies within 10m (tapers off up to 20m), a revive, stamina cost and regen delay reductions, and rampage is similar to Frenzy Dust but ALSO gives a damage buff. The stamina cost and regen delay reduction is particularly nice if you want to run something like the Leto Mk1 set (personally I just prefer how it looks).
And for anyone who doesn't have Nightweaver's Grudge 2 decent alternatives are Insulation Driver or Whispering Marble. Both give 15% all damage at full stacks of bulwark, with Insulation Driver also giving permanent Haste. These pair fantastically with Atonement Fold + Hardcore Metal Band, and you can go even farther by dropping Atonement Fold + Hardcore Metal Band and using Whispering Marble + Dried Clay Ring for 4 stacks of Bulwark and 25.2% All Damage, at the cost of 10% crit rate from Atonement Fold, and this also frees up an extra ring slot for whatever else you'd like. Of course if you have Nightweaver's Grudge that combo is going to be superior, but since it's a difficult item to obtain this is a good alternative in the meantime.
Overall I really like this build, just wanted to offer up some alternatives for anyone who wants them! I do wish my character didn't constantly complain about bleeding though lol
Medic has consistently been my favorite class to play, they hit hard and are too angry to die if you play them right

Amazing build It's even better on co op. You can revive teammates while taking hard hits from bosses on apocalypse , and the Night fall hits hard on apocalypse on co op to . It melts even when teammates builds that don't do much damage great job my friend. 😊
After playing remnant from the ashes , a class dedicated to taking concoctions seemed silly, since you could take as many as you wanted in that game. Roll on several months and now it’sa new and interesting mechanic which can be enhanced with trinkets and mixing of classes. Alchemist primary builds can be made fun and great for supporting someone struggling with apocalypse

I'm fairly new to the game. Just finished the campaign, but this looks fun and I will make effort to get all the items.

Curious, since the DLC, what's your thoughts on Momentum versus Fetid Wounds for the Nightfall mutator?

The facts (1) that bosses are so different from mobs, (2) that affixes can break builds and (3) there were no build save slots suggests that designers expected players to use versatile builds. However, those same facts (now with presets) reward the opposite behavor.
I made and nearly got every item in the game again because there wasn't save slots and I hated having to take like 10 minutes to completely change my build each time. Never been so happy and pissed off at the same time.
Both games just got added to Game Pass 😎

Do you really need a very good build to beat Apocalypse? Or can you just go with whatever you have (maxed out) and try it? I might try this build but i think there's too much going on with buffs, rings, mods etc 😅😅
The more I've played Apocalypse the more I feel like Atonement Fold is a trap. You can maintain that same damage reduction with Whispering Marble, Dried Clay Ring and Guardian's Ring (higher damage reduction if you swap Guardian's Ring out for Soul Guard, play Handler and spec into Blood Bond) and you can do it without suffering the -50% healing received debuff that comes from having Bleed on you all the time. The only things Atonement Fold can do for you are the Alchemy Stone and the Wrathbringer's buff.
I find it strange how many rings pre-atonement fold were difficult to make use of, but are now explicit atonement fold combos.
This actually works amazingly well as you have good survivability, but you're not totally gimped DPS-wise. The fact that Nightfall isn't automatic and only has 10 in the clip annoys the heck out of me, though. I'm going to replace the hardcore metal band with burden of the follower and try to keep the uptime on the Nightfall mod more frequent to help mitigate that.

All the highest dps builds use the same items, I’m waiting for the patch to fix the issues with status effect dmg being less the longer the duration. I’m not sure if it was intended but I doubt it cause that wouldn’t make sense.
Yeah, I really wanted to enjoy a good status build, but sadly not very good right now :/

U can make a good build without using all of the gear and items but some of them are key. Maybe u right. We need more variety
Imagine making an archetype that specializes in status damage, yet does significantly less dot dps then without... apparently there's an ongoing argument that status duration is working as intended...
The popularity of leto armor (dmage reduction being so much greater than evasion) should be a warning sign. Or maybe it's that balance for medium difficulty (where most players live) breaks down at max difficulty (where the hardcore live).

HUGS self bleed build is probably the best build in the game after the DLC, with the 6% lifesteal, 5 bulwark stacks, and 25% damage amulet (or, night weavers grudge), in addition to the already crazy DPS of the standard HUGS build

@@luckymania2433 there’s a ring in the DLC called the atonement fold that gives self bleed condition and 10% crit. You want to pair that with items that boost you stats when status afflicted.
Amulet: nightwavers grudge/Neckbone necklace (+dsmage/crit)
Hardcore metal band (5 free bulwark stacks)
Alchemy stone: 6% perma lifesteal
These all stack giving you insane damage AND survivability with the bulwark and lifesteal.
I ran this with ritualist/medic for trash mobs clear (miasma), and with HUGS for boss battles. It’s one of the few Hugs builds that actually has solid survivabikity
Whenever I see the bottom filled with concoctions I'm out.
Why? You can drink 3 as alchemist and lasts like 2hrs or so...those injections are not that much impactful

I've bnever leveled the alchamist; now i have an excuse.
Leveling every archetype is fun and useful if you want to try different builds
the number of maxed classes affects how good the relic fragments you will drop. :D
