- Honda's Grom is the motorcycle that never grows up, which is wonderful for the Peter Pan in all of us. As Joe Rogan once quipped, "Remember when you thought there were adults in the world." Regardless, the Grom is a bona fide motorcycle requiring real suspension and a real setup.
He always does those setups with such ease and confidence, and that Grom with it’s full suspension tuning was actually quite interesting.
Thanks for the compliment. Started in 95, so I have had a few years to study and refine what I do.
Racing Bros fully adjustable suspension for the Grom is life changing. The only other necessary mod is Michelin Power Pure tires. Don't buy an exhaust, don't mess with the Airbox or the ECU, just get the suspension sorted and carve corners with more confidence than any of your sportbike friends, seriously.
Power pures suck lol. Kenda kd1’s or kd2’s are about the best sticky street tire you can buy for a mini moto.
@@DWBmotorsports Coming from stock IRCs, the Michelins are the right mix of durable and confidence inspiring for the type of riding that my Grom most often sees, Kendas burn up way too quick for me. I'm glad you found the right tires for you and your needs. 🍻
@@PMitchell106 agreed they’re worlds above the stockers. I guess it depends on how hard you push in the corners
I bought mine with ecu flash and intake and exhaust with cam and 60% springs. The thing rips and makes it way more fun. Obviously its not supposed to be as fast as a big bike but if your into tuning things and tinkering then you just have to upgrade it if it exists lol
@@Shmack_ I agree. Every little bit helps when you start with 8 horsepower. I don’t need a faster top speed for what I do, I just want more power to maintain speed on uphills in the mountains where I do the majority of my riding.
Having watch some of your videos, I find it shocking how many just don't have the mechanical aptitude to understand suspension...but that means lot of business for you.
Been watching him for a long time. He is a MASTER tuner. When I get my 23 yamaha MT-07, I will be having him tune my suspension for sure💪
Hornet? GSX-8S? No reason to buy an MT-07 in 2023
@@PMitchell106 😂that’s a good one! Good luck!🤣 I’ll enjoy my MT-07🤙
@@kyled4156 If you want the worst-performing bike at the highest price, the 2023 MT-07 is the one to get 😂
@@PMitchell106 I have to admit, the GSX-8S is a sweet looking bike! And has a lot of nice features on it, wonder why they don’t have it priced yet??
Someone tell this guy, it's okay not to know anything. He seems ashamed to be a new learner. We all start somewhere bud.
Salute you Dave Moss i learn it so mutch from you thank you !
Thank you very much for using DMT content to learn from. I appreciate your kind words!
Bike suspension ,,,rock hard ..and back it off a bit 💪☘
I have a (2022) Suzuki V Strom SX 250 which is a 250cc Adventure based motorcycle and have driven 1400 km (870 miles) on an odometer.
My place is usually hot. Roads are not usually good. I mostly ride with my wife.
Please advise how much tyre pressure I should inflate and what level I need to set the rear monoshock for my payload for better stability at confident highway cruising.
Rider Weight: 160 Kgs (353 Lbs)
Pillion Weight: 75 Kgs (166 Lbs)
Kerb Weight: 167 Kgs (368 Lbs)
Stock Front Tyre (100/90-R19) Pressure: 22 Psi (I use 27 Psi)
Stock Rear Tyre (140/70-R17) Pressure: 29 Psi (I use 37 Psi)
Suzuki Recommends 22F/29R for both rider and pillion as Stock.
Front Fork Stroke: 120mm
Rear Wheel Travel: 143mm
Factory Rear Monoshock Setting: 3rd Level (Stock)
I currently set it to Level 6 (Maximum Level is 7) to cope with my weight and pillion weight.
I may have missed it. What was his desired sag setting for the Grom?
Total of static plus rider was best between 25-30mm mm front and rear based on fork and shock travel used
Going to handle like a different bike
Dave I have race tech suspension in my zrx1100. It’s set from the previous owner and I don’t like it. Is this something you could help me set up properly?
100% yes. I will need you to email me: dave@davemosstuning.com so I can send my questions to you along with information that I need to be accurate in my suggestions.
