    Im a full on Brit, very proud of my English heritage. The Haka is something NZ can be rightly veryy proud of, every time i see the Haka done it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. This clip shows the tradition being passed on as it should be. Great clip.

    I know it's probably not what a guy wants to hear directly after showing us his fiercest Haka, but I think your son was absolutely adorable at the end there when he really got into it! Don't tell him I said that though... I wouldn't want to hurt his feelings. : ) An thanks so much for this wonderful video series... you're very good at explaining everything!

    Thank you and your son for demonstrating and explaining this Haka dance so perfectly, I've been trying to learn it so I can give my 3 sons a Haka dance of honour. It's perfect.

    the esoteric meaning of the haka is about accessing the fire-breath from within the ether of the air, this is the ture meaning of haka - 'haa' = breath, kaa = fire. The postures, stances & motions along with the outstretched tongue r all geared to expressing this internal energy to charge the body with the vital 'hau' - haa = breath, u = to enter. There is more, of course, but can't be explained in this forum, & probably shouldn't be, but I hope that helps some.

    So did the women do this beside the men? Where was their placement inside the dance as I see there is the female version of this. Also, anyone who can break down the chant/song for clarity and even translate I would appreciate it.

      If by "the christian part" you mean her mentioning the word Christchurch, it's because that's the name of the city in New Zealand where she lives. The only connection to christianity is that the city was named hundreds of years ago by a christian!

    is this haka slightly different to the one the All Blacks do?

    • @kaiyachase5693
      @kaiyachase5693 Před 4 lety +1

      It’s a specific haka, created by the iwi (tribe) of Christchurch after the earthquake. The first line translates to “Christchurch , rise up, rise up”. It’s a different Haka compared to the ka mate.
