Super Shuttle is New Zealand's airport transport service delivering kiwis and travellers to airports around beautiful NZ.
Our Christchurch team were really affected by the recent earthquake and as a close-knit company we wanted to do something as a national unit to show them our support.
We came up with the idea of a SUPER HAKA, and from there the idea just grew into an idea that all kiwis could get behind.
The SUPER HAKA will be held on Thursday 19th May 2011. And we want everybody to join us.
Enjoy the haka videos we've made and join with us in doing a SUPER HAKA for Christchurch!

genan
yes
Powerful Haka. Thank you
I've been finally in the right mind to look into my whakapapa, and these resources for those of us who are reconnecting with our Tipuna is so beautiful. Ngā mihi nui o te iwi, o te Whānau. Arohanui X
Can anyone translate this?
I believe this is a modified version of the Tēnei te ruru haka created for the city of christchurch after the earthquake... Otautahi Maraka! Maraka! Otautahi Maraka! Maraka! Tēnei te rūrū Te koukou nei Kīhai māhitihiti Kīhai marakaraka Te ūpoko nui o te rūrū Terekou He pō, he pō, he ao, ka awatea! Otautahi (Christchurch) Rise up! Rise up! Otautahi (Christchurch) Rise up! Rise up! This is the morepork ( NZ owl) Who calls, Whose head does not toss From side to side, nor up or down The head of the morepork is steadfast on its shoulders As it calls us From the darkness From the darkness And into the world of light To a dawn of new understanding The haka is a call for people to rise up, to stand firm and strong. Performed with either men or women at the front, this haka is simple and effective. It is quickly becoming an anthem throughout all schools in the South Island. The haka is primarily a posture dance. The way the performer holds him/herself during haka is important. Performers need to be able to exude a sense of strength and invincibility. They need to balance this with their ability to be nimble and light of foot when required. The best haka people are able to flick backwards and forwards between these states in the flash of an eye. I hope that helps!😊
@@glorfindel7652 the original tēnei te rūrū has Tahu Pōtiki instead of Ōtautahi right?
Please can you post the lyrics x

Hello from France Do you have thé lyrics and the traduction of this beautiful Haka ?
🔥🔥
thank you with a few months to go before new hospital opens will learn this
Thank you and your son for demonstrating and explaining this Haka dance so perfectly, I've been trying to learn it so I can give my 3 sons a Haka dance of honour. It's perfect.
Bula from Fiji. I coach youth basketball and our girls team have decided on Tamahine as their team name. With a Maori name, I'd like to ask if it would be appropriate for them to learn this haka. The team name is a result of them being ABs fans. Age group is 15years and under. There are around 25 of them and growing. Thx.
KiaOra Jone! Definitely, we'd love to see the haka being performed...
Thanks @@graemedobson6730. My daughter's pretty stoked they'll have a haka. Will upload their first presentation of the haka and will post the link here. Thanks again. TC.
If I do this everyday I may not get COVID19. Y
Right!!!! 💝 This Haka is stronger than any bad, destructive thing. God bless you! 👼
Thanks 😊☺️
What are the words to this?
I have to do this for school
Thank you this helped me learning this for my dance routine Then theres the men hitting there chests violently
Por mas que seja uma aula, o garoto faz com muita vontade !

.-. We were doing this at school... XD
same here
I loved the haka I learned from you guys
thanks yeah
Guys and girls do the actions different to girls and guys do it the same
I love doing this haka, especially doing the female actions ,it is so easy to do and learnt alol all the time
Suggestion...COULD YOU WRITE DOWN THE WORDS AND ACTUALLY TRANSLATE WHAT IT IS WE ARE SAYING ALSO COULD YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THE HAND MOVEMENTS MEAN? I DONT WANT TO JUST COPYCAT AND BE A POSER..I HAVE GREATEST reverence respect admiration and love for the Maori people and this is an important sacred tradition and i would never do this dance haka just for kicks..it signifies and represents the fierce fight to remain steady unchanged and alive forever no matter what happens endurance and pride hope and love a great love for the land the people ancestors culture and fellow man who doesnt have ill intent but mutual love and will join the fight to protect that which is so sacred..the right to be who you are meant to be...no oppression or malice.
me and my class is doing this haka and the boys are doing the male one
Thank you for posting this! I was looking for a video that showed the full haka with men and women.

You have the best tutorial for haka on the net. Unfortunatly i don't like the christian part of it. I would love to see tutorial for tradionnal haka. Thanks, respect
If by "the christian part" you mean her mentioning the word Christchurch, it's because that's the name of the city in New Zealand where she lives. The only connection to christianity is that the city was named hundreds of years ago by a christian!
Anthony Griffin For real?? So i falsy remember seeing the traduction and thinking it was a christian haka. Thanks a lot for the info
christian my who whre
The boy is 7 years old, when he learns the haka.
hes 19 now🤨

Christchurch is the English name of the city they live in, Ōtautahi.
Mate, Christchurch is a city in NZ.
Bruh
So did the women do this beside the men? Where was their placement inside the dance as I see there is the female version of this. Also, anyone who can break down the chant/song for clarity and even translate I would appreciate it.
Can anyone break down/translate the words or pronunciations?
awesome
White people please lol
such a great culture and such a pleasure to watch mother and son together Kamate Kamate!
ok kinda pervy
I love that I can look up tube to find and learn "Kaitahu" waiata and haka's, Thank-you, so easy to learn this way especially since Ive been living O/S for 34yrs.

Yo, I know this is five years old, but how did it go?
TheDorku lol we didn’t actually do it. Our teacher was shit. He’d constantly make us learn things and then just abandon it halfway through 🤷🏼♀️
