The electric home video they love to say "at the touch of a button." Fortunately, I was able to watch that video on my totally electronic smartphone....at the touch of a button.
Westinghouse really nailed it. As a man, the weather control center is definitely my favorite part of my Total Electric Home.

Funnily enough the movement detecting lights are one household innovation that actually did come to pass. In the front & back of the home we now own my late grandparents installed security lights way back in the 90s. They still work to this day.
Like watching Night Flight on USA in the 80s.

@@Oldbmwr100rs His book "July 20, 2019 - Life in the 21st Century", published in 1986, is an interesting read. The date July 20th, 2019 is exactly 50 years after astronauts first landed on the moon. He died in 2008, so he would have seen his communication predictions come true with the advent of the internet.

You know, the Letterman segment was a parody of predictions about the future. Not to be taken seriously even though we do have long range thermometers now, in the world of the future.
Wow...8:15 to 9:35...nothing right. Such blindness, predictions based upon only upgraded versions of what already existed. There were lights so in the future...automated lights! (which all need a "buttnnn" to activate. Vinyl LP's in a rack instead of, what? A refrigerator that, instead of being placed vertically in an outcome, is instead strewn across the available kitchen space. A television that...oh boy!...swivels. What a world!!!!

At 21:10 so much half-truth in that seemingly amazing ad. It says the robot-made dishwasher was made in the most advanced dishwasher plant in the world. Truth: the factory was built in the 1950s, but rapidly retooled with robots, using the recession of 1982 while the workers were absent. The robot method's advent meant workers at that plant lost hundreds of jobs in the next few months and years. It was the first step in GE "Neutron Jack" Welch's policy of ending opportunities and turning cities into rust belts. But the ad frames this as the hope of the future. Never believe a corporate image ad.
