Dont buy USED miners GPU's cuz cards are probably overheated, not maintained properly and have no warranty on them. And why we would want to support miners with buying theirs cards. Let them drown in their cards cuz they wanted them soooooo much that they screwed us gamers with no second thought.

When it crashes I won't buy those gpu' s used for mining, and I'm buying straight from nvidia. Take that retailers and miners.

It now takes a year to pay of the cost of the cards assuming payout for mining stay the same... But payout is steadily getting lower and lower every week so my guess is all those who are using all the money on buying mining rigs now will never make enough to get the investment back. I predict soon all us gamers can enjoy baying dual GTX1080ti`s dirt cheep used when all the mining fools start to loose money and see they will never get the investment back and start selling flooding the market.... But for now I do my part mining with my GTX1080ti getting free money and free heating of my room while at same time help lowering the prices of coins to help bring collapse of the market :)

2 months later* Still waiting for crypto currency to crash...
I never knew a GTX 1060 costed 200$ at one point. I've jumped into the game way too late, and I'm gonna have to rethink my decisions. I'm considering just buying a Nintendo switch or getting a GTX 1050, but even 1050 prices are up.

I would say let it sink in. It needs maybe a month or two. If cryptos stay low (or even lower) price will probably drop (not only because the used market but) because there won't be that many miners/gamers to buy all the cards that retailers ordered now (since it needs quite a lot of time to arrive) to keep up with the high and overpriced demand. Gamers will not buy it just as now they won't and for miners it's an unsafe investment now.

A 1080ti does not cost that even when it came out it cost about 700 to 800 if you pay that amount of money your being scammed or robbed

I have been waiting for the crash. That way I can try to get a decent graphics card. I wanted to build my own computer as I have never attempted that before, but I'm starting to think this may be a while and a prebuilt is the way to go.
You could a mod a decent computer like a dell optiplex 790 by putting a GTX 760 or 1050ti and new power supply. *If* prices go down, its just a matter of upgrading the card and/or psu. While its not pretty, its cost efficient.

Tried to buy 2 1050's last week around $100 from 2 sellers and both sales got cancelled, I assume they just didn't update their price. Good thing I'm on the HODL side of things! I mine whenever I am not gaming... or making coffee...(long story, don't ask), which is most of the time. Good thing I do not pay for electricity, but I only have an RX 560 (MSRP) and later and RX 580 ($300ish so not too much of a kick in the jewels), and my HODLings have shrunk quite a bit in the last month. I WAS trying to save up for faster RAM buuuuut.... maybe I need to GPU and CPU mine at the same time. Brett, time for a video about THAT.
Better yet, one rig with a couple GPUs, a nice CPU, and a few extra terabytes of disc space just to cover all the mining bases with one rig. Many of us have similar rigs and want to know what the dilly, yo! I am disabled and do not have the energy to make such a monster, but you, young buck, could throw that together in a couple of hours. We would want to see the actual power consumption for the ENTIRE thing, monitor(S) and all. Make it happen, dude! Pretty please with a #PapaLinus on top?

Crypto will be bouncing back. This will be short lived so I wouldn't count on the price of GPU'S dropping anytime soon.
Hopefully with the new gpu architectures 3rd arty manufactures will kick production up reducing shortages because i feel now they don't want to make a burch this close to a new launch for fear of overstock.

It has bounced back a bit. Ethereum was mid to low 500s last night and is now in the 700s again, still nowhere near the ATH (All Time High) but is still going up.
Im on both sides, I had $3 in ether in November, which is now $7, and I really want to see what that turns into, but I also had to settle for a gtx 1050 ti instead of a rx470 or 570 because gpu pricing is so extreme

Reasonable video, hopefully the prices do come down to more reasonable prices. My rig is still profitable, however it's been dashed to about 1/4 of what it was about a month ago. No one ever said life was easy. All else fails, I'll have a really nice multi-GPU gaming rig :) I didn't spend a dime I couldn't afford to lose.

There has been a reliable pattern on bitcoin of a slow increase, followed by a manic spike, followed by a crash down to about 50% of the peak. No reason to think this won't happen again.

I dont want Crypto to crash. I understand that you guys want your GPUs cheaper, but wishing that people lose money and lose it hard is just uncalled for. I think Bitcoin is correcting, as it went up 1000% percent since January of 2017. I feel this was coming, and that it is still only the beginning of Crypto.

Great video, very well explained. I just hope to get my hands on a 1080TI at some point. I'm not into mining and have no plans of starting any time in the foreseeable future, but I do hope that prices for GPUs come down to a point where I'm not forced to sell an organ or a body part just to buy one. At current prices, though, if I were very desperate, I'd probably go out and sell a kidney just to get my hands on a GPU. :-)

Don't think we'll see GPU prices drop. They might normalize but they won't drop. We've seen this before with how the prices were manipulated world wide.
Plus, chances are, this is just a chances for other savvy investors to jump in on the opportunity to buy crypto low and anticipate a rise in prices.
On top of everything I said, I think this is a correction, not a crash. Then again, I know nothing. Like you said, for all we know, this could be prelude to 50K per coin.

purchased a 1080 at best buy, but when i checked the status of the order its says out of stock. Wasnt a ti but at $589 i'll just wait till they do get in stock.
It'll take a while, and when it does come back to normal, the cryptocurrency will spike up back again after like 2 weeks of GPU prices being normal. I hate this, even *used* GTX 780 Ti's are overpriced and $500, even though they can't mine well everyone is being annoyingly stupid thinking that their GPU is worth more because all the other cards are crazy. I really hate this, companies need to do SOMETHING to prevent this.
BTW I'm still holding my GTX 970 and hopefully it can still stand up for the next couple of years after this whole thing will completely die down.

GPU's are already x2 as much as you would pay in america(GTX 1060 is 260-280$ in USA at MSRP but here it is 500$) and the crypto mining gives it a price of 650-700$.....

im doing pretty well mining. my two 1080 ti get me about 200-300$ a month and i don't pay for electricity and already paid off my rig so im just making money now. even if prices go down in cryprto i still will be making a little money due to no electricity cost

So I knew GPU prices were inflated asf but are they really this bad? I picked up a 1070ti (Asus strix edition) for 450 and you’re telling me 1080ti’s sell for upwards of 1k? Or did they go up even more recently?
