Google is screwed up, Microsoft is screwed up, apple is screwed up, and Meta is screwed up. Meta is the only company we can really screw back here. Either you’re helping google, Microsoft, and apple, or you’re living your life without a modern phone (Linux phones exist I guess, but that’s a mess in and of itself unless you use android apps, oh wait.), 90% of the internet, and a computer (you can use Linux, but that’s a can of worms on its own for the people who aren’t nerds like me, unless the main thing you use the computer for is web browsing which lo and behold, you can’t do that anymore)

Both google, Microsoft, Meta, and Apple are crap. You can only really attempt to get back at meta. Trying the other companies locks you out of a modern phone (Linux phones exist but there are barely any apps for them afaik), a ton of the internet, and Computers (unless you want to deal with Linux, which I wouldn’t recommend for people who aren’t nerds like me). Also, good luck finding work that doesn’t use any of those things.

Oh don't worry. The newly coming UE regulations will force all browsers to use government-issued SSL certificates, these certs are generated using a root cert.
Meaning the people having access to the root cert (the government) could decrypt all traffic encrypted with one. It's eIDAS 52 or something.

The fact that there is any model where having your data collected is not optional is disgusting. Literally paying for them not to sell your private information and openly admitting to doing so unless you cough up. The textbook definition of extortion.
How about this - zero data collection, under any circumstances, or your banned from the market.

The fact that they’re willing to allow any data scraping period, let alone having a paid service to get rid of it, is WILD
That’s literally blackmail on a corporate level.
