It was just before the World Domination CD was released and this video was the start of my Band-Maid journey . I heard Dice, which compelled me to buy the CD. I was lucky the DVD with it had this show. I then bought the CD with the blu ray. Then the CD with Honey on it. Then I went nuts and bought the early CDs, then T-.shirts, then every new release. It didn't stop there. I had to go to group therapy and when I stood up and said I was a Maidiac, they kicked me out and told me this is a natural response to Band-Maid. Who knew?

In this version of Take Me Higher, if you pay close attention, you can hear what they're saying in this rare translated "conversation" during their solos:

Kanami rips a long solo while mouthing, "Love you MISA-san."

They look toward Saiki to start her slow breakdown. Miku pretends to tune while shaking her head. Akane cracks up so hard she can barely play. Just Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things!

This is the best translation ever.
Both Zepp and Studio coast have this level of mix. You can clearly hear the individual guitars in separate channels. The sound guys outdid themselves on these two concerts.
In all honesty, both of the Studio Coast and Zepp shows were scrubbed up for best-foot-forward promotional release. The Studio Coast show was a bonus blu ray when you bought the limited edition of the "World Domination" album. The Zepp show was a DVD included in the limited edition of the "Start Over" single release. Live mixes are NEVER this good (Kanami is never, ever loud enough, for one thing) in the wild.
@@crabuki1273 Yes, I'm pretty much sure that almost everyone is aware of that. And that's pretty much standard for any big "live" release from any band. And yet the final product is what we refer to. And they should continue to do this.

Misa is not even using a pick. Thats what i love how versatile she is. Serving the song and matching how to play it.
This is in my top 3 of theirs live, with Don't You Tell Me and Turn Me On (back to back no less) from Zepp Tokyo.
I don't think he has reviewed Turn Me On.... another song he will kick himself in the butt over.
They've put out a new "official" vid of a recent performance of "Play" that's totally off the charts. You can really see how they've all improved over the years, especially Miku. The li'l pigeon's all growed up :D

And I know you are mostly about the instrumentation, but Saiki is really killing it. She is sitting right on top of every note, nothing flat or sharp.
Still being blown away by this band... even 80-90 songs deep into the catalog.
Yeah man, that MISA/Kanami back and forth was awesome, and then MISA walks Saiki back in at the end of Kanami's mini solo. I LOVE BandMaid!
Also love.. that final solo after the Misa/Kanami duel.. so VERY Kirk Hammett in the use of the Wah.
All the way through the reaction you spoke about everyone but Miku, and she was there keeping the song together with a beautiful distortion on her guitar, but not a word about the Pigeon.

I have to say Saiki is soooo good in this gig and song. You can clearly see she loves singing it. She really gives it her all. Love it!

Then when it leads into Play right after is just fantastic.

At this concert of Band Maid (Shinkiba 2017 STUDIO COAST) MISA, and this also applies to the phenomenal and in my opinion the best live version of "Play", she played so aggressively when slapping that if she had stuck to that style, she would probably torn herself fingers off in the next year or two. That's why she never played like that again ever. But it sounded like a storm or heavy artillery canon, and it was amazing.
Zepp Tokyo 2018's version of PLAY was my intro to Band Maid. If you haven't heard that version, highly recommend hunting it down. The mix CRUSHES the one from the official Shibuya version (though Shibuya has a better intro, IMO). And pretty much any of the lives make the album version seem pretty limp in comparison.

I can't believe you are just now witnessing this masterpiece after all the time you've been reacting to these ladies.
I think the fact that the main riff is similar to a Nickelback song takes some people out of it. I don't get it, but I've certainly heard that before. This is one of my favorite BAND-MAID songs, and I've used it several times as an onboarding tune for older friends.
That's probably my favorite opening of a Nickelback song, so it doesn't really hurt. Though, I can't ever unhear the opening of Animals when I listen to this.
So there i was, having a beer with Chad & i said "Have you heard B-M's intro to Take me Higher"? Chad replied "I have. I'ts how Animals intro should've been" & a single tear rolled down his cheek....🤔Tho come to think of it that tear might have been for Avril.🤷♂️
What I really love too on the solo is the first 4 bars. Kanami with the riff for the first 2 bars, then Miku and her Z take over for the next 2. So choice! 11:26

Glad you finally got to check this video/song out - one of my early favorites. Looking back to 1/2 their career ago, isn't it amazing how tight, creative, and above and beyond the call of duty they already were? I think it's fair to say that Misa-Kanami call-and-response single-handedly gained them a lot of fans.
Dude, somehow I missed it too. And I think I've listened to this whole concert through. This was great. I think a lot of their songs come be even better if they turned the lead up in the mix.

Turn Me On starts off with an AWESOME Misa/Akane duet with a middle consisting of a KILLER back and forth between Misa and Kanami capped off with one of Mincho's longest/best solos!! Stop depriving yourself of it's INCREDIBLENESS!! 🤘🤩🤘

First time I hear this song I thought it was AC/DC. I could imagine Angus playing the opening riff. Kanami can do anything.

This a great live version and the Misa vs Kanami duel is amazing. Miku shows how solid her guitar playing has become. If you have access to all songs from this show, the rendition of “Play” is actually their best live version, in my opinion. CZcams has pulled most songs from this performance, but I used to listen to these songs all the time.
Wait! All this time and you haven't got to this song yet. Shame! LOL. Once you get through their catalogue, watch this entire concert from beginning to end. Multiple times. 810 times if necessary. The Zepp show is my favorite...so far. My ultimate fav will be the Nov show in Chicago. And Miku is such a rockstar with that crunchy sound. Pure, old school Band-Maid heavy hard rock.

This is sure one of the songs that turned me to a Band-Maidiac :)... love it!
Listen to the studio version. The sound balance there is just messed up. That second verse base is way too hot in it. It's not unusual for their live versions to exceed the studio counterparts, but this song is a glaring example of that.
was just listening in the car, and spot on, it's to the point of distraction. Sadly, Band Maid and Studio Mix.. is a mixed bag, and why I wish they would get in touch with Lovebites (I know Akane and Haruna are at least familiar with each other), as much as I love Band Maid, especially live, their Studio stuff desperately needs sound mixing on par with Kanami's writing and their overall talent. Another thing I wish they'd take a Lovebites lesson from.. releasing more Live Shows as Audio Albums. I love watching it, but hate having to rip stuff so I can listen while driving, walking, etc.

This is just a good solid rocker! Maybe a little old school, but feckin' solid! It's one of my favorites of theirs. Top 15 for sure. They played this at Echoplex at my first Okyu-ji in 2019. Band Maid banger! I'd love to see them play this and Flying High back to back. Those 2 great songs don't get enough love! Great reaction, Champ!

MISA!!!! MISA!!!! MISA!!!!!!! React to the Live versions of Play, Onset, Take me Higher, Don't you tell Me, Moratorium, Puzzle, Real Existence and Dice if you can find them. MV Real Existence and Trill if you want to check out their skills in 2016. So at least 1 person gave you a heads up on "Take Me Higher" :)
This is from Shinkiba Studio Coast November 2017. Also I believe when I first found you some of us wanted you to listen to the song they perfectly flow into after this which is Play. Play has a different intro from the one you reacted to. I think someone did send it to you lol.
Also yes the Studio Coast has a great mix from the source. All instruments are clearly defined. The Zepp show is well balanced as well but not as punchy with the rhythm and bass. Thanks Champ.

The mix on this concert is killer, much better than the Shibuya mix. Wish I could get my hands on this DVD......sigh! I'm shocked too you didn't know about this tune, I had to do a double take on the date of your video....Lol! Those other bearded guys got you all messed up....
This was one of the first 4-5 songs that completely hooked me on Band-Maid. It's got a big Rolling Stones/GNR vibe but better. Re. the sound quality, many of the youtube clips are too compressed for the quality of mix used by Band-maid and the other Japanese bands.
Some bands music starts to all sound the same. Band Maid, its' like a box of chocolates--You never know what you are going to get, but its always awesomely good!
The studio version that doesn't have the "bridge" you're talking about is still very good.
However it's THIS ONE that everyone wants. So get yourself the live DVD when you're ready!
A comment I read years ago stated that Nickelback was big about the time this came out and was Band-Maid's take on Nickelback's song Animals. That is why the intro sounds similar. The intro for Alone sounds similar to the intro of the song Scotty doesn't know by Lustra.

This is the song I recommend to my classic rock friends to get them into Band-Maid.
This is the kind of stuff that put them where they are.
I miss that they left this kind of thing behind. Most of their stuff now sounds like they are trying to do too much and ends up being a mess in comparison(no god, and sense come to mind, not that I don't like those, I prefer this classic Band-Maid, however).
Want more of this, try Turn Me On from the same set.
Miku's guitar was super crunchy in this track.
