    I love this! I've always wanted to learn and I've not found an instructor who's going ahead and show detail and explained it as you have. For examplefor example you had the blob of paint at the bottom of that first leaf and instead of worrying about the blob drying I see exactly how it just incorporated into the picture you were trying to create. I can't wait to watch more of your videos I love the way your voice is very calm and beautiful and your technique looks amazing thank you for being online God bless you. Tara in Oklahoma

    I love watercolours so much. I have always loved to draw and doodle but felt myself getting anxious and frustrated (I know it's dumb) because I felt limited. With watercolours it feels so freeing if that makes sense. Anyway! Great video. Thanks for the tips. :)

    so I want to do an aspen grove composition using a lot of small yellow leaves. How can I do that so that its somewhat defined and not blotchy?

    • @caitlinsheffer3987
      @caitlinsheffer3987  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Candis! That is a great question! Two things came to my mind - the first is that you could layer them - so paint some of the leaves (not fully opaque, you want them somewhat transparent) and let them dry. Then layer a new level of leaves on top, let it dry, and repeat. Do as many times as you'd like! This is an excellent exercise in layering which can be tricky to master. You can also paint it all in one layer and go in with a drawing pen or pencil and add detail that way. I like to do that sometimes! :) Best of luck!

    confused! your very first stroke leaves no dark spot where the stem ends and the leaf begins when you begin pushing down on the brush. I can't seem to do that. Also! the second stroke begins slightly over the first stroke and leaves a nice darker spot there. It's as if your first stroke has already dried. How in the world is that happening?

    • @caitlinsheffer3987
      @caitlinsheffer3987  Před 3 lety

      This might have to do with your paper, or how much water you have on your brush! Puddling usually occurs when there's an excess of water OR if the paper isn't absorbing the water (happens with hot pressed paper).

      Hi Liam! I use the Princeton Heritage series. You can find one here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0008DWXRW/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=emeraldivy-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B0008DWXRW&linkId=6b160c2d07f756d84923583d77a7973a
      My most used sizes are 0, 6, 10, 12. Hope that helps!
