    Thanks a lot for sharing this out. We are looking into your school. What you said was different than the other videos that I watched. Good that you mentioned that there is a lot of walking and wearing the right shoes. Really important. This is really helpful and thanks for doing it!

    Ik there are hardly any black students at cal poly to begin with is it even worse in the engineering program specifically? I got in for MechE yesterday.

      Yeahhh, i can only think of one other civil engineer who is in class of 2022 for me, but i have been in the same class as him before I just know him from the side. I can’t speak for mechanical engineering but I would assume it’ll be the same. I can’t think of a time where I had a black person in any of my civil engineering classes. This isn’t to discourage you though, I just want to be fully transparent. Of course you’re going to be the only one who knows what’s best for you.

    Hi, I was wondering what's your major? It sounded like you were doing something in stem. I'm thinking of applying to Cal Poly as a physics major, and am wondering what the class environments and teachers are like for the stem classes.

      i’m majoring in civil engineering! and in my experience, the professor really want the best for you so they encourage going to office hours or scheduling them to fit in you’re schedule. Also a lot of the time, classmates make study groups for homework and midterms etc. It’s definitely really challenging so it’s important to take advantage of your recourses!

      Wow, those sound like good teachers. Thank you for making the video and replying; I will definitely make use of office hours and study groups!!

    What has your experience as a African America in Cal Poly? I’m interested in Cal Poly but I don’t like the luck of diversity( I’m black too)!

    • @KailaDanielleOnline
      @KailaDanielleOnline  Před 4 lety +11

      Hey! There definitely is a lack in diversity, but there are still communities for African Americans like Baec (black academic excellence center) and BSU and some major specific black clubs too. I think it’s important to get involved in those communities and that way you can meet more people. Also there’s other communities such as the Multicultural Community which has all kinds of diversity and minorities!

      @Jon In SLO your question itself is what a racist would say to gaslight. Why don’t you ask “What can I do to end racism? What role can I take so it no longer exists?” Rather than being part of the problem, be a part of the solution.

    • @richellesays1829

      @Jon In SLO name calling, speaks volumes of who you truly are and I called it. Lmao! Good luck to you.

      @Jon In SLO I don’t know why you feel the need to bully people of color and women. Btw, I celebrate my European heritage proudly, but I don’t bully others to think that their experiences and exposure to racism don’t matter. I still acknowledge that they have different experiences then me. Please get over yourself and appreciate others differences and experiences rather than bullying and disrespecting.

    Growing up SLO side I took diversity for granted. Any one Asian group outnumbers black people, in the town & County. I commented a lot on the other post of yours. I moved to Los Osos aged four, and left after I grad MCP. I have a feeling "Poly has always been like that". I never understood a/c, sometimes I get cold out here in Waianae. Van's have no arch support. Neither do deck shoes, I felt odd as an H.S. student buying Dr. Scholls in the 1980s. My music tastes were warped forever when I inherited 4 or5 wine boxes of 78s, 1905-50. Swing, Hawaiian, Latin (Argentine) Light opera, classical. It's all good.

      My first year there was a good amount of stuff to do as a freshman, as 2nd and 3rd... covid kinda halted everything 😭. Hopefully senior year will be fun! It’s cool that you were on the football team!
