I hope people realize this is VERY unrealistic to use this unit in this condition. I was just testing it's limits and seeing what could be possible. Honestly I was impressed I could get the inside of the tent to 90 degrees! I plan on doing a full review of the Zero Breeze Mark II soon. I also took it to Colorado when I went to a tiny house festival so when that video comes out I'll talk more about it. For more vlogs and tours please click the links below for my playlists:

Two things to think about when setting this up. The two tubes are supposed to serve the condenser which is the outside unit in a conventional AC system. The hotter the air is that enters the tube, the less cooling effect and efficiency the system will have. Separate those two tubes at their tips. If you can, take your intake air tube and have it under the tent in the shade and the exhaust blowing away from that area. Use the tube given to you for the cooling side of the unit so that your outlet with cold air is a short distance away from the return air inlet. I will be happy to talk you through how that can look if both measures do not improve performance

Thanks for this video. I purchased one 5 months ago for a camper van. I live in Miami which is humid. I initially purchased this to keep my dog cool. It is a personal cooler and not meant to cool a big area like you said. I'm happy with it. It's pricey but the portability and convenience of it is exactly what I wanted. I made a mod with a 4.7 inch fan that I put in front of the unit with the tube attachment to help circulate more air. So far i'm happy with it.

If you were to rig up an awning that goes over the tent, that would put the tent in the shade, effectively cooling the interior a little bit, without doing anything else. Leave an air gap.
Putting a wet towel or two on your tent under said awning *might* cool it down some more due to the evaporative effect. Sounds like an idea for another video.
I ride, I usually have a textile motorcycle jacket on, full face (modular helmet), gloves, boots, and jeans on. I always wear a compression shirt under my shirt/ t shit. On extremely hot days I wet my T shirt, close all the vents on the jacket. The T shirt keeps me cool against my ompression shirt, as it evaoprates and dries. The jacket keeps the t shirt from drying out too quickly.

  • @Vampyredh
    @Vampyredh Před 3 lety +6

Well that was 14 minutes I will never get back. First nothing you did set a standard for actually measuring the changes. Three different temp readings from three different devices, a tent flap left open versus porting the intake through a window screen and sealing the extra airflow out. Cold air sinks hot air rises, so leaving the flap open at the bottom essentially let all the cold air out of the entryway. If you want to test a product for people to know the functionality it might behoove you to understand the basic principles of thermodynamics.

I think maybe if someone has a maxx air fan and they turned that on while that’s running it might circulate a little better. Or maybe they can section off part of their van where they’re sleeping and run it without having to cool off the entire van. I would buy that.

  • @darksoul578

I know this will sound crazy but, what if you made a reflectic blanket to go over the top of your tent (cut-outs if you have solar on it) that expand past the sides with the windows to help insulate and reflect the heat. Use tent poles and tie downs to secure it as well and use fans to help circulate the air. Just a thought. My imagination was going crazy trying to figure a way to help cool you down. In a van, to cool the bed area, hang a black-out curtains from ceiling to floor on both sides of the bed making them snug against both the ceiling and bed, turn on the machine and use fans to circulate the air.

Not a fan of these units, This is an extreme test . Even a small window air conditioner would be working overtime in that environment . any type of insulation would definitely make a big difference . The only thing the tent is providing is shade and containing a small amount of the cooled air. I think given the low humidity in the desert,a swamp cooler would be more effective . Not a fair shake to Zero Breeze Bud.

The ZeroBreeze is only 2,400 BTU and it is crazy to think that the Mark 2 can handle that kind of heat. No. Way. It cannot do what you are trying to do in that kind of heat. It is unrealistic to expect this small AC to handle those temps like a standard AC.
You are trying to cool down something not insulated. My recently converted DIY 2018 Ford Transit was very fully insulated by me and it is a world of difference from what you tried to do. The ZeroBreeze cannot compete with a car AC or a typical 5,000 BTU home AC.
We use it to cool down our van at night only to be more comfortable and it is wonderful.
I ran a fair test last week and it proves the ZeroBreeze works well in the right situation.

Good review. I've been thinking about getting one of these for my tiny camper. One thing though. AC works by removing the heat from the tent. You have both the exhaust and intake tubes outside the tent. Your intake tube should be in the tent. It sucks the warm air in, removes the heat then blows it back into the room. The heat is exhausted outside through the exhaust tube. You should have a separate condenser tube that removes the water. That tube will also be outside the tent. The way you are setup now is you are taking in hot air from outside, removing the heat then blowing it into the tent.

Your body was not warming up the tent enough to measure. Remember that cool air is more dense. Having those hoses through an open FLOOR FLAP is a weak part of your test. Unzip a window and put the hoses through there. Don’t let the cool air fall out.

Respectfully, you made this test in an area the middle of the summer which very few people will attempt to tent camp. I'm not sure we learned anything useful from the video. There is a reason people try to avoid tent camping when the temperature is 120 degrees. While opening the windows will get a breeze blowing, you are still outside under an awning trying to stay safe when it is 120 degrees outside! When I was in middle school we would get two grades. One for the idea and the next for the execution. You get an A for the idea but something less for the execution.

Actually disagree, respectfully. I'm pretty keen to see how his experiment played out from over here in Australia, we do actually camp in the middle of summer in those temperatures, summer camping is pretty common/the norm here.

You’re using it incorrectly, it won’t cool down your tent, however it will cool you down personally if you installed the front hose hitting your face. 🤙🏼

pulling hot air from outside will cause this setup to stay warm. If you left the inlet tube on the inside of the tent the unit would just recycle cold air instead of having to first cool down hot air. Also camping in desert will be hot, period. nice review thanks.

Wouldn't that just be recirculating the air from inside? I did that sorta when I was in Colorado, but that was due to laziness. Seem to work a little more

Yes, it will take the already cooled down air from the inside and cooling it more.
In the video the unit sucks in 120F air and cools it. That's a waste of energy.
The hot air outlet obviously needs to go outside.
