I made a DIY IcyBreeze from an old yeti. My output is 41F and works for 3 to 4 hours depending on outside temp.
I use mine in my 2 seat airplane, I freeze water in tupperware at my hangar fridge. If it's 100-105 degrees outside (I live and fly out of central AZ) it will drop the temp to 78-80 deg. Makes an absolute miserable day a flyable one, I'm glad I bought it for sure. I carefully fill it as full as possible with small blocks. I flew four hours yesterday in 99 degree weather used it for probably 30-40 minutes while taxing, and another 30 to 40 minutes while climbing to cooler temps or descending to land. Call it an hour and a half to hour 45 of run time. I still had well over half my blocks remaining. It's not a perfect solution as it is heavy when loaded but it is completely worth it. I would buy it again for my purposes.
We bought this last summer for van camping and we used it at night to help us be cool at night. I didn't have block ice so it lasted most of the night. I now have square (former milk jugs) containers that I'll be freezing and using. We are glad we bought it.
How has it been working for your van? Are you in a humid area
@@josephoverstreet5584 haven't used it yet this year. We had camped In a state park in Maryland.
And humidity varies in Maryland so I'm told. I'm thinking it's probably not like other states that are known for its humidity. It's not a swamp cooler so does not put out moist air if that's your concern.
Love my icy breeze. Saves me so much money on electricity. I like to sleep in ice cold conditions. I don’t need to cool an entire room when I’m sleeping, I just use the hose extension under my blanket
Seems like simply having four jugs, that you use, fill, and cycle out of an available freezer is a "solid" replacement for buying ongoing bags of ice. I've got a 12x15 office upstairs in a place and it feels like AC is going to be the ultimate X-factor in the facility for me. This looks to be the PERFECT fix. It won't cool a 15x10 room. You have to have this thing blowing on you directly. You should just invest in a portable AC unit or a in window AC unit for your office.
@@bobczz3919 i think that is what people are missing. it is not a true Air Conditioning unit to cool a room, but more of a fan that blows super cooled air directly on the person(s). i was considering one of these for a bedroom, but after reviews decided on a portable AC unit from Costco (DeLonghi pinguino) which does the job perfectly. the icy breeze would be better suited for hang'n out at the park or beach with the cool air blowing directly in your face or body to cool off. i think perfect for tent camping on those hot summer nights as well.

I'm a trucker and am nervously considering this....instead of constantly paying for hotels.
I own the original with the nickel metal hydride battery pack built in. The battery works fine, in fact it far outlasts the ice. I've tried everything including block ice, mixing cubes with a block and damn near everything in-between, but the largest problem is by far the ice melting so fast. I now refer to it as the world's fastest ice melter and I live in Colorado, not really a hot place annually. Would I buy again at $500, hell no..would I buy it at half the price? Nope, sorry. The reason why I purchased was because I have an Aussie shepherd that goes pretty much everywhere I go. I thought it would come in handy for those times when I needed to leave him in the car for 20 to 30 minutes, but ice melted soooo fast. I now leave him at home or make other arrangements as this is not reliable. It was specifically marketed for this purpose, but warm air convection on ice doesn't mix well. Novel idea, but physics prevails.
On a side note, icy breeze has been a great company to work with and I wholeheartedly hoped they would be a huge success, but real life use with this product has been a huge disappointment.

Damn, I just got one for this exact purpose. I can't leave my dog at home alone because she's a Belgian Malinois who can jump over the fences in my yard. I also can't take her to doggy daycare because she doesn't get along with other dogs. I'm in LA too. I hope I have a different experience with the newer model 🤞

The best ice is freeze it in 5 gal buckets.Turn upside down on plywood.Spray with water hose.It will make bucket selfrise off ice.Use icepic to size wanted.
Buying a portable ice maker and recycling the water to make more ice. Keep you machine freshly supplied with ice. Also a solar generator can keep you ice machine running and charging you batteries all the way thru your adventure.
Even better, they make a cable to plug into the cooler that plugs into a car cigarette lighter so as long as your solar generator has a cigarette outlet then you can just run it off the big battery.
I got mine two weeks ago to use for my aliner I put it to use and it definitely kept the camper to good comfort level. Better test when I go out in July here on the east coast

I'd put yeti ice , ozark trail ice blocks or large cooler shock ice packs. Those are colder than frozen ice cubes and freeze cold water around it. Would love to see a test using what I mentioned
I just put 4lbs of ice in 5 gal bucket + water + 6 pack ! Then in put my Foot in bucket ! Works for me !
Used ours in the van to keep the dogs cool on our way home from vacation when we stopped for lunch. Then, again for VC to run into Wal-Mart while the dogs and I stayed in the van. We were perfectly comfortable.

Thanks for the info and test. I have a 16 ft RV and I boondock almost 100%. I'd first thought about lugging around a generator for the air but rethinking that IcyBreeze may be good enough.

Question I live in Florida, weather 90 that feels like 100f , you think this will help in a van life type scenario maybe getting shade from trees or high building and maybe starting by cooling the car with AC first , so this thing do the rest isy main goal and comfortable sleeping nights...
I have been searching for something like this for a while. I travel with my cat a lot and I need something to keep her cool in my car when I stop to get something to eat/shop. I think this is a viable solution. So thanks for posting this.
Bought mine for the near identical reason except to keep a dog cool not a cat.

@@Mr-E. I would say as a supplement to the vehicle A/C and blowing directly on your dog, it would made a difference. For keeping a dog or cat cool while stopped, it simply cannot keep up. A car parked in 70 degree weather can quickly reach 110 degrees inside, so the icy breeze might bring it down to 105 ish, but still too hot, that's an explanation of my original reply. Also you will be buying a lot of ice. I've melted block ice mixed with cubes in as little as a couple hours when it's 80 degrees ambient.
I'm curious why your vehicle can't keep up with your cooling needs if you aren't stopped? Even my old 97 bmw can cool the temperature down 30ish degrees or so... Cheers

Ive got one of these and i can say it does help in Florida 100 degree weather. I use it in my 07 megacab as a supplement to the truck ac, which the truck ac struggles by itself. I get as much ice as i want for free from the big ice maker from work. I run mine off of the 12 volt dc adapter in the truck hooked up to an on and off button. Also, It can run off of 20 volt dewalt batteries that i already had for my drills, been doin this for several years since I bought it. Would I buy this again, yes. It works really good for my needs.
Wanna buy it for my work truck in Florida but I have to buy ice , and I wasn't sure if it would take the DeWalt batterys lol so that awesome to hear
Watching the video on IceBreeze, it states running anything higher than a 12v ruins the unit? How are you running a 20v onto this unit (using a converter?) and how is it holding? I'm looking into purchasing one, and have tons of Ryobi batteries laying around.
@@JohnnyQuest007 12 volt dc plug in from car/truck, 120 volt ac plug wire, or you can use the battery. The website does not tell what battery voltage it is, however its basically a dewalt 20 volt battery. Any of those three will power it.

You'd think the Icy Breeze would come with custom fit Re Freezable Gel fill cartridges , Hurricane season is here , I can't sleep with out a Fan and or AC .
Bought one to use in my work truck that has no A/C thought if it could cool a small RV it could cool a 4ft x3 ft x 4 ft space. NOPE, won’t do it.
No. It’s not going to cool an RV but it helps keep us cool and our dogs love having the cold air in them when we’re boondocking.

He's made 4 different models when it comes to this kind of cooler type AC. I'm also in Florida. I'm looking to cool down a small west facing room during the summer. I'll use it along with the AC unit.
@Tommy Lanes only if you are trying to lower ambient temp about 10 degrees maybe. In the sun the heat created would far exceed the cooling ability imo.
The problem with this product is the fast melting of the ice! And the cost of having to keep buying bag after bag. It’s better just to stick with a regular air conditioning unit or a window air conditioner. These new inventions they try and come up with just aren’t working! And they are getting rich off everyone.
I like it. Wanted to buy one & impress all my friends. Wouldn't have much use for it after that. Batteries $70.00. Need two for all nighter.
You can use Dewalt batteries as well. I use a dewalt 60 volt battery on mine and it last almost 5 hours on that one 60 volt battery.
The odd part gets me with some of the portable "a/c" units is, if I could "make ice", prolly don't Need your product. Recently I have seen a few real portable a/c units that are solar powered. 😁👍

Great video Patrick! We saw your original video on the icybreeze and bought the tan Platinum model with the black lid, 10 Amp battery and 12 volt supply. We plug our 12 volt into our Bluetti AC200P for power and use frozen bottles of water. We have used the battery, but found the 12 volt Bluetti source to last the longest. We use it as a supplement to reduce our overall ac use. Thanks for the initial video as well as the informative follow up! We love our icybreeze!

@@Ranglin1975 A van is a convection oven in warm/hot weather. Air conditioners won't even cool a van interior that you'll notice. Vans, especially Cargo vans have no insulation in the cargo area. And they are cold in wintertime except for the small driver/passenger compartment.
@@azclaimjumper I have a built out van with insulation, thinsulate and 1inch foam floor walls also reflectix on top of thinsulate.
@@Ranglin1975 You're van has the same 1" thick insulation I had in my 1992 Ford E250. It kept the interior comfortably warm in cold weather when my heater kept coming on & off all night, however, there was no way I could keep it cool in hot weather. Or I should say, I never tried anything that would have kept it cool in hot weather.
The following may be off-topic -- I bought an Engel 45qt freezer that sipped amperage when being powered by 12 volts. I had a fused power cord directly from the van's battery to the Freezer. It kept things frozen, no problem, even on the hottest of days/nights. The next morning I fired up my Honda EU2200i generator to fully recharge the battery. The alternator was sufficient for keeping my battery charged when driving & powering my Freezer.
B4 starting off on a multi day/night trip, I'd stock my freezer with my own meals portioned out into 8oz portions, then put in 1qt freezer ziplock baggies & frozen. During my trip I merely had to boil water, pull a meal out of the freezer & shortly I had a delicious home cooked & nutritious hot meal.
When traveling I had no need for restaurants or lodgings. My only expense was the gas I bought during a trip.
If it is placed higher in room, it would cover more area since cold air drops?

I watched several videos on the IcyBeeze Cooler and I think it works and is a great product. And I also think that Delaney did a wonderful job producing this video so my intent is not to be critical. But, am I missing something here? I'm a retired EE, not a physicist, but I don't see how the IcyBreeze air temperature could ever get to or below 32deg F. Yet at 3:58 in the video the reading is 28.7deg F and later at 5:26 the reading is 27.6deg F. I think the infrared thermometer is either out of calibration or I don't understand how they work. Maybe my old brain is missing something. And the absolute temperature isn't the point of the video. Comparing battery life to when the ice melts is the point of the video and the infrared thermometer does provide a reasonable "relative" temperature comparison.
Water freezes at 32 degrees, but ice can be much colder than that once it becomes ice.
The melting and freezing point of water is 32°F but most ice cubes are about 16°F when u pull them out of the freezer. The ice/water mixture stays at about 32°F until all the ice melts then the temp begins to rise towards ambient temps

I dont understand what everyone is complaining about… Its not designed to chill a room but the air coming out of this thing is COLD! It is loud and im sure its going to run thru the ice i ised but i plan on using ice blocks… I love this thing so far!

Posting this very direct response, as this video was key in my decision to purchase an icy breeze - which I severely regret. I have to question the results that are shown in this video. We have a very small RV and the icy breeze was completely ineffective even on what should’ve been the ideal day - about 74° outside and overcast. At the end of our two hour test, the temperature has dropped 2° outside and was 1° warmer than when we started inside - and 3° warmer then outside air at the end of the test. (It was also now dusk outside). The icy breeze is basically a joke. We’re returning ours! I’m sorry, but the price point is way too high for what you get - $150 would be a stretch based on the performance but $450 is obscene. It burns through $20 worth of ice in about two hours on medium. We also bought the icy blocks which turned out to be a disaster. Even filling them up as instructed they would swell up on refreezing. This made it impossible to get three of them into the cooler. (the factory recommended amount). When using frozen blocks of ice in milk jugs, icy blocks, etc. it does not cool the air that’s being output as much as bag ice. Also, the manufacturer recommends that you cover the blocks of ice with water which creates a disaster. The lid leaks severely, in fact, one end of the lid appears to intentionally have a gap which I think is to draw in the air that it needs to then exhaust back out cool, and when you cover the blocks of ice with water, the water sloshes around and gets everywhere inside your vehicle or anywhere else. I think it’s interesting design but it’s way over marketed and they are not realistic about setting expectations.
Having made multiple attempts both in an RV and an SUV, and watching other negative reviews, I am baffled on how this creator was able to achieve the performance they did, it just does not seem credible, because in my view, it is not reproducible.
I am sorry that you did not have the same results as we did. I can tell you that I performed this test just as it appears on camera in our driveway. Nothing was staged or altered. I honestly did the test because I was curious and wanted to see what would happen. We have loved our Icy Breeze and it has gotten us through some very hot afternoons when we are camping without power. It provides us and our dogs with cool air flow.
This thing is meant to blow cold air directly onto you-not cool down an entire area. You misunderstood the purpose brother. It’s meant to cool you down in a RV or van, not to cool down the van or RV.

I have a standard cab short bed truck with a camper.. last trip i took my dog in the camper and he got hot... i was think of installing an rv ac ontop of my camper for my dog. But maybe this can cool down my short bed enough for my dog to be a bit more comfortable
Our dogs love ours. It provides them some cold air relief on hot days.
On high this thing melts ice in 30mins. Also depends on the ice and the water content.
The temperature of the rv would have been no different with a bag of ice laying there. What people fail to realize is that an a/c removes heat, and doesn't "ADD" cool. This will always raise humidity, because you aren't removing the heat. This just simply makes your face feel cool....
You are right…it does make your face feel cool as well as your arms and legs. It worked great for us last summer on the beach in Texas when it was 90+ degrees out. Ad with a Buc-ee’s just a couple of miles away where we could get their $.99 large bag of ice, it was a blessing for us and our dogs.
It's just a faster way to pull heat from the air into the water in the cooler. But that differential might be just what you need, especially if it's blowing directly on you.
You are actually not adding humidity because this does indeed have a heat exchanger. it's not just a fan blowing over ice.
The other dimension here is time. A bag of ice on the floor does not exchange the energy at a rate (or at location) that is useful. In a closed system, it is true you can only move heat(aka energy) around. This is not a closed system. You are ADDING ice to a water cooled heat exchanger(which condensates removing some of the humidity problem). So you are introducing stored potential energy with the ice. Horribly inefficient, but it does condition the air.
Will work within 3 feet until the ice melts. The hotter it is the faster the ice melts, the faster the thin blue is the faster the ice melts. Usually about 30 minutes will melt 50 pounds of ice. I made one of these with an ice chest that held about 50 pounds of ice in my company car that did not have air-conditioning when I was a meter reader about 30 years ago. I had an unlimited supply of ice available to me at work in the mornings. So I got a blower Out of a junkyard car windshield blower so it would run on the cigarette lighter 12 V power. I made a lid and let air in and out with the blower. I sold the ice chest up with about 50 pounds of ice. The ice was totally melted within 30 minutes. Don’t waste your time or your money
Great review, I wish I would have gotten the AC cord too. It seems to take forever to charge the battery from a 12 volt power pack. I think I’m going to get an electric ice maker to take camping, freeze some jugs and make some cubed ice. I’m thinking it will be great at the beach, can’t take heat anymore

@@adolfoarias i use it thru out the whole night plugged in the cigarette lighter and it doesn't drain the battery but will if it's set on high but although I do have a new battery..it works well at night but during the day doesn't do much unless your parked in shade and cover up your windows overall melts the ice really fast tho still looking for solution to that

I wish there was an adapter to not use their battery (which looks like to me a rebranded Makita battery) and use like a Dewalt or Milwaukee battery. Something that I already own.

What brand are ICY Breeze batteries really branded? Can you maybe see where they are from or get clues on the type at the terminal. It would be great to run an adapter to your home batteries from your tools.
I remember seeing adaptations for certain brand lithium to certain brand tools and vice versa on the internet.
I would be interested in doing the same test but with real blocks of ice like for fishing boats not in jugs.

I can buy 25 pound blocks of ice from an ice company near me.
The water in the block is not drinkable but used just go cool a cooler and it lasts much longer than ice cubes.

Well of coure extreme was going to drain the battery very quickly. Kind of a given that the ice jug would out live the battery. A better test would be on low power to test longevity of ice/battery and also room temp.
good content, id suggest not opening the lid so often. that induces heat when you open it. Leave it shut for the duration of the longevity test on the battery. Relax and have a cold one!! LOL

The problem with this machine is it's too loud. I don't want to hear it all day long in my trailer or in my tent. I definitely don't want to hear that. Buzz like that all day long

It’s a niche product that is excellent for certain uses. No way would I use this for camping or anything where I expected or needed 6+++ hours of AC where fast temp drop and high btu is really not the necessary. There are better and more efficient AC for this use. I just bought the platinum icy breeze specifically to use in my Piper Aztec airplane. In this setting rapid cooling for relatively shorter periods of time (generally during departure and arrival only - ~30 minutes each end of the flight). For this purpose it is perfect! I have a small chest freezer in my hangar and always have ice blocks ready to go at all times.

I’ve made my own with a much stronger inline 12volt fan and two radiators. This was in my 20x25 garage and it lowered the ambient temp 2 degrees and the reason these wouldn’t work is you need a lot of CFM going out in order to exchange the hot air for cold air. Just like in your car the AC feels cold but if you turn it off it gets hot very quickly because the heat sucks up all the cold air and there’s just too much hot air so you would need a really big heat exchanger to keep your room cold as that’s what refrigerant in an actual AC does is remove heat.

Great review but honestly I think it's too expensive (looks cheap/outdated) and too noisy. I wanted it for camping but who wants to refill ice every 2-3 hours. And for $350 it should come with platinum features (push button controls), other colors and at least one battery. I noticed in your video the metal protector (radiator) inside was rusted or appeared to be @11:05
I would love to see a camping review and how well this cools down a tent at night. But then again, its not going to make it through the night.
I believe you could stack half gallon jugs 8-10 and a gallon of cold water u would get great results
12v x 10ah = 120Wh. That is an extremely efficient fan if you're getting 2.5 hours!
I have maxxair fan mounted on Van door window... would be good to run icybreeze hose into fan hood so fan will blow cold air better
I would try two jugs in the icybreeze while I had two more jugs in the freezer along with another bag of ice waiting to be switched out
Keep the water, ice in containers. Don't empty bags or cut openings & the ice will stay frozen longer.

Im sure its for a very small room or just to blow onto you like a fan. I dont think it will cool a whole bedroom like a regular AC. But Im sure the electric bill will be much less.
What would be a real test, to see how much it raised the dew point and relative humidity. Cant imagine using that in the south where it is 95 degrees and 90% humidity

Hello, I think these are a great idea except that I’m learning that they could cause mold and mildew over time. I’m in Southern California and need to cool my music room.
I’m willing to install a wall air conditioner or portable AC if I need to, but curious if there’s something in between the ice chest and an AC that could work.
They won't cause mold and mildew because the air coming out is NOT moist swamp cooler air. The water is pumped through a heat exchanger and the air blowing out is dry and cold. If you get an alternate brand that just blows air over ice, then yes, mold will be an issue.
I have always wondered how those portable AC cooler units worked, but I would mostly want it for Boondocking, and ice becomes a problem. Maybe setting it up in the bedroom at night to sleep!
Need something like this for delivery drivers with no A/C in their trucks....those trucks get up to 130+ degrees inside them. I doubt anything like this would last longer than an hour before everythings melted and gone.
I got mine to try and cool my truck and I was really disappointed. It’s okay to use in a backyard party with a couple bags of ice and water bottles that’s all.

pretty informative but you should put that thing at a higher place an RV he rises cooler sinks so you cool off all the hot air on the top and I bet you you drop that thing a couple of degrees in temp if you did

@@skyrizestudios2918 because it melts ice soooooooooooooo fast. Other than that works as advertised. I've tried everything including freezing my own blocks, but on a hot day, a couple hours and it's just warm water.

My daughter works in a super hot warehouse. I was looking at ways to cool down her work station. If she plugs into the work power and supplies just water will it be better than zero ac?
They work on wood…..they cannot risk humidity so it’s dry hot sweltering heat.
Next time try using the hose part and point it straight up I feel like it will cool better 🙂

I have one of these. They're not meant to cool a room. They are meant to blow cold air on you. The room temperature doesn't really matter as long as you have it pointed at you. So don't think you're buying an air conditioner. This thing does the job it's advertised to do.

@@skyrizestudios2918 Technically an 'air conditioner' conditions the air, which means remove the humidity. Rather than blowing on the ice, it uses a heat exchanger(which is cooled by the ice) which condensates thus removing some humidity.

I think this video is great. Amazing idea on cutting away a square on the Milk Gallons so the water can have a place to go when it melts. I am going to use this in a Tent and see how the Dry Air works - and the thermal dispersion (placing 4 Five Gallon Buckets with Water as Thermal Batteries) while in a hot environment. The editing needs some work - but great content.

I have the same Icy Breeze cooler. I like it, but the ice melts so fast it’s just not practical to significantly cool anything long term.

Icy breeze support told me if you add some salt to the water, it makes the ice colder. You’d have to keep it sealed up though, just wonder if you tried it. Still mixed results but will eventually get it, seems the loose ice really helps the cooling ability? Thanks
