- Dan Salinger began chronicling his father’s journey with dementia when he moved in with him a year and a half ago. Since then, the duo's TikTok videos have gained international attention.
And then he says,, "Where is Mark?" Perfect timing, as always. I love this sweet, sweet man.
hehe it was cute
😅😅 I was wondering if that's what he said lol
Me too,
I didn't hear that
Right! That w a definitely a highlight
Your children will receprocate the same to you.God bless you .
Aw he asked "Where is Mark?" in the end.
He always asks about Mark...
Mark has done a lot for his Dad.
Mark and Dan are such good sons!
I hope their siblings appreciate them for what they do.
Grandpa seems to be a gentle soul. He is very lucky to be with his family who love him dearly.
Took care of my mom for 15 years with the help of my dad she had dementia also! You will never regret this decision you will have memories for your lifetime. It's not easy but it's very rewarding and to see them happy and taken care of is reward enough!
Dan, you're helping to protect Grandpa's dignity. Not everyone figures this out. You did.
That’s his dad
By exploiting his more vulnerable moments?
Danielle is great with Grandpa too. She and Dan are truly blessings to him.
Please keep your dad home as long as you can.
Putting him in a nursing home will be devastating for him and he will not last long.
I wouldn't trust the nursing home system...
Greatest respect for Dan& his brother! Champions both to care for their Dad in this kind & caring manner. Astonishing patience! Bravo!
And Danielle❣️
Let me tell you something about being a caretaker for those of you who have never had the honor of taking care of an elderly parent. I took care of my mom and my dad (by myself), for the last 5 years of their lives! Mom had dementia and dad just got weak trying to care for mom. Thus, I stepped in! I had the most wonderful, loving, and caring parents that raised 8 kids, me being the Second oldest! I can tell you that there were many days when my patience was tested. So the "patience" you see here is because it's on "tik tok"!! Dan isn't going to show the world when he loses his patience! He's only human like everybody else!! I'm even sure his wife had some testy days...but not on tik tok or whatever else he's on! And Dan only has his day for, what, 4 days, and then Ed is switched over to Mark for his days! So there's time between that to regroup himself! (I've wondered how confusing that is for Ed...but that's what has to be done, and I get it. So there's downtime for Dan and Mark. And they're blessed that Ed isn't in diapers, he can feed himself, use the bathroom on his own, he can talk, even tho his memory is not good. My heart goes to Ed, who must have many sad days that he's in this situation. But he's not like many patients where they get, maybe nasty and even combative! So with Ed, his situation is not a bad as I've seen over the years when I worked in Seniors Homes!! When I used to get people telling me what a good daughter I was to take such good care of my parents, it made me feel uncomfortable! Why??...because "who" am I to NOT help my parents?? My parents not only loved and cared for us,,,,but "WHO" am I if I turned my back on my parents in their time of "great need"!!
They made countless SACRAFICE'S throughout their lives in order for us to have the things we wanted and needed. Awe, the list goes on and on! Every adult child should take care of their parents when they need us most!! Expecting a; "PAT ON THE BACK" and all kinds of "PRAISE" for doing what we as son's and daughter's are "SUPPOSED" to do just really rubs me the wrong way! 😤
Smart loving family. Love watching Grandpa n Dan!
I love watching Dans wife

Nice to see social media helping spread kindness and awareness of Dementia. Until there's a cure, we need to do all we can to help these folks. Bless you Dan.
We are doing the same with my 95 year old Mom. God bless you all. ❤️✝️❤️🙏🏻❤️
Dan has a great voice.
I care for my 91-year-old mother with dementia I know how difficult it can be. May Jehovah bless you and your brother and family for caring for your dad at home.

Yes indeed, the Lord is gracious. He's not combative, wandering, he is very compliant, pleasant. He seems to sleep well. Thanks be to God.
You're doing wonderful, Dan
I can see he was a very good father even dealing with dementia he has never had a mean woro as a caregiver I have seen some very mean spirited ones. God bless his soul.
Grand papa is soooooo sweet and loving👏👏👏😘🙋♀️
Dan, your posts are helping so many people.
Thank you.❤
He is a sweetheart so that’s why I think that he deserves some anonymity over his dementia instead of documenting everything!

I can not believe how young your Dad look sitting next to you😢🎉❤
Dan calls him grandpa and I think that is so sweet ❤❤❤❤
My grandma had dementia but she became even more violent and angry... she was also that at times pre dementia.... so I love seeing your dad ❤❤

I Love watching. I keep Looking for new videos. Thanks for posting. ❤
That old guy brightens up my day every time i watch him.
I watch him from Scotland. He's such a caring and considerant human being who even in the twighlight of his life and despite his illness, shows great emotion and concern towards his family. Anyone would be proud to have him as a Father/Grandad and i for one am dreading the inevitable.
What an inspiration he is and we should all aspire to be like him.
What a beautiful human being.
Dan you guys are doing a fantastic job which is a testament of how responsible he was to his duties to you and your siblings...now its a pay back time. If he was a dead beat, you will not be this kind. May your own children do you like wise. You all are inspiration.
That’s what one of the 10 commandments says honor your mother and father. I pray he is saved born again got Jesus Christ in his heart ❤️ 😊

With you and the rest of your family looking after your dad, it makes his life so much easier
But where's his checkbook?
Very true and you the best family ❤️❤️❤️👏🏾💐
I think for me the hardest thing I had to come to terms with with my grandma who has dementia is when she was in the early stages I would sometimes look after her while my grandpa had errands to run and one time me and her were sitting together watching T.V. and she turned to me and smiled and said something I couldn't comprehend, smiled and laughed, and then she suddenly started hitting me hard a few times in the leg. And for me that really hurt. Not a physical hurt but an emotional hurt because my grandmother never, not once, ever raised a fist to me or any of her other grandkids at anytime growing up. She loved her grandkids dearly and to see her do that to me was one of the worst things ever for me. When I was a kid and she was angry about something she definitely let you knew though. Hahaha. But she was there on my wedding day back when she was cognitively normal and to see her like that was hard and it still is. She got to the point where she was no longer able to talk and she didn't even know who I, my wife, or who her great granddaughter was. Thankfully for her my grandpa, her husband, died when she was in the later stages of dementia in 2020 so she was spared the pain of losing him. I don't even think she knows he's gone.
Is she still with you?
@Jerseybailey19
@@AbbaJoy1 She is but every time I see her I know that the person I knew as a child, that I went to the lake with, that would serve her family Christmas dinner every Christmas, or who would babysit me as a child is gone. I know that sounds harsh but when we go to see her she doesn't even look me in the eyes. She doesn't know who we are. It's sad.

Such a wonderful family
U are doing a great job
Miss u were did u go .I really enjoyed ur case
Two wonderful sons.
It’s important to understand that not everybody has the option of taking care of their parents in their own home. Many people are working later in life and also in some patients dementia can create intense anger. That can be very very challenging for kids to handle. Last, due to role reversal, some parents(Mom) don’t take kindly to reminders of things that need to be done like brushing teeth, washing up/baths.
Thanks , Dan. Great job
Brilliant from all us that watch in England
Keep up the good work Danie and Mark may the Lord 🙏 bless you for taking care of your father and educating people all over the world about this condition.South Africa.❤❤
Happy Father's day both of you 💕💕💕❤️🎆
Loving Grandpa everyday from Iowa. God bless you Mark Dan and Danielle.❤
I want to hear what grandpa said at the end. I'm thinking he said, "You better not put me in the old people's home."
He said, 'Where is Mark?'
Awesome Dan! Super Fantastic Job Son
God is Pleased ❤😇
U r doing a great job credit goes to ur great wife she is taking much care. Nowadays people don't like elders at home 🏡 but u r a good example.
What will we do without our “Dad”😊
Your parents are your parents no matter what, you can't trade for anything or substitute. Having them around is not something to be taken for granted.moments we treasure 🎉
You Brothers are Great with your Dad, Have many more Great memories.
Great job Dan! Everytime I watch your videos, I remember my dad.
People with dimentia need change. That really brightens them up. I remember when my dad came to live with us, he was so cheerful for the first few days.
Your dad is a cheerful person and I find that so sweet.
God bless you for what you do to your parents.
'Honor your father and mother.' This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, things will go well for you....
Ephesians 6:1-3
You are both fantastic and so is grandpa, he is a star xx
😊 absolutely beautiful indeed keeping dad home is the best way always ❤️ 💖
Doing Gods work Dan and family. Dr. Ed is a beautiful soul 😊👍
Thank you for doing that
My mom, 88, died yesterday of dementia related illness. Sadly, my sisters placed her in memory care. Please please please think twice b4 placing an elderly person there. God bless u n ur family for doing right by ur parent! You’ll never regret it.
Dan you are doing a great job. Your dad looks so good. He is happy. He has plenty of space to be. And most importantly, he is safe. I hope you guys can keep him home until the end.
You brother's are full of love and gratitude for your Dad keep the kindness and compassion your whole family will have a long life honour your mother and your Father
When you are a team caring for aging parent it's so much easier than 1 caregiver. Caregivers need a break and it's good that the parent spends time with family members. I was lone ranger caring for mom and she was sad that grandkids did not come to visit or help. She was a handful but I miss her...she was 97 when she passed. Your father is blessed.
Keep it up, Dan, lovely wife & siblings. Only GOD shall reward u for the love & care rendered to yr Dad
Grandpa was about to ask what time you were meeting Mark for lunch that day, before the video ended..lol
You two sons are heroes

I understand your struggles and sweet moments. I care for my sister with dementia. Love to your family!
Well done.....I don't have anyone
Went through it. Your doing a great job
Happy to be able to make a comment. What I admire about your father is, although he has alzheimers, he seems to struggle everyday to remember or at least figure things out. I also admire that , although, not in a position, it is clear that the well being of his children is very important to him. I love how even in his state he will not choose one over the other when it comes to his children. This is an intelligent man and I hope his children reap all that is good for taking care of him.
God Bless him
You all are Great for keeping him with you💜🙌🏿🙏🏻
Your family are so special to care for your dad. Your family loves you so much
