The distance between ranchi and jamshedpur is near about 120 so according to rule there can not be full fledged airport . For small private planes there will be no problem .

Still i would say, there is huge shortage of educational institutes.... Idk why big giants in this field cannot see the potential of this beautiful city....

Dear Soumit, I enjoyed this blog (all your blogs I enjoy)...for the following reasons:
1) whatever city I have visited till now....I love the city, especially Telco;
2) since 1999, I am out of Bengal and staying at Hyderabad;
3) Last visited Jamshedpur about 28 years back with family, and stayed in a hotel at Kharengjhar Market, I have visited many places like Kharengjhar, Bistupur, Tisco, Telco since childhood but I love Telco.
4) That time Mr Bardhan was the in charge of the Airport and TISCO was flying B200 aircraft...many pilots were known to me that time.
5) Finally thanks to you and A1 airlines for starting this service...
Soumit, one thing I forgotton to tell you and that APD, of Kolkata is Mr Pattavi.
We know each other since 1993 or earlier and a very gentleman. If you meet again, convey my regards for him please.

Chota plane me possible nhi hai,it can only fly upto 600- 800 kms at a stretch.

You brought tears to my eyes with your words. I am happy to see this commercial flight getting started. Will definitely try it next time when I am headed home. Jamshedpur deserves way more than what it is getting. So many things are unique about this city. It is India's first planned city. Jamshedpur, unlike many big cities in India was immensely cosmopolitan in its character from the very start. It also managed to remain one of the cleanest cities of the nation in spite of being home to the oldest steel smelter in the entire Asian continent.
However, it pains me sometime when people (Indians) would generally not know where exactly Jamshedpur is on the map of India. After statehood, Ranchi received all the desired attention and special treatment as the capital city. All the development projects got focused on that one city. Jamshedpur, may be because of its geographical isolation from the rest of Jharkhand, remained at the tail end of priorities among the policy makers in the capital.
Hopefully, the Dhalbhumgarh Airport would be a reality in near future. And we would be able to fly to the Steel city in medium size carriers from all parts of the country and abroad. Only a little action from the people at the high table can make the lives of the people a bit easier.

It hit close to my heart when you said they are starting service there. It’s my hometown and I remember when Do 228 from Vayudoot used to fly there back in 1993. More such services (or if possible ATR services) are required between Kolkata and Jamshedpur, especially during morning and evening peak hours.
ATR is not permitted to land in Jamshedpur, until runway is more wide and terminal capacity is enhanced

Hello ji come to Dibrugarh assam and you can fly to places in arunachal like ziro ,tezu,pasighat, and in future metchuka n our aircraft i.e Dornier 228 India made . You can have a good experience and it's far better than cesna caravan .

Earlier 12 years ago Air Deccan 48 seater ATR-42 aircraft and MDLR airlines 70 seater avro rj 70 aircraft used to operate from this Sonari airport but suddenly DGCA imposed load restrictions in which upto 19 seater aircraft can land takeoff from here
Yeah, Runway should be more wide and lengthy for larger aircrafts. Lets hope that Jamshedpur gets upgraded in future

Aaj se pahle bhi kolkata ke liye flight chalane ki koshish kiya gaya but always fail ho gaya, agar really Jamshedpur se flight start karna ho to lambi duri like Delhi or Mumbai start karna chahiye, because kolkata ke liye pahle airport atleast one hour before to jana hi hoga the one hour journey and phir dumdum airport to Kolkata town ye sab leke minimum 3.5 hours journey isliye all people will prefer trains, but Mumbai ya Delhi 2hours mien pahunch jaye instead of 24hours then kon nahi jana chahega.
