In Ukraine they have rare earth metals and lithium needed for the green transition. Putin has gained almost all of them resources now.
If that was the reason, the sanction would have stopped the war.

Story is real, DNA is real
A bettle of stories? Stories start with facts on the ground, human needs at particular point and time. When a leader appears to fulfill those needs stories will be generated about him and events during that area.
However, to define wars only as an outcome of "stories" seems too superficial.

They don't fight for natural resources, they make you believe that they do it because all the countries are part of your imagination, they don't exist. They exist only in paper, there is no tangible measurement that can prove the existence of the concept of "country".
I.e. : Bringing "civilization" to those poor backward countries; coined by Kipling as " White Man's Burden" . - A staple. From the Aztecs to Afghanistan.
Russia is not fighting for land, yes, but they're not really fighting for a "story in their mind". They have very clearly been fighting due to concerns about NATO expanding towards its borders over a long period of time.
Don't try to oversimplify things where Russia are "the bad guys" and the opponents are without any responsibility.
NATO expansion was not happening nor going to happen. that is a story. a fiction, in your mind, planted there by Russian troll farms as a part of the propaganda war against the west. with these stories people like yourself are convinced of these lies, and hence, wars, and the support of wars of abject imperialist aggression occur. however, NATO has now expanded due to this aggression and formerly neutral states with tremendous military power are now a part of NATO, so the disinformation of this story had perverse and unintended outcomes for Putin.

I have become a big Harari fan over the years, but it's really dissapointing to see the same person enriching people with perspectives is not losing many words about the conflict fought by his home country.

Why do people fight?
Essentially,
We are born into this world with a human nature toward Sin. Once that nature is realized; we are each selfish and want the things we want.
Only the recognition of our Sin nature can bring us to the foot of the Cross.
Christ Jesus gives us the answers to Redemption of humanity and human nature.
We live in a broken and corrupted world.
Only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer,
can we understand the world in which we live.
Humans are not animals.
Humans were originally created in the image of God.
Humans are not gods.

How is mad and lie on what he just said? I will give an example: It is easy to take a gun with your hands, you just grab the weapon and take it, and at the same time, it is also easy to throw a gun from your hands, it is just an action that anyone can endure. If all the humans would be able to do this and understand that they have power to obey or not to obey, no imaginary leader of any imaginary group would be able to mandate more suffering, because there wouldn't be men and women willing to take guns to fight their psychopathic wars. All of these actions come from the MIND, which is the command center of your actions in the physical spectrum (aka from imaginary stories that you have been implanted from the brainwashing machines and sources since childhood).
You don't need to convince everyone that there is a war, you just need to convince the soldiers that there is a war. That can suddenly change too, like Christmas Truce in WW1.
