My husband and I up and moved our family from Washington State to Missouri last spring... We miss the mountains, ocean and flowing water but are happy to be able to have land, which we would not have been able to have if we stayed in WA...
Yes! We really miss the mountains & forest too. But it was so amazing seeing what we could afford here vs. up north. What I *donât* miss much is how much snow we used to get up there every year that I had to plow & shovel. đ
Looking forward to the series! Those pictures of ID make me miss the mountains and forests from where we came from!
Yes!
Solid. I'm considering moving as well and many considerations you mention I've had to consider myself, alpine, grow days, fodder vs. pasture, and even the relocation to MO. Will be interesting seeing futre videos.
Thank you, we are looking forward to getting more videos out for this series!
How are you dealing with the ticks in Missouri. Particularly the seed ticks as hundreds to thousands can show up on you at a time?
Have you had any issues? And have you talked to locals about the ticks?
Yes they are definitely a pain. For the most part, so long as we keep our inner yard area mowed shorts and clear of major brush, they arenât too bad of an issue in that area. We occasionally run chickens in there also to help. In the outer pasture there are a lot of ticks. And at certain times of the year The seed ticks are terrible. Best thing to do is take a thorough shower and wash clothes immediately after being in that kind of environment. Also long sleeves/pants can make it so you can just brush all the seed ticks off your clothes and wash them, and usually not too many will make it inside onto your skin as quickly.
@@TomWylie thank you so much for the response! Are ticks worse in idaho or Missouri? Did you have a huge problem in idaho as well?
We are interested in idaho but are not sure of the tick problem there if there is any?
@@vesselfit2use ticks are definitely in Idaho as well, but not nearly as prevalent as in Missouri. I had never experienced seed ticks until I was down here in Missouri. Iâve spent most of my life in eastern Washington and North Idaho and yes ticks are up there, especially in thick brush and out in the forest etc.
Missouri is definitely worse for them though.
@@TomWylie Thanks so much for the response! Definitely helps knowing what we might encounter.
The seed ticks in Missouri are something I can't stand. So I was hoping idaho wasnt the same and glad to hear it's not.
I'm originally from Arizona and have never knew of or experienced seed ticks until I came to Missouri. I think they are a massive deal breaker for me.
So thankful for your reply!
@@vesselfit2use you bet!
