Yes! Catching Pokémon felt refreshing! I wasn’t too impressed by the new battle system, but it was different and made me think differently. I wish most of the trainers had more than one Pokémon to battle.

It was fine, had some glaring issues tho
Imagine if they took this open world Pokemon and sneak catch real time mechanics, went mainline with it.... and also gave you a first person camera and incorporated Snap photo grading mechanics and behavior (maybe diluted bc behavior is a lot easier to bluff in the on rail context).... then Pokemon might really stay relevant and frankly... awesome amid the emerging new school of monster games like the upcoming DokeV... and the main thing is... they already have the code to do this they'd just need to develop and iterate..

I'm sure you're learned by now but Gyro controls are in the options, but for some reason they decided to set it off as the default. Nintendo is the #1 supporter of Gyro aim tho so I knew immediately I needed to check the options when I saw they weren't on.
haha you’re right - i realized this after i made the video but i’m just thankful that it’s in there. The game’s totally playable without gyro aim but tbh i think gyro just enhances the experience for sure.

It’s important to note that this game is a “spin-off” from the main series of Pokémon games. I hope Pokémon Legends will become a series like Mystery Dungeon, Colosseum & XD Gale of Darkness, and Snap. “Refreshing” is the best word to describe my feelings of Legends Arceus. It made me feel like I was actually researching Pokémon in their natural habitat. I don’t know how much of this game’s mechanics will be implemented into the main series, but hopefully the strengths will be added rather than it’s weaknesses.
I totally agree. Legends is interesting because it presents itself as a spin-off or a prequel of sorts, kind of like Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII in relation to FFVII, but it also really looks and plays like a blueprint for the main series of games to take inspiration from and follow in the future. My hopes is that this game’s successes will influence the mainline games, but i really just hope that we continue to see Game Freak expand on the brilliant ideas that they have here, whether in spin-offs or in mainline games.

oh yeah and it’s way more fun than it has any business being lol - hopefully in Gen 9 we’ll see this idea grow even more!
