You’re half right- Nobody would argue the 1980s were the golden years of basketball, however that lead to the NBA’s over expansion. I believe you have stated he is your 2nd favorite NBA player, and you don't use white as an adjective. I appreciate that. On another note, most players, who know Rodman, know he is a bit crazy, but then say he is a really good souled person, off the basketball court. I believe that myself because of an old Reader's Digest account of him doing really kind things for a sick, young boy, many years ago. On the basketball court, he is a great defender, as most NBA fans know, but he sure does a lot of dumb aggravating things, that sometimes take up a lot of time, and could get him and/or somebody else hurt. The mold was broke after he was made, for better or worse.

Larry had the perfect shueting form if you are unathletic. Behind the head, it's almost like a hook shaht in man-to-man confrontation when trying to block it. Then, he was tall for his position at the time(making it even harder). Then, he was a precise shueter when open and very accurate under diress! He also seemed very calm no what was going on: calm enough to make that great pass or make the shaht! When you have that going for you, there's nothing you can do unless your measurables are a good bit bigger(basically a Tayshaun Prince type--he was a freak size wise and play the perimeter*). Though they were about the same size, Dennis' size hampered him in defending Bird; he needed to be bigger than Bird(due to Bird's form and shaht accuracy) or hope he had an off night. There waa nothing Dennis could do.

One on one on an island he was average at best. However, the NBA is a team game and Bird was a great all around player with fantastic hands and instincts.
In a team situation he made great defensive plays routinely. Like that steal against Detroit.
It wasn't that he stood up Isaiah Thomas out on the perimeter and forced him to give up the ball...no.
But he made a fool out of him just the same. At the most crucial time. With the game on the line.

Some comments re Larry Bird being slow, not measuring up to todays NBA are non-sensical.
I don't think Bird is as slow as some people claimed. Sure, he didn't dunk from the free throw line either. But he didn't need to be flat out quick or Jordanesque athletic.
He probably had better timing and coordination than almost anyone in the NBA then or now. Watching footage of him, he also seemed to be a move or two ahead of his opponents. A fake to put his opponent out of position or being in the right place at the right time always seemed to happen with Bird more than other players. The intercept of Zeke's inbound pass being the most notable. But there are countless examples of Larry Bird doing these kinds of things to everyone and as James Worthy said, making them look stupid.
Not to mention Bird's deadly shooting....
There are a small handful of players who would shine in any era. Bird is definitely one of them.

His inability to beat guys 1 on 1 off the dribble was a big flaw in his offensive game.
The highest scoring season of his career in 87-88 ended up with him completely getting shutdown by Detroit.

Its funny how they say this era was so much more physical and they had to murder someone to get a foul yet Bird just got some crazy ticky tack fouls to start the video lol

You’re wasting your time and energy if you do.

If Larry played in Europe Rodman wouldn't be able to make a women's team in high school. I hate how players are jealous of the success deserving players have. He could beat rodman left handed with back problems. It's funny you have all these hall of famers including Michael Jordan telling you Larry is the truth and people still hate.

I saw Larry Bird in his prime and if Nikola Jokić and Luca Dončić are superstars in today's NBA, Larry Bird woulda crushed it in today's game, where the physicality is basically nonexistent, and I bet that Larry Bird would cringe at load-management!
