Sick concept. I've been trying to master the sound of JSR too and make my own version of the style, and I have 2 main notes: First, you should add some glitch parts with transitions, like spamming the kick, looping a single beat of all the instruments a bunch of times, that kinda stuff. A great example of Hideki Naganuma doing this is in his song That's Enough, which is probably one of my favorites by him. Another thing is, if I'll be honest I can't really say for sure since I haven't gotten a chance to listen with headphones yet, but the part between the main beat sounds like it needs more. I like what you did with the bed squeak and stuff though, it def sounds like something that would be utilized that way if it was a thing when Hideki was originally making the music to JSR. Other than that it's really solid and we need more people making this old school hip hop and funk fusion stuff. Really awesome. One thing that helps a LOT is trying to recreate one of hideki's songs from the games. Not only will it let you see how he went around his sound design and adjustments to the samples he used, but it also helps you deconstruct the the structure of the song and making you put it back together in with the same formula. Really dope stuff though, I look forward to more of what you make in the future. Also sorry for such a long comment lol
don't worry, I love long comments lol. But yes I agree with the part in the middle between the beats. I was actually thinking of making some more fleshed out JSR styled songs. I can really only do so much on stream and it would be a shame to only make these on stream. Maybe I'll make a JSR EP or something. Either way, I will definitely return to this track someday and flesh it out. Thank you for the comment!
It was great. I do believe it needs some more polishing. I would leave it and come back to it later. I dont like the skateboard kick flip sound effect. Other than that its fire.
Yoo thank you for the feedback! Yeah the skateboard sample does seem to stick out a bit. I will probably polish it into a full release sometime into the future
@@Zakkujo I'm probably way too late, but maybe replace it with a skateboard grind or slide, or any other more white noise-y type skateboard/rollerblade sound
This is sweet! I also tried making a JSR type song recently which was harder than I expected but it looks like you've perfected the formula
Thanks! Yeah these kinds of songs are actually quite difficult to make. It's pretty hard to find the proper samples and what not
This Needs to be a Mod for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
