    As a planner and urban designer, i'd tend to say that large amounts of on-street car parking and surface parking are a sign of failure of placemaking. Appreciate that it may be difficult to do anything significant in the Economy 2.0 world, but a more Transit-Orientated-Development (TOD) approach, would be better for the people living on that new shopping street. You've already put the density in, now you need to make the streets walkable and ensure that walking and cycling is the easiest way to get around - with anything further than local, being accessed by rapid transit (i.e. trams or bus-rapid-transit). Parking should be at the edge of the settlements either in multi-storey car parking or (as the tend to do in Europe), underground.

      @graememoore4830 Před 7 dny +9

      @@inyobill Not necessarily, it's just in cities, you should really be aiming for transit-orientated-development as it's more efficient, viable and supports a mix of uses. Nothing is stopping places carrying on as they are with suburban sprawl, but this has too many disadvantages - that being said, you have to provide a range of housing options in order to succeed. Some people want the privacy that a detached house provides, others prefer the mix and thrill of the city. The main point is that wherever you are - in suburban sprawl or high density TOD, you should have access to high quality transit which means you don't have to use the car for journeys of less than 2km. There's plenty of innovative ways as to how you can provide medium to high density family homes. Look at examples like Vauban in Freiburg, or Almere in Holland or Hammarby Sjostad in Sweden. Portland in the US is also held up as a good example as place where TOD has been implemented.

Economy 2.0 seems to have made the simulation even slower as I used to get to 300k before issues now its about 180k. Perhaps I didn't use enough public transit in this city.
    Overall I like what the patch has done. Feels much more like a proper successor to sim city now. Only problem is if you shock your economy late games the simulation is so slow you will never recover. Literally spent 8 hours trying to recover a city in a death spiral and eventually had to give up. People were moving in but people kept dying faster. I like doing these shocks in city builders and an excuse for urban renewal so its a little sad the game doesn't run well enough to be able to do this. Skylines 1 also struggled with these shocks but the simulation was still fast enough it was possible to recover. The problem is you change the taxes and then the effect happens 5-10 minutes later so you change it back same thing happens... Eventually you max out loans and go bankrupt.
    I think the tile upkeep mechanic might be making this worse as its making the city denser which is concentrating pops in less space. Also I noticed groups of people just standing around glitching. Hopefully these problems are just bugs/tuning and will be fixed soon.

    There was a tip the cities skylines CZcams channel gave for high unemployment. They said to zone more industry regardless of the demand bars. I think this would have been the best move and would have prevented your unemployment spiking to 70%

    The 1st time I got on after the patch, I pulled up an old city I had and let it run for 3 months. just to see what happened. originally in the beginning i had a pop of 80k and losing like 1 mil a month on the budget. By the time the 3 months were over my pop had skyrocketed to 120k and i was now losing 9 mil a month. Guess its time to start a new city.

    i was contemplating getting this after the economy 2.0 update, but this just seems so frustrating to try to engage with. everything from road drawing, to demand, to zoning, to importing services, to economy balancing, it all seems like its fighting you all the time. I just don't want to feel like I'm fighting a games mechanics in my supposed relaxing time. it makes me so sad to see all this.

    Trams and buses really need to be fixed, I want control over the stopping times! or #Biffa should stay away from all stations!
    There are trams and buses that find it necessary to take a tea break at the station 🤬 causing trams and buses to run in a clump and not spread out neatly at an equal distance.
    Causing stations to freeze and despawn🙄and all the problems that follow😭

    At 12:39, you are charging way too much in taxes. That’s why you have a huge unemployment rate. The businesses close down because they can’t afford to pay the taxes or don’t want to. Anything above 10% will screw up your city big time especially if you don’t have any money saved up.

    Question. I see you have lots of farms. When you look at your charts for wealth. Do the farms make money or are they operating at a loss?
    Edit: I ask because most of my farms make negative income in the wealth charts. Deficit and surplus seem to be very important now.

    I'm sure your "background" music's getting louder. Might have to start putting captions on! Won't stop me watching, but it's irritating, because my brain focuses more on the music than you! Only when you're talking, though.

    • @quentinduch1625
      @quentinduch1625 Před 7 dny +1

      It might also be caused by CZcams's "stable volume" feature that's enabled by default and can cause an imbalance between the background music and the voiceover.
      Check if it's enabled on your player and if you spot a difference with it turned on or off

    • @Caro2Late

      I watch people stream games on a regular basis and this topic comes up sometimes. While I hear no music, some people ask to turn it down (my hearing is regulary tested bc of the work I do.. I'm glad that isn't the issue 😅).
      It is an important topic, Iskall85 is a gamer/streamer/youtuber who made a few polls once to find out more:
      Most people who experienced loud music were watching on a small screen (phones, tablets, laptops etc). But we couldn't pinpoint it directly to this, because not everyone watching on a small screen heared the music. I really wanted to hear the music, so after that stream I actually upgraded the soundsystem I have for my big screen 😂. Now it's there, but not yet overpowering.
      He was right about there being a big difference in quality though.
      I was wondering if your device settings are perhaps set to 'music' instead of 'speech'. I'm not a native English speaker, so I'm not sure what the setting names are called on your device.
      If it's very annoying in this video, it might be worth checking perhaps? It would be wonderful if it's a matter of a few clicks ofcourse. I really hope this helped.
      Hope you have a wonderful day nonetheless 😊

      @@quentinduch1625 Thanks for the tip, I never even noticed that! Even though the music didn't bother me, my curiousity begged me to try it. Big difference for me. The music turned down immediately. So thanks for teaching me this existed 🙂

      It was in the first half or so of this video where the music was vying for attention, but it seemed to ease off by the end. I watched through again just to make sure it wasn't a matter of me getting used to the sound as it played through, but the music definitely seemed more dominant early on.
      I'm watching on my TV which has decent sound.
