It is a year today that our wonderful son Dan passed. We know he would not want us to remember him with sadness but to remember the courage, fun and craziness he shared with us. Here is Dan's first ever vlog attempt when he was very young and some other out-takes we hope will help you remember him with a smile! Don't give in, Don't give up -Martin & Lin.

I just discovered Dan today. I was recently given 3 months to live. But after meeting Dan in his videos, I feel like I've lost a brother. I hope the best to you all.

My dad passed on June 6th 2020, also 6 days before my 16th birthday. His death was a complete accident and was the most traumatic thing I've ever experienced and probably will be for the rest of my life. Me and my dad had such a great bond, we'd play final fantasy together, we'd go swimming and fishing together, and we'd even have long conversations about life. Before his passing I only got in contact with him after 4 years of not being able to see him, but unfortunately the time I last spent with him was very insignificant, but those last few months of spending time with him and getting to know him as the person he'd become over the years, was more than I could take, those memories are the ones I'll hold onto until the day I pass. My fathers passing has taught me the importance of living a full life, and that I should honor my dad by living, not waiting to die, not waiting for something good to happen out of the blue, but to live as he would want me to. I see that exact thing in how you guys are dealing with your son's passing, you push on through the pain, and its lovely to see that you guys are doing that.

Great comment, I wish that you won't be mentally affected badly by the incident. It's tough to read comments like this, especially knowing that the tragic accident happened 1 day after I turned 13. If you don't mind me asking (and you don't need to answer if you don't feel comfortable), what was the cause?
My old man passed away in 2019 from cancer. Accidents are probably more traumatic since you get no time to prepare or having it sink in. And being so young too, i do hope that you have someone to turn to. Life can be truly rough.
He has been such an inspiration to me all those miles away. His passing hurt me deeply. He was such a strong person and I not only live for myself but in honor of him because his fight was until the very end! Here's remembering you Dan! Continue being that much deserved rest love! You and your family are still in my prayers!

Yeah, it hurt me too. I came to really appreciate and have a respect / deep-caring for Dan. I thought he would make it. I was shocked when I got the news in my feed. I was depressed for a good week after hearing it. So, you are not only one who felt like they were gut-punched.

Yes, I miss him too. I had just tried not to think of who we have lost. It hurts too much to remember, because my Dad's in that group ... with PWT's now. Kills me to think they're not with us.

I'm ashamed I'm just finding his channel now but even though he's gone he's still able to reach out to new ppl like me everyday through the hard work he put in on here, and that's an incredible feat for anyone to do.

I think of him often also. I watched all of his videos of his cancer journey and never thought I'd have to take that journey with myself or anyone else in my family; however, I had to face that with my husband who fought an 18 month battle with a very rare and very aggressive form of sinus cancer until he passed away 17 months ago. I'm glad I could watch Dan's videos which gave me strength to travel that cancer battle in very trying circumstances with my husband. I too hope Mom, Dad, and Becca are doing well these days. RIP Dan.

@@baflabies Yes, it's been trying. To add to the journey, in 2019 hubby, myself, and our son were evicted from a house we'd rented for 22 plus years just after hubby had a soft fall and severely injured his leg so son and I had to do wound care for hubby in a motel room - then a few months later, the cancer diagnosis came and surgery followed by 40 radiation treatments (he had to be fed with a feeding tube and specialized formula) then the cancer was making a comeback in the same area and he started chemo - he had breathing issues after his 7th chemo treatment (he had very severe asthma for over 20 years by that time) and had to go to the hospital then he chose to stop chemo and go into hospice which he was in for the final 3 months of his life. Most of the cancer journey was during COVID so we couldn't even visit him in the hospital for all of his hospitalizations and for the first 2 weeks in hospice. Son and I are still having to live in a motel. But, I try to find one bright spot each day to keep on trudging through life.

I hope there is something after this. I don't think there is.
I was a Hospice RN for 17 years and had so many spiritual experiences. One incident I was working in the Hospice Inpatient Unit where we had 10 beds for the patients. I had one woman who was actively dying. As I passed by her room I peeped in and saw her sitting up on the side of her bed smiling. I walked on by then stopped recalling she's not been doing so well..also..she was missing a leg and when I just saw her a few seconds prior she had both legs. I backed up and looked in the room and she was still laying in bed. I thought maybe I had seen soul getting ready to leave the body. She looked so happy. After the end of my shift I went home. When I walked in my house there she was standing in my hallway. She had both legs, looked at least half her age and was smiling so brightly. I stood there, smiled at her, thanked her for giving me a visit then she faded away. I called work and told them to go in and check on her, the nurse came back to the phone and affirmed she had passed. I felt so blessed she chose to touch in and share her joy passing on.
I recently did an interview about some of my hospice patients that returned to say 'thank you' and let me know they were ok, it's on my channel, Part 2
damn. anyone else get these experiences? btw. check out aubrey de grey. he is spearheading medical research to reverse ageing so that hospice care is much less needed. basically be 90 years old and feel and look and act like a 25 year old, but with wisdom

my mom passed away last week and so how I found Dan and this is so hard to watch I was so hoping he would make it, I am gutted and I am so blessed to have found this channel and my mom was lead to rest yesterday and my heart is broken !

Same here. And, he spent time to write me back. I encouraged him because my father beat cancer for so many odd-years until it finally beat him. But, he got more years than anyone expected. That's what I told PWT's.

lovely video , i was 10 when my dad died from a massive heart attack he was only 38 , and i am now 50 , its been 40 years but never a day goes by i dont miss him or think about him, you keep the memories in your heart , and remember them for ever, never take anything for granted, live everyday like it your last, as nothing last for ever that was a lession i learnt from young age, thats one thing it taughtt me , dont take life for granted live your life , good bless every one xx

I can't believe that Dan is gone. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I lived a long life and if I could have I would gladly have changed places with him. He was super honest and an awesome amazing warrior. I don't think there will ever be anyone else like him. He helped me so much. You are wonderful parents who raised a wonderful son. I remember finding this guy on my dad's last 2 weeks, and they both passed within days of each other. God bless them both. Both brave men who fought to the very end.
