    My confessions are I don't like dolls kept in box I always feel like they're being imprisoned, I think I've watched to many TV shows and films about Toys coming to life lol. I fashion fantasies with my dolls dressing them how I'd dress if I had the body or confidence. I also hate people calling dolls creepy or ugly, even if the doll isn't my taste I can still appreciate somebody put a lot of time and passion into it. Your husband sounds like such a sweet man I always love hearing your stories about the dolls he bought you and how supportive he is, congratulations on your anniversary.💜

      My sister used to keep her dolls in the boxes and I always felt so sorry for them. Mine would get played with so much they would not look so great after a while, but I always thought they had a good life because they got played with.

      Yes!! I am definitely not an in the box collector. Even before watching Toy Story I always felt like my dolls were alive somehow. However, a confession I meant to make but forgot to say is that I sometimes get a doll and don't unbox them for awhile. I like to save them for a rainy day so to speak.

    "You don't have to have expensive dolls to be a collector" Hits hard for me because most of my dolls are playline! Yeah, I have a Smartdoll, and I'm hoping to get an ob11 soon, but other than that? Playline, babey!! Especially Rainbow High as of late, I just can't seem to stop buying those...
    Also OOO I thought I was the only one who brings dolls out and about all the time!

    Thank you for sharing your confessions! I can relate to several of them, specially carrying dolls with me outside. I always wear a tiny doll in my purse when I need to do something that scares me a lot, like an exam or a job interview. It sort of makes me feel like I am not absolutely alone in front of danger, if that makes any sense? I am not brave enough to take them out of the purse when I am in these situations, but they are there, I can open the purse anytime and look at them, and they are like an emotional support anyway. That's my secret!

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls

    I appreciated a lot what you said about people calling dolls creepy. I'm a doll maker and people are calling my dolls "creepy", "ugly", "disturbing" all the time, and it really hurts, to the point of sometimes making me want to quit. i try to not be bothered by it, but what can i say, i put my heart into the dolls i make, and i understand they are not everybody's cup of tea so to speak, but there's no need to be rude about it. if they have nothing nice to say, i'd prefer if they kept their opinions to themselves lol.

    Yay for ten years of what sounds like a loving marriage!
    Your videos are so interesting. This was a fun idea to listen to.
    I always have a doll on my night stand, sometimes i lay them down in a bed at night and sit them up in the morning. I often let them hold a tiny animal and use a lap robe if it's chilly. I like changing their clothes and sometimes a setting though I don't really have room for displays. So, yes I play with my dolls in the same sense you were referring to.
    I like sewing for them also.
    Sometimes I take them places if I am going by myself. They bring a lot of fun, comfort, imagination and for some reason they make me happy. I do understand the love and enjoyment of dolls. I appreciate your channel!

    I’m a doll collector. I started collecting doll over 20 years , I like arranging mine into groups, some as couples, singles, working girls, kids and families. My dolls are given names according to the personality that I’ve given them. Before I name a doll I have to play with them until then they are just call doll. Another thing I also carry a doll with me when I go out, that just make my time out very pleasant because of that I find that I have a more pleasant Day out.

    Love your love story! Dolls are a good thing.
    Totally agree that people always calling dolls creepy is super annoying.
    I've dreamed a few times about dolls. Mostly about American Girl. Usually, I'm trying to purchase something and can't. I had one dream that somebody stole all my dolls. That actually woke me up like a nightmare and I got up to check if they were all here. It's that bad! They were by the way. I'm ok.
    I love finding dolls at thrift stores, flea markets and yard sales. I've gotten some of my favorite dolls that way. They usually need attention and I love fixing them up and buying clothes for them. I tell my husband cleaning, clothing and preparing dolls is relaxing for me. It's like unwind time after a busy day. Enjoyed your confessions

    Oh my gosh the shopping at night one🤦‍♀️...totally me. Not just doll stuff either! Love all your dolls, I'm currently wanting to go dolly thrift-store shopping. I tend to see the beauty in old, well-loved objects, so I love thrifting. I'd really like to find an AG project doll that I could clean up and restore. And I usually have a doll with me when I leave the house too.
    A lot of my dolls have their names written on them.
    It also bugs me when people call dolls creepy, especially when they get pushy about it.
    Ditto with the one picture to get me to buy somebody.
    I too play with my dolls, and I DO give them characters and tell stories about them. Even digital dolls get this treatment.
    Many many of my dolls are from the thrift store or even the DOLLAR store.
    Yes, sometimes I need to hug a doll to sleep well.
    also
    I have dolls in every room of my apartment except the storage rooms.

    I also Love to sew for them and find new patterns.
    The only dolls that creep me out are the vintage Baby dolls with the teeth.
    And I also fell in Love with a doll just with one picture, the MDCC Connie Lowe Lulu, she was My second doll.

    I think people call dolls creepy for two reasons:
    1) physically dolls represent little people; they think it is creepy to want to own little people?
    2) People project their fears and anxieties onto dolls, in much the same way us doll lovers project our positive feelings on dolls.

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls
      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  Před 3 lety +2

      I understand why they do it just as I understand why people might call some people fat or ugly or too skinny, soemthing that shouldn't be done but some people do nonetheless. I just feel like it's one of those things when people go out of their way to tell you that your hobby is "creepy" it really bothers me.

    We are the same!
    I always carry a doll with me especially if I have to be away from home for a long time and in the bag on normal days I always carry a toy with me.
    I hate people who say dolls are scary, I just can't stand them.
    All my dolls are in my bedroom so I sleep with them.
    I also play with my dolls, I love to dress them, photograph them, arrange them ..
    Finding unexpected dolls at the thrift store is always a great event and some finds are truly memorable. I understand you very well!

    Happy Anniversary! I have the doll dream - mine is about Monster High Dolls and accessories - my limiting feature is cost (they always seem to cost more in the dream) instead of not being able to carry enough - lol - so I send hours weighing up features and comparing. I met my husband when we were chatting on line about a Batman movie - then I found out that he worked at a comic book shop I shopped at, but we had never been there at the same time (small world). He doesn't understand the need to collect and why I need *so* many dolls, but he supports it.

    • @sukisakain
      @sukisakain Před 3 lety +1

      Please don’t feel insulted when people call dolls creepy. Although I agree that it can be quite rude to say, I also feel that, like any other artwork, has a right to express how it makes them feel. I think it is the uncanny valley factor that creeps people out. I have seen a very young child absolutely freak out and had a meltdown when she opened her parent’s birthday present for her, which was actually a very pretty, standard children’s doll. I used to have nightmares about dolls when I was a child and to this day, I still get chills and goosebumps over certain dolls. I can’t do dolls like American Girls since as to this day, the thought of them being in the same house as me, even when I don’t see them, still scares me even though I am in the medical field and have literally been in a room alone and handled dead bodies. Yet I keep my BJDs in my bedroom. If you think of dolls as art work, then like any other art work, they would evoke different emotions and different reactions from people. 😁

    My confession about dolls would be I’ve never spent more than $25 on a doll (my huge Amaya Rayne) so I’ve have a few people say I don’t count as a collector. It’s just that I love dolls and I’m broke 😅 so I can’t but them expensive, I have a few (like my Cottingley Glen Fairy dolls who are so beautiful) that I’ve been gifted and a few (like some Disney Animator dolls, Kiss Me Truly Blythe and the other Blythe who’s name I think is Guava) that I’ve gotten from thrifting (btw the Blythes were $1 each!!! So cool), but the rest are mostly cheaper play-line types and yeah I sometimes feel I don’t fit in a doll collecting community cause I don’t have any by artists or anything like that.
    *edit* Oh and I forgot, I get so annoyed when I’m buying a doll at a thrift store and the employee checking me out is like “oh is this for your daughter?” and I’m just like no I don’t have any kids I just want her… it feels so judgy even if it isn’t actually

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls

  • @sighthoundlady15
    @sighthoundlady15 Před 3 lety +1

    Ha these are all really great, could definitely relate to a lot of them!
    And I have to say, it helps me to feel less crappy about myself knowing that I’m not the only one that has to be in bed by 7, my Spoonie body requires it.
    I may lay there an hour or two though before actually going to sleep, knitting, sewing, reading, and of course online shopping! And definitely a dolly or two (or 3, or 4 or 5...) on my nightstand. We may be relegated to bed but thank goodness for dollies and smart phones! 💕
    I find it hurtful too when people will say that a doll I love is creepy.. At the same time I do understand because I was very phobic of dolls when I was a child. I was spooked very badly by a raggedy Ann doll of all things, sitting innocently in a window when I was about 4. And was always very adverse to realistic looking baby dolls for as long as I could remember.. I was definitely never exposed to any sort of horror movies as a child so this was an inborn thing that I think is to a lot of people probably that uncanny valley thing. 😅🙈
    But happy tenth anniversary to you and your hubby, that’s fantastic!
    Thank you for another fun video!💕

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls
      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  Před 3 lety +1

      Yessss! We need that time to regenerate and reenergize for the next day, even if we aren't sleeping! It's so important!
      And I do get that some people have a legitimate fear of dolls (like when the one fell on my B-I-L while sleeping 🤣). I think it's the intent behind it when people say it -- he was genuinely disturbed when it happened to him but I think some people just say it for the shock value.
      Thank you so much for watching 💜💜

    One thing that I like to tell people that weirds them out is, "I spend more on doll clothes than my own clothes." I'll balk at a $20 t-shirt for myself and think, "I can find a cheaper shirt." $30 for doll shoes? Won't blink an eye.
    I dream about dolls too. I had a dream last week that I was at a thrift store and found 4 My Child dolls (which are a brand I collect). And all of them had very bad chops to their hair. It was kind of sad. 2 of them, I bought in the dream. I could only buy 2 for some reason. Can't remember why. Thrift stores or yard sales are my most common doll dreams. I do have 2 My Child dolls that I did buy from thrift stores.
    You story about buying dolls from one photo reminded me of back when Pullip Style had a forum. I had just bought Pullip Kore (first release) from them, and when she arrived, I took some photos with some azalea blossoms. I posted in the forum, and someone replied that my photos convinced her that she to have that doll.
    You said you're from Charlotte. I'm from Greensboro. ;)

    I refused to buy an artisans BJD because I am dolly destructive...I like to pull them apart and make new creations, and no doll is safe. I can have a beloved doll and when I have the inkling to "experiment" with my dolls, it doesn't always go as planned, and I am completely fine with that. I wouldn't want to hurt any artisan's feelings, just like you have a hard time making room for more dolls by rehoming others.
