@@ujtb Thank you!! I can say you likely wouldn't be disappointed!! I didn't have it for long just cause I needed the money for my new setup but it's the most fun sequencer I've used for sure once you learn it!
@@hexwavemusic yeah, I'm just in doubt at the moment, the music I do the lack of inspiration and then I look at the fact that it's a Euclidian with probability and random? Could I just not use a max4live device that does this at 1 10th of the price and get a midi controller for it? 🤣 I'm so conflicted at the mo.

Thank you! I am a T-1 user and I am definitely taking notes on this! The difference between cycles and steps is still confusing for me. Videos like this help!
Oh that's great! Glad it is of help 🙂 I'm still getting my head around some parts too, making these videos helps me learn it as well!
So basically each cycle will have all of the steps in it that you set, so like, if you have 4 cycles and 16 steps set, your full pattern for that selected track is 4x16 steps = 64 steps.
Each cycle can be customized to play different settings/notes/parameters, so they can be as similar or different to each other as you choose. So cycles are more for making a longer song progression, if that's what your song needs. If you don't need multiple variations of your bars to play in your pattern, you can just put it down to one cycle and ignore them completely (but they are fun to use!)
For steps, you can set it up to 64 steps, but also since you can put it on non even numbers that means it would go out of sync with other instrument tracks, which can lead to cool rhythms as it loops through and eventually syncs up again. Plus randomizing the step count can make some neat unpredictable stuff.

Cycles are my favourite thing on the T-1.
I don't know if this helps but...
Steps are a number of divisions within atrackn. Cycles are a number of replications of that track. 4 by default so a one bar track becomes a four by track. Useless unless you edit the different cycles to create variations.

Hey thanks and I get that 😂 It's complex to learn the details of how things work for sure, but in the end even mistakes generally sound pretty good on it 🤷
That said I sold mine! I love it but it is too hard to write a specific melody on it. The generative possibilities are amazing, but if you like writing your own melody lines it is a bit of a pain on this for sure. Maybe they'll update it later to add step recording or something!
@@hexwavemusic no way really? You sold it? Okay.. i think then maybe it is more for live improvising or to get some ideas going in the studio.
@@NOGASAYAN It's a great live performance machine and for improvising for sure! I'd not look too much into me selling it, I've bought and sold a LOT of gear over the past few years. I just wanted to eliminate an extra machine in the chain, but it's really fun and powerful. Again the biggest weakness is custom melodies instead of the generative melodies it excels at.
Great insights my friend! What's your favorite feature on the T1 so far? I've seen many comments out there from the community hopping for a screen to be added to the engine. I kinda like the straight forward approach of this instrument/sequencer. Not sure to see what a screen could add to the experience.
Honestly I'd be disappointed if they made a V2 with a screen. I think while a couple things would be easier, but on the whole the only reason people want a screen is because they don't spend the time to learn it!
Honestly, all the great features of the sequencer itself aside, my favorite thing is probably the lack of a screen which just makes it seem like a very simple, intuitive and powerful controller. Refreshing since the Elektrons feel more like computers with all the menus. Thanks for watching!
