- Another ambient session this morning, just woke up and still sleepy, and Gimli was sleeping behind me so I had to move the camera to include him in the performance :)
Nothing too crazy here, just one digitone track, a bass and kick from the syntakt, two more melodic tracks on syntakt, and then for fun I tried some fx modulation. I set the FX channel to its own midi so I can control it better, and have a slow release high pass filter on it, as well as some LFOs making a burst of delay time movement on trigs, as well as moving the filter envelope start point so it has a little more inconsistency.

Dude for ambient stuff, this is pretty active and full sounding. I can almost hear an imaginary linn drum come in with those 80s toms and snares. But then interestingly it never comes, keeping you in ancient ambient crystal caverns, where there are crystal lizards that if you attack them, they drop rare ore, but they scuttle off of you get too close. Careful there's only a limited amount of those in one playthrough, so if you wanna upgrade your shit, better run after them... Or use a ranged attack.
In other words I really liked it!
Hah yes I keep calling slower things ambient even that's not really accurate, sometimes I say "downtempo" but I'm not sure if I'm using that wrong, but I guess I also don't really care 🤷
Crystal caverns 100%, I can see those crystal lizards running away left and right and me falling down a hole and dying trying to catch it 😂

I meant it more like your ambient music is engaging, as opposed to boring and uneventful. I do consider this ambient music though. But what do I know? I really shouldn't be genre calling 🤣 of all people. I've been getting "well it's not really black metal, but something else" comments lately and I keep thinking, well what the fuck do I call it then? The algorithm already ignores my calls and walks past me in the hallways at school, even when I say hi...
If I call it "synth based aggressive electronica with harsh vocals but only sometimes when it's not clean vocals over almost hip hop beats but sometime old rompler sounds played in a way that sounds like video game music from DOS era PC games and occasionally shitty jazz" then the algorithm never recommend me and I'll never convince Rihanna to have my baby.
@@GeorgeL909 Hah no I know, I just mean I don't particularly feel ambient fits most of my "ambient" tracks myself, I just find it an easy word to tack on to set the expectations that I'm not going to have any blastbeats and pant shitting tones (or less often).
I remember recently when someone called out a song of yours not being correctly genre labelled and I just wanted to die laughing, like is this how you're spending your time, gatekeeping genres of the most random music you could find on youtube? 😆 I think the shotgun-blast of genre labelling you do is as accurate as one can be 🧐

Good talk man. They say comments and interaction is good for the videos. Like when you talk to plants or something to make them grow. So I'm always happy to vent in your comment section or discuss the various women of hip hop who have yet to have my baby for reasons that confound and perplex me.
