Hello Kenneth. I don't know if you are aware of fact that this channel and that what you are doing is extremely important.
Your videos are all manuals that someone need to repair old cameras or lenses.
Your videos are absolutly unique and priceless.
Unbelievable that something like that exist.
    Something to admire ...

Thank's A LOT Danijel :-), when I started my channel in 2011 with a simple webcam and a computer and no sound, well, it was just because I would like to share my own experience in camera and lens repair during many years, so it's a kind of passion for me. But I have no idea how needed the information actually is, but now I can better see that since there are not so many repair shops anymore, I would guess that if someone have the information on "how to" fix there camera or lens, they would do it themself and save money and learn something new. I think it's very interesting to provide the learning material and in that way get the info "down to Earth", in many cases it's enough with the correct tools (and of course a lot's of patience), there are of course a problem to get spare sparts. When I got a HD video camera it turned out be better with the narration, so I will continue to make more videos about different cameras and lenses.
      Cheers
      Kenneth

It’s interesting watching someone fix the F2 camera. I have repaired at least a thousand of these in my lifetime. Still considered best film camera ever built.

Thank you Kenneth for such an informative masterclass! It actually has scared me. :) I have got a "little" problem: there is a loose inner battery contact in my F2. The Ground is OK. According to the video, I need to peel the leatherette and dismount the mirror block completely in order to reach the battery soldering point and there is no way to do it just removing the bottom plate... I really need some courage...

It's unfortunate that there is so much damage inside that Nikon F2! I shudder to think how the film advance was forced into the position it's now in. Someone was a little too heavy handed!

29:25 you talked about placing foam under the spring to deaden the boing/pinging noise. How much foam needs to be placed there (and what kind of foam) and exactly where? My F2 is pinging terribly when the mirror slaps down at the finish.

Hi Kenneth! Thnx for having this channel! GREAT!! I have an Nikon F2 and need to correct the focus in the house. No matter what lens I put on, the focus is out and not available to get the straight focus in the finder window. It is always out of shape. Do ya have an explanation what the issue is and maybe even how to fix it? Kind regards!

Hi Mike - I wonder if you could help - my camera was working fine mechanically (I took the mirror box off to fix the corroded battery compartment), but now when I put the mirror box back on the camera the shutter release button is locked and the camera won't wind on. I can trigger the camera from the bottom and then wind on, but then the shutter release is still locked.
Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Hi, what is the cause of the coupling lever to be in "down" position instead of "up". This makes my viewfinder dark at higher (smaller aperture) f number. The lever has tension to be in "down" position.

Hello mikeno62! I recently got this camera and I’m having an issue with removing the top piece like what you did at 9:52 in this video. I heard a ‘click’ after pressing the button and turning the lever at the same time, but the piece seems very stuck on, what should I do? In addition, that same piece when looking at the front of the camera says the aperture is always at 2 and does not move when the bunny ears move. What would you recommend doing about this

    • @adityav5239

Paint thinner works very well to disolve leatherette glue. Dip a cotton bud in ut and apply at the glue. This results in no scratches and an undamaged leatherette

Hi Kenneth, thanks for another great video. I have enjoyed playing with film cameras lately and I've used your videos to fix multiple issues with my Nikon F and F2.
I was wondering if you have any advise for a new issue I'm having with a recently acquired Nikon F3. I just got it and everything works great except after winding the film the advance lever does not spring back to the starting position. I have to do that manual each time before winding again. I'm not positive but it seems like either a spring is dislodged or missing from the winding mechanism so the advance lever has no tension. I've scoured the internet and spent hours looking at the Nikon F3 service manual but I cannot find a solution? Can you offer any advice? Thanks in advance.

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  Před 5 lety

Hmm, poor old F3, to me it also sound's like a dislodged spring under the advance arm, but it could also be broken spring that pull's the advance arm back in staring position or maybe other issues. But it gives me the inspiration to actually make some videos about the Nikon F3 sooner (I have thinking about the F3 as a subject for some time).
      Cheers
      Kenneth
