I completely agree with you, a speedometer that is not in the middle is like a fist in the eye. Sometimes manufacturers make a great engine and then screw it up on the little things. Take for example the Triumph, the beautiful T120, T100 or Speed Twin 1200, the most beautiful analog instruments in the world, and then they spoil everything on the Speed Twin 900, which only has an analog speedometer. I can forgive only one brake disc in the front, when I drive I look further ahead anyway, but the instruments are another matter.
I love classic motorcycles and symmetrical things, I don't think I'm the only one in the world. Two cylinders, two exhaust pipes, two front brake discs, instrument panel in the middle, analog speedometer and tachometer in the panel. A message to all manufacturers: You have all kinds of options and accessories that I and many others don't need at all, and you don't have options that support symmetry on the bikes of the related line. 😪

Surprised there are so many Harley haters. I admit I wasn't a fan of the usual Harley look with the big front fairings but I love the look of their older bikes. Then in a recent video from F.Dobbs he showed how easy it was to remove the bags and fairing. Suddenly, without the front fairing and just the round headlight it looked amazing (to me).
Love the Meteor 350 myself. I think it looks better with the metallic paint and chrome variants (but like you said it's great to have options for everyone).

I've had three Harley Davidsons. Two Sportster 883's and a Dyna Low Rider. Always over engineeried they felt like they would do a million miles (I did about 3k per year 😂) I enjoyed my Harley ownership very much. The only thing I didn't quite gel with was the lifestyle thing. I've always been a bit of a lone biker and was it was a little frowned upon not being part of the "clan". Also, there was a bit of "mine's better than yours" going on. They're great bikes though once you "get" them. Not for blighty weather though. Getting caught in a rainstorm meant a three hour cleaning job - with a toothbrush. But I would never criticise anyone's choices which is something that some other's do and this is actually something not strictly limited to Harley Davidson.

The Harleys like the Royal Enfields have " Soul ", unlike many of the Japanese and some BMW's... no matter how much tech or advance whatever you have it can feel like you are riding an air conditioner and even if it's faster , smoother, and brakes better if it does not have that soul factor it is the same as a Honda Accord vs an old tech Jaguar or MG..... and it is obviously ALL subjective. I love all motorcycles and all brands and have owned BMWs and Harleys, Suzukis and KTMs to name a few. Go out and ride what you love.

A motorcycle is a tool. You wouldn’t try to ride a Road King or Gold Wing on a motocross track nor would you want to ride a 125 cross country on a highway where the speeds are 70 MPH or better. I don’t own a Harley but just rented a Road Glide and finished two days, over six hundred miles at speeds of 80 MPH and higher. The machine handled it without any issues and I was very comfortable. For a long distance machine I wouldn’t chose any other.

I'm from the US, a lot of the people here ride Harleys. Personally I ride a Triumph Speedmaster, I prefer the modern classics. So it's not that I dislike Harleys necessarily, they're great bikes. What I dislike is the way they run their dealerships, the high pricing of their bikes, and the complete lack of lower displacement models. I don't think I will ever be a Harley guy simply because the price is too high, I can easily find a bike that has just as much style and will do the same thing for me for a fraction of the price

Some insight on why so many are so venomous towards HDs. It has less to do with the actual motorcycles and more to do with the obnoxiousness of Harley culture and riders. For a great many Harley riders, it's not about love of motorcycling, it's about a tough guy image. They aren't riding a motorcycle, they are riding a logo. It's an arrogant and obnoxious demographic that they've catered to, and more and more riders find it silly, and get irritated with the smugness. It's easy to impose that on the bikes themselves. HD has their work cut out for them in attracting new customers. What was once great marketing, is now a growing liability.

Constructive criticism and a difference of opinion is a great and welcome contrast when done fairly. For instance who really likes adverts in the middle of a show 😂. I think we have all wanted things to be simpler and coming from a generation when they were, we are lucky to still have that chance. You both love your bikes and certainly fortunate you get the chance to try so many and does create great content and entertainment to enjoy. 👍

I can remember back in the mid 1960s when Harley's were getting pinged by the press because of the bad quality builds under AMF ownership. In late 1960s again the press were negatively comparing the speed, build quality of less costly Japanese brands . Then everyone got mad at Harley when they asked and received temporarily relieve from the government with tariffs on imported machines over 700ccs.
Perhaps one of the last pieces of resentment was Harley's success and popularity of their bikes in the 1990s accompanied with exorbitant price hikes and arrogance by Corporate Harley and it's dealers.
There also been some European governments in the 2000s using Harley as the stick to beat American trade policy with the EU and still do.
I guess if just look at the spec sheet and the value per dollar then the Harley models will never seem worthy.

For me it is not a hate of the bikes when it comes to Harley Davidson, quite the opposite, fricken love them. The problem is more with the corporation and the artificially inflated prices. They aim to be a premium brand, and price their products as such, at least in my country. They are much more expensive than the competition, and that makes me feel like the bikes are not worth the price tag. Leaves me very disappointed and annoyed, and it is easy to take it out on the reviewers in the comment section.
One thing that triggers me to no end, is when the reviewer says the MSRP of the bike, and neglect to mention that it is actually completely impossible to buy the bike anywhere near that price at the dealerships. There are so many fees and added costs, that the end price is at least 10% above MSRP out the door, and sometimes even higher. Gives a false impression of "expensive but affordable" when you watch reviews, when in reality they are priced high above their perceived value.
As a Harley lover, and dreamer, that is frustrating and it pisses me off. I had the cash, went to a dealership after picking the bike I'd love to own, then got so much added cost and fees I just said no thanks and left, even though I had enough cash to buy even at the inflated price, I just felt cheated, it felt like a scam, so a hard pass on that "deal". Went to a Triumph dealership and picked up a bike at below the listed price after some negotiation. Love my Triumph, Harley lost a customer.

I have a Meteor and love it. But the yellow one you have is a 'Fireball' with the Stellar/Supernova screen and back rest.
I don't hate Harley's but they aren't very suitable for the UK roads and are bloody heavy! Being 5' 7", I would not feel in control of such a heavy bike.
On the other hand, the Meteor is almost perfect. I say almost because it needs a little bit more power and this should be easily achieved, but RE look to the Indian market where mpg is more important. Maybe they should make a non-Indian variant with say 27 bhp?
I've ditched the back rest, fitted the lower seat and shocks and sorted out the horrible exhaust system and air filter. On Monday I went for a ride with a mate out for lunch. This was on typical UK back roads going between 20mph (bloody councils) and 60ish mph. The Meteor was such a nice ride.
The weekend before when we stopped for lunch, an old lady who was sitting outside the pub said 'I love your bike!'.

Don’t understand why one needs to be a hater… just keep scrolling!
As for the Meteor, I thought I would find it more comfortable since I felt cramped on the classic 350. The handlebars have nicer pullback, and I thought I would like the heel/toe shifter. It ended up being my least favourite of the RE lineup. No knocking the looks, it’s just a matter of your fit/comfort/preferences. I thought I would be dialed in on the classic or meteor… after riding their lineup, I walked away with a scram which I just love. The point is: you have to ride them all till you find the perfect fit that puts the biggest smile on your face. No reason to hate on any bike. 😃

Problem that they haven’t considered is that frustrated drivers are going to overtake dangerously (seen it already, many times), and professional drivers vans, deliveries etc are going to make up time by driving even faster out of the 20 zones.

Always enjoy your videos , like your to the point opinions (many chime with my own) I must admit I've never understood the "hate" some within the biking community have towards Harley's , I often wonder if its a mixture of envy and ignorance or maybe prejudice because they are made in America, whatever the reasons its illogical, we should celebrate the fact that Harley's exist just like we should celebrate all motorcycles exist ultimately if owning and riding a Harley puts a smile on your face and makes you happy then its a winner .

I should make a video why I don't ride Harleys, they just didn't make a bike for a new rider in a price in 2001. Bought a Yamaha VStar 650 and put a lot of miles on that bike. I then got bikes with feet underneath me and ditched cruisers. Bad for your back. Anyways see you on your next.

I've had Harleys for 28 years , I tried a new Goldwing in 2019 so refined, however I kept my old 1990s Royal Enfield because I loved that too. I sold the Goldwing lost a bit obviously but had enough to buy an Evo electra glide, with a carb! So lovely, it tells you your going fast, which is a big thing with cameras everywhere. And it can cruise all way, return 50+ mpg and its something to carry loads of stuff on board. Anyone who dosent get Harleys has never lived with one. I've had BMWs in-between and I feel they don't deliver what's promised. I should have guessed they aren't reliable, as they are the only bike manufacturer to supply an optional SOS system for when you break down. And the worst part was when I needed it, it didn't work!!
There's plenty of bike snobs, to me, if it's what you like, it's what you like. Having run a motorcycle business, I've had access to everything, and keep going back to EVO Harleys, had a friend clocked up 420k miles on one, he still has it, but bought another to use because his old bike has been being restored for the last 6 months. It'll back on the road for next year fully refreshed. I'm hoping to do the same. And the old Bullet will stay as a pop down the shops and weekend pootle bike. Everywhere I go it draws a crowd? Maybe because it's so polished and never gets dirty!!

Never hated harley, but in my country, the harley riders are mostly arrogant egomaniacs. Mostly, they demand access in already packed traffic, forcing drivers to give them way, using their loud exhaust to signal their oncoming. So ironically, the bike is both respected and resented at the same time.

The only issue with Harleys for me, is I don't like the look of most of them (too much chrome and/or weird front cowl/fairing).... but there is the odd one or two they've come out with in the last few years that looks really very good. I like the idea of an air cooled single or twin, so will have a nose at them at some point. Thanks as always for the vid, and will be interested to see your thoughts on the meteor when your new vid comes out.

It's important to be informed about Royal Enfield. People don't understand how often you need to check the valve clearances. It's every 5k which is a lot. It's a simple bike, but it can be very expensive to run if you're not doing it yourself, and if you are doing it yourself that's a lot of work to do every 5k. Hopefully the new engines have longer valve clearance checks with new tech in the 450. Its the only reason I didn't by an RE. Too much valve clearance checking and too often that I won't want to do it myself or pay anyone to do it for me.

I make a point of never questioning anyone's choice of motorcycle, yet I seem to get a lot of 'experts' telling me what unreliable and awful machines Harley Davidsons are. It usually turns out that they've never ridden one, but knew a bloke whose brother-in-law's neighbour had one in the 70's and apparently it broke down...

Totally agree on your observations regarding appearances. That's a gorgeous ride..said no one ever when the plastic festooned ADV bikes ride by. Don't mean to sound harsh, had a GS prior to my Classic 350. That GS was an awesome bike. But the Classic 350 is just a different more fulfilling experience. The Meteor reminds me of the sad offerings from Harley Davidson in the mid 70's when Harley was getting kicked to the curb by the Japanese bikes just prior to the resurgence of the Cruiser scene. Cheers.

You need to ride a Harley in the USA to understand what they are about and the conditions they are made for. We had a HD Dyna for a while - an excellent bike. We’ve had a number of REs and love them. I regard the RE Continental GT 535 as one of the best looking bikes ever made. I’ve had two of those but sadly the bike didn’t like me so much. The RE Intercepter is a great bike- I did a long trip on one last year, but I think the semi-cruiser style of the Meteor makes it supremely comfortable for long rides. I haven’t tried a Super Meteor but as an old bloke I lean towards smaller lighter bikes these days.
